Ok, not sure if that title is ok but whatever. The thing is there's this show that i love titled shadowhunters.... maybe some of you have come across it. It's cool and has some bibly things in it like mark of cain, adam's first wife lilith (not sure if that can be categorized as bibly but u get), parabatai's oath that contains either naomi's words to ruth or the other way around (can't remember but it's the where u go i will go where u stay i will stay and so on stuff), contains nephilim which u can find around the noah stuff, it also has angels, angel blooded people (nephilim), demons, demon blooded people called downworlders in the show.... what else...... i think that's all the bibly stuff and i'm sure most of you reading it might be wondering what the question really is so m just gonna go straight to the point now....... with all the bibly stuff it contains, it also contains or probably supports homosexuality and now m cracking my brain whether to continue watching it or stop... i've watched the 2 seasons and m currently following them on the 3rd but i'm still fighting inside whether to stop or not..... The show actually made me know somethings in the bible which i never came across b4 (all the bibly stuff i mentioned except the ruth naomi stuff).I hope my question is understandable cuz i think i just complicated it but watevs.... please answer, i'm kinda desperate. Thanks

First of all, Adam's ONLY wife was EVE. So the show is mistaken on that. And since it's wrong on that, it's probably wrong on other bible things. Stop watching it. Just the title alone, "Shadow Hunters" is creepy and should give an indication of what it's truly about...

Also, it supports homosexuality, another good reason to stop watching it. Also there are no "demon-blooded" people. Nephilim are NOT angels, they're hybrids of humans and demons.

The show is giving you serious disinformation. Stop watching it.

Lilith is part of occult belief, not a biblical belief. Whatever you're watching is Clearly not Christian, therefore "learning" anything about the bible from it is likely to be Wrong.

Nephilim have varied ideas on what exactly they were. But no matter how you interpret it, they were evil. It sounds as if the ones reciting it in the show are angels. So they are name after evil, but are good guys and misquoting the bible? The line is not "The Angel do so to me", but "The Lord", meaning God. So they've replaced God with an angel, now Changing scripture.

I did look this all up.

So, basically, the show takes biblical concepts, twists them into unbiblical imaginations, presents it as fiction and this is what you claim is teaching you about the bible. Plus you say the show supports homosexuality. Which God, in the OT (where most of their biblical twisting comes from) refered to homosexuality as an abomination.

Starting to see a pattern of none of the show being biblical, just borrowing ideas from the bible, twisting them and making fiction. And some of it is occult based.

And also i was formerly a lesbian..... don't judge cuz i really didn't know what i was doing, i was probably 7 or 8 and i stopped 1. I still try to like remove it from me completely but whrn i see things that are lgbt supportive, i don't attack it or see offense in it as most people do so that again is also hindering me from wanting to stop watching it

I'm not judging. I have had friends who were, or used to be, strippers, addicts, atteempteded murderers. Numerous with various mental illnesses.
But whatever your past is in relation to your original question is irrelevant. I put no special emphasis in homosexuality. It was one of a number of things I spoke on. Yet you chose to only acknowledge one of them, and a bit defensively.
I attacked no one. I showed biblical principles and exposed the show for all the ways it twists the bible and how you should not be learning anything from it. How come you ignored everything but one point?
If you felt it was an attack take it up with God, He's the one that called it an abomination, not me.

Hold on, i wasn't referring to your comment at all, actually i'm thankful and i don't think you were attacking me. I just said that in place to show another reason why it might be difficult for me to stop watching it

It's an abomination to God. Sounds like an excellent reason to stop watching it, IMO. The show does not portray bible events accurately, therefore it's leading people astray concerning what the bible really says.

No one has said you're attacking them. :) Nor are we attacking you. But you DID ask for advice, right? And you received a good bit of excellent advice. :) Trying is all you can do, just make sure you ask for God's help on that. :)

Whenever movie/TV makers add "bibly stuff," it is never accurate. It is fiction. It is usually anti-God in its nature too.

That said, if I gave up every show that talked about God wrongly, there isn't anything else to watch. Just assume everything you're learning is fiction, not fact. And, if you get caught up with the idea of Ruth had something, then feel free to read what Ruth really had in the Bible. And if you think the modern equivalent to Nephilim is real, do a word study on that word. (Hint, they weren't angels.)

You've hit an important age. You've hit that age when it is important to divide fact from fiction. After all, if you can't, you'll never figure out the difference between lies and truth either. Feel free to watch what you like to watch, but make sure you don't leave your brain somewhere else. Some of my favorite shows were the same kind of shows -- Buffy, Fringe, Stargate, Star Trek -- and yet, I never believed any of the philosophy being promoted on those shows. Fiction. I love fiction. I just have to come back to reality when I'm done in fiction land.

A motto that has served me well in life, "Question Authority." Hollywood thinks they're an authority. They're not. They're indoctrinators. As long as we know that, we stop falling for the indoctrination.

Added, after reading some of the rest of the thread -- really "Question Authority." Right now I can go down a long list of what you're being taught by people that is also wrong, or, at least, full of misconceptions also taught incorrectly to them along the way, so now they think they know the truth. And yet, they never questioned what they were taught.

So, just to let you know, Becc, question authority even from people on this site.

If you think you were a lesbian at 7-11, that's a serious problem. You were victimized before you even knew you were being victimized. That's closer to rape or incest, (even if sex never happened), than a lifestyle choice. You need help from a Christian counselor. And, yes, I do get whatever was going on back then is over, but something changed in you. You understood things that no child should even think about, once more understand. And, because of that it changed your personality -- your you-ness -- into something no person should have to be changed into. It also left a mark on you. Not an emotional mark, that other victimizers will see and use to their advantage and to your peril. Counseling is needed, so you can get back who you are. Without counseling, you're going to have a very hard time in life figuring out when you're being conned.

There were monsters in your life and you never saw them as monsters. You thought they were loving people. You'll need help to tell the difference, or it will happen again and get worse.

Reasons why you won't tell anyone in your family:
1. It's embarrassing.
2. They won't understand.
3. My parents will killlllllllllll the person.
4. I will be a freak forever.

Out of all those reasons, here are the ones that are truthful --

(Now go tell your parents.)

Oh, and if it was your parents, then tell an adult you know and trust. (Pastor. Teacher. Someone like that.)
