The parent should have been notified for sure but the school is and will be engulfed in the system and unfortunately if we put our kids in the public school system., so will our kids and so will we as parents.

As a parent who went through this sort of thing for about 2 years about not being notified of so many aspects of our children's education., we had no choice but to take the kids out and home school them.

And yes., even though we paid school taxes we had no choice. We could not fight the system and our kids were suffering from our constant butting of heads with the school. This is what our family had to do.

A fantastic example is what I illustrated to you in a previous post with my lessons on Rosa Parks and Elizabeth Jennings.

This message was the precise foundation of our black history celebration studies as noted in my earlier post, but perhaps there was no understanding as there's omission of this in ensuing responses.

My views are based on my formal education and experiences of living and teaching in America and Australia. Having just come from posting earlier about teaching and celebrating black history celebration at our school and supporting an anti gun stance does not justify a claim that I'm 'supremely anti American'. It's acknowledging the reality of the cultural issues currently experienced and what I believe should be the approach taken for the best outcome for all citizens.

Additionally, you will need to produce credible studies and statistics to back up your claims about home schooling versus mainstream public and private education in America. Having lived and worked in several states, I can speak with experience on the matter about my findings on the outcome of the three differing approaches to education.

Global citizenship philosophy is a commitment to developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Students develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalising world.

It matters not......at least for those of us who are TRUE Christians.....The Utopia of Global government/religion will not happen until we are gone....Then you can teach this global stuff all you want..

Thankyou so much! In all my experience in the public and private education system, globally, parents appreciate how in depth it is and the extensive involvement it takes on in developing the child's future to their greatest potential.

Last term, we had a first grade student so deeply impacted by the learning they undertook across two of our Social Justice Units of Inquiry (How We Organise Ourselves and Where We Are in Place and Time) that they felt compelled to make a positive difference to the lives of others who do not enjoy the same opportunities as we do here in Australia.

For their upcoming 7th birthday, the student chose to forgo birthday presents in exchange for sustainable donations to families in need through Oxfam, raising an outstanding $500. We were so proud of their level of social awareness and their determination to make such a powerful change in our world.

Recently we celebrated “Harmony Day” at our school:

Our students across the school honoured Harmony Day all of this week with a variety of activities to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.

Here, students brain stormed ideas about their identity in relation to abilities within themselves and their contribution globally by creating identity cards:

On the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] of this month we had international women’s day and the children were required to investigate, reflect, draw, write and capture a women in their lives who inspired them:

Examining if this powerful, effective education system adopted curriculum that dictated “readin, ritin, and rithmatic” exclusively and labeled the remainder as “junk”: Where there was no awareness of a basic definition from adults/parents of global citizenship and social justice studies. Further, students were sent back home (more often than not, broken and with adults totally unqualified to teach), and did not receive a set of learning experiences, based in the classroom, in the virtual environment and beyond the classroom, including international opportunities that engage the children in a journey of global learning – I believe we have observed the outcome. In this thread alone and in a culture with a right to bear arms constitution, those who’ve had significant gaps in their education academically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Then we have all the evidence we require for such an approach to be rejected definitively.

If this poster had her way, I feel like she would forcibly remove kids from parents who refuse to acquiesce to her brain washing, double-speak teaching indoctrination.

My hope is that MORE young black women and men would join the teaching profession with this mindset. Heck, why stop at teaching? Can this woman please run for office!?

Today, in the parlance of some political activists, “taking the red pill” means seeing the lies of mainstreasem media -- and learning the truth.“People don't care to watch CNN anymore: People pay attention to YouTubers,” says Candace Owens. Owens is a young black woman who created a YouTube site she calls Red Pill Black. “My second video went trending worldwide with 80 million views.”

My new internet videos sometimes reach 10 million people; I consider that a lot. This woman’s video reached 80 million?
She released it shortly after a man at a Charlottesville, Virginia, white supremacist rally drove his car into a crowd of protesters, killing a woman.
At that time, media coverage of racism was everywhere. Cable news talked about “America’s lack of racial progress” and threats to minorities posed by white nationalists.
“CNN was trying to sell to me, as a black person, that the KKK was alive and well,” Owens added. “That was ridiculous.”
In her video, she sarcastically shouts, “OMG, Charlottesville! White supremacy is alive and well!” Then she goes on to argue, “Black people have scarier things on the horizon than the almost-endangered species of white supremacy.”
Owens also objects to the way the media cover police brutality. It leads some people to believe that the biggest threat to young blacks is the police.
“Fact No. 1: Approximately 93 percent of black homicide victims are killed by other black people,” she says.
I pushed back, pointing out that there still is plenty of racism, and some innocent people have been tortured by police.
“That's absolutely right. Some innocent people have also been struck by lightning. Sixteen unarmed black men were killed by police officers in 2016. If you are watching CNN you would’ve thought it happened every single day. OK? That’s a problem.”
Owens (correctly) said thousands of young black men were killed by other black men, whereas “sixteen represents .00004 percent of the black community.”
Media coverage of Black Lives Matter, she says, also creates a distorted picture of what’s going on.
“Black Lives Matter actually resulted in more black deaths across the country, because police officers don’t want to answer the call.” (Some authorities dispute that. Killings nationwide did rise after the shooting in Ferguson, but more recently they dropped.)
But Owen’s main argument is that the media mislead. The biggest issue facing blacks today is not racism or police shootings, she says, but dependence on government that began 50 years ago with Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” programs.
“They incentivized mothers not to marry fathers. That’s why single motherhood is up. The government would give you more if you didn’t marry him.”
That’s a fairly common view among conservatives, but among blacks, says Owens, it’s easier to tell your family you’re gay than to reveal that you’re a conservative.
“My entire family’s on welfare, save a couple people. What (welfare) does is essentially offer you some money and then say, ‘Whenever you work, you don’t make enough, so we’re gonna give you this much money on top of that.’” As a result, she says people think, “I don’t want to make more because the government is already giving me $500 that I don’t want to lose.”
Saying such things brings Owens criticism from social justice warriors of the left.
“What people don’t understand,” though, she says, “is how many black people are excited about what I’m doing ... how many are very aware that they have been duped by the left.”
Owens is far from the first black conservative. But, she says, others “have not been successful in the past because they cared too much about what people thought. ... We’re doing it differently ... talking a lot of trash.” Giving out red pills.
Having an edgy sense of humor is one way she does it. So is knowing history and literature better than her critics.
“You can feel free to call me an Uncle Tom. You can feel free to call me an Auntie Tom. It does not affect me,” she says. “Do you want to know why? Because I actually read the book. Uncle Tom was the hero.”

We need to decide if we want our schools to teach our children to read, and understand math, geography, history and the sciences, or if we want the school to indoctrinate children to become good little socialists.

All of the circle-sitting, hand-holding, kum-ba-yah singing will not educate our children. It used to be that education was the goal of school, not social engineering.

The "morals and virtues" can be taught as you go along, IF you have good teachers that espouse those doctrines, and hold their "kids" to those same standards. There is no need to have a separate curriculum just to teach "good citizenship".

Nothing personal against Laura Charlotte, but that whole curriculum smacks of socialistic indoctrination. With all of those special classes and projects, of touchy-feely, I'm ok, you're ok... how is there any time left for math, grammar, literature, geography, history and science?

The Govt wants to "take care of people" and they do it by funding and by taxes. They are going the road of Socialism just as Great Britain, Germany and the other countries have gone. ISLAM is setting up and taking over. This is all very obvious to those of us who are NOT being fed a steady stream of liberalism and Socialism here in the U.S. Those who have already lost their rights in those other countries are screaming at us to not make the same mistakes they made. They love our President.

I voted for Trump because he is against Socialism. I'm totally against liberalism and socialism too. I love America and the values it was built on and the way of life we have here.

But when people are not responsible for their own lives and want to be taken care of., those in power will be happy to do it.
Those of us who work and pay taxes and value our country and also those of us who are gun owners have no use for govt taking our rights away little by little.

If you look at any of the countries that have been taken over., it began little by little and the right to protect themselves and their homes is the first line of defense taken away. History is there to read. Those who don't know about history are going to repeat it sad to say. Most don't know and are being pulled into a stupor of sleep.

Where do we find the time in our amazing curriculum, one just wonders where grammar, literature, numeracy, physics, engineering, history, and geography take their place!

Our students produced a statistical poster with their brilliant and creative project - ‘Do Brands Change How the Taste of Foods are Perceived’.

Time for our Year 3s to unwind and relax after a busy school day with a story time session.

Day 3 of Science Week and students were poppin'! This lunchtime activity certainly caught the attention of our young scientists as we launched pop rockets on the Junior School playground courts.

Working hard on their solar panel engineering projects.

As stated previously, there’s been no appreciation and essentially basic understanding of the literacy, geography and history studied in the curriculum as illustrated in last week’s posts. History and literature were examined when I posted our black history celebration studies of Rosa Parks and Elizabeth Jennings. Before students go global to travel interstate and internationally, students are taught in their globalisation studies to help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. This fantastic element of globalisation is also known as ‘geography’. This thread has continuously shown the significant gaps in education of adults in many disciplines and has continued to lend evidence to issues in home schooling and the approach of exclusive “readin, ritin, and rithmatic” vs. “junk” to be replaced with the current broad, powerful and effective curriculum where the successful outcomes speak for themselves.

The universities most definitely have, and from watching news stories, and reading reports from angry parents, it appears that the trend toward teaching liberalism/socialism has reached even elementary school levels.

One of the more notorious ones mentioned in the press a few years back was the way the curriculum promoted homosexuality as being normal, with grade schoolers being assigned to read a book called "Heather Has Two Mommies", or something like that.

There are many, many more examples that could likely be found with little effort.
