It's good to have the opportunity for Christian men to share and discuss issues and struggles that Christian men deal with. Men can give each other feedback and support.

Wow it got quiet in here!

Problem is, men don't usually talk about things they struggle with. Men are supposed to be strong. Talking about things you struggle with is a sign of weakness, and men aren't supposed to show weakness.

This is unfortunate, as many men would benefit from frankly discussing what they struggle with. But in the current "Come on ya big sissy, man up!" society, I don't think many men will discuss their struggles, even in a forum where you can be anonymous.

women talk, men bond by sharing experiences, that's why we go shooting, hunt, fish, watch football and other sports, then we communicate with each other.
Men who only talk probably squat to p
and I mean that in a good clean christian way

Men and women are different. Women heal through comforting words but for men, time is the best healer. A man heals when he is alone and in silence.

While I have no problem sharing my issues with other men, I am very selective about who I would confide in, and would never share things like that on a public forum.

Just sayin.....

I agree that men don't often share with other men things they struggle with, but that doesn't mean they can't. I think the key is having a trusting environment where men feel comfortable to share. Some things can be shared in a public forum but other things in a private setting. Finding someone to share with in a private one on one setting can help open doors. I also agree it's been taught for ages that for men to share struggles is a sign of weakness. How sad. The only way we can change that is by taking the risk and start sharing.

You are so right that men tend to bond differently than women and that's fine. I guess the key is that they find a way to bond and feel like they can share experiences with other men.

I don't know about you but when I'm hurting or struggling with some conflicts, it feels good to have some words of comfort and encouragement. When the Scriptures talk about "encouraging one another," doesn't that apply to both men and women? Time definitely helps to heal a lot of things and it's just my opinion but I think words of comfort also help.

We are from a different generation. Yeah, we're the old folks now :p:eek:

Well said. I think it's always important to be careful what you share and where when it comes to personal feelings, struggles and issues. There's a place for sharing in a more public setting like a forum but also a place for sharing in private. I guess the bottom line is being open to sharing and finding the right place for it and the right individuals.

I need to get this off my chest. Are there any other guys here frightened by Alvin and the Chipmunks ?

I have several fears but chipmunks are one of them. All I knows is that all fears are real. Its difficult for me to understand the Scriptures that state, "perfect love drives out fears." It's a challenge to have that kind of love.

I once was a member of a group of men who met regularly and shared their hearts, hopes, dreams etc.
It was called happy hour.

lol well i guess I'm not much of a man I am all to open to talk about my struggles

Not sure we are supposed to do that, aren't we to make our requests known to the Father?

Greetings;

As we all know, we should forgive those who trespass against us. My problem is whenever I see those particular persons, it stirs up the memories of what the trespass was. I do forgive them, and the last thing I want to do is start an issue, but I feel the best course of action on my part is to stay away from these individuals. It is extremely hard to let this go. I guess I am like an old mule: I dont forget. Dont get me wrong, I would not wish harm on them, but because of these individuals, I do my best from associating with anyone associated with them.

As you can gather by my icon, you can imagine what my former occupation was. I retired 12 years ago.

We may have been given erronneous instruction on forgiveness, I, too, take it as "wisdom" to have learned a lesson, we are not to be doormats, we are to occupy this world with Jesus indwelling us until His return.

Seems like "the clean have no fellowship with the unclean".

I made a mistake. The icon for me did not appear, so to let you know, I am a retired firefighter with over 30 years experience
