In the book of James, we find two kinds of people: Those who claim to believe, but never put their faith into action, and those believe and act like it. The latter say, "I trust God and I trust His Word, so I will be patient and won't give up. No matter what, I will not let go of my faith in Him". They remain consistent in doing what the Word tells them to do, even though the odds are stacked up against them.

The Bible refers to that kind of persistence as 'great faith'. Great Faith is tenacious, unyielding, persistent, consistent, solid, immovable and stubborn - refusing to take anything but what God's Word says for an answer! We read about people with this kind of faith in Hebrews 11. It speaks of their stubborn refusal to let go of their faith, in the face of great hardships, even death. Why do so many of us give up the moment trouble presents itself against us? How will we ever enter the fullness of what the Lord has for us without persistent, stubborn faith? Today, decide to refuse to give up. Don't quit. Put your faith into action by remaining faithful to what God has called you to do, never speaking anything other than what His Word says concerning you. Persistent faith wins every time.

Unyielding, persistent, immovable, stubborn, oh how many times I have had a distaste for such people. Not going to make the most friends with those traits. It gives me great joy to know that people still stand up and be counted even in the face of death. What’s my price that I am willing to pay for the prize... am I willing to play the long game?

Stubborn can be a good thing. When I was in high school I thought a lot of kids were dumb for doing some things they did, and I was stubborn enough to not do those things just so they would think I was cool. I never got hooked on smoking, drinking, etc. because I was stubborn.

Stubborn can also be a bad thing. I have bad teeth because I have neglected them for so long. It's not my mother's fault... poor lady, she had so much patience. I would have given up on my kid long before she gave up on me. But after I moved out of the house she couldn't exactly follow me around and make me brush my teeth any more, and I just didn't seen any good reason to do something so tedious over and over and over.

Moral of the story is, you really need to make sure you are being stubborn about the right things. Sometimes you can be sure something is good or bad, and you can be adamant about it, and be totally wrong.

Thanks for this my precious brother.
