In Hebrews 4:1-2, we read - "For indeed the gospel was preached to US as well as to THEM; but the word which THEY heard did not profit THEM, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest," although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Obviously, not all of these Hebrews were genuine believers. Notice that verses 2-3 make a distinction between US who have BELIEVED and do enter that rest and THEM who heard the word but did not mix faith with what they heard and will not enter that rest because of UNBELIEF.

What do YOU believe the gospel IS and what do YOU believe it means to BELIEVE the gospel?
(Romans 1:16)
"THE GOSPEL" is allowing "THE SPIRIT work is us" (Philippians 2:13) vs Old Covenant procedures!

When JESUS DIED "worshiping" became ALL SPIRITUAL (John 4:23-24) by the Holy Spirit (not us; Ephesians 2:8-9) the glory that HE returned in (John 14:18) to HELP US (John 14:26; 16:13) for we can't keep our New Year's Resolutions let alone "DO RIGHTEOUSNESS!"

That's the "GOOD NEWS!" *WE* no longer "work" until we hear from "The Father" (aka Holy Spirit) who PRODUCES OUR ACTIONS (Jeremiah 31:33; "put MY law in their hearts and minds")!

GOD DOESN'T CHANGE (Malachi 3:6) and as in the OT no one moved or "worked" until they HEARD A WORD from GOD!

That's why we MUST be baptized by the Holy Spirit with "SIGNS FOLLOWING" to "CONFIRM" (Mark 16:16-20) we have received the "POWER" (Acts 1:8) JESUS PROMISED to be RECONNECTED (II Corinthians 5:18-20) or "RECONCILED" to HIS SPIRIT in order to HEAR FROM HIM!

It's a SPIRITUAL journey! ALL SPIRITUAL with "GOD DOING THE WORK" (Philippians 2:13; Titus 2:12) based on our LEVEL OF FAITH (Romans 1:17) which is "PROPORTIONED" to us (Romans 12:6) based on our "HEARING THE WORD OF GOD" (Romans 10:17) and "BELIEVING" and "HAVING FAITH" in what HE'S PROMISED (Romans 10:14-15)!

Blessings:)

Sir if your listed age is correct then I think you need to be accorded respect by your younger brothers and sisters. I believe you do have a zeal for the Lord and His Word. The disconnect you seem to be having with so many is not so much doctrinal, but rather generational. I don't think any of us took Lafftur's post as blasphemous, but perhaps it might have been deemed blasphemous many yrs ago.

Although our Father MUST be feared (reverent awe) and never disrespected, we should remember that He is our Daddy (Abba).
I do not believe he would in any way take her post as an offense. She is His little girl! That's how he sees her, and us as well. We're His kids.

I in no way condone or approve ANY behavior or post that insults or degrades another person. But we have to have grace, and give it to those that offend us in fact, or, as in most cases, what WE percieve as fact.

If you feel offended by something someone says view that as an opportunity from the Lord as a test to see if you can show love and Grace.

I honestly wasn't trying to rebuke you. I was attempting to show you the situation from a different perspective. Be at peace here. Just like in our earthly families we squabble sometimes. But know that we love you.
What a wonderful sweet post, PennEd!

Love is so powerful! And, it's not a choice, it's a COMMAND.

Dear loyaldisciple and Incognito, you are loved and accepted in the Beloved just as we are. Love covers a multitude of sins. If you feel I have sinned, cover me with love and pray for me. I shall do the same for you. :)

Judgment without mercy is condemnation. Mercy triumphs over judgment and God delights to show mercy.

May our Father in Heaven pour out for all of us today a tremendous blessing of His Love, Mercy and Joy for we are all his kids, just like PennEd said and our Father does love us so VERY MUCH! :)

You did not mention one thing about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The gospel is the “good news” of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16) To believe the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the all sufficient means of our salvation.

Incognito, you are an absolute fraud.
If CHRIST (aka SPIRIT) is NOT "INSIDE OF YOU" by baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) with EVIDENCE (Mark 16:20) of "HIM WORKING" (Philippians 2:13)

"you are NONE OF HIS" (Romans 8:9)!

If you were standing at the gates of heaven right now and Jesus Christ asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would be your exact answer?

I Corinthians 15:22 "...even so IN Christ shall all be made ALIVE" by baptism of the Holy Spirit who "QUICKENS our DEAD spirits" back to LIFE (Ephesians 2:1) so that *HE* can "begin at good work in us" (Philippians 1:6)!

I Corinthians 15:42-44!

ALL SPIRITUAL!

Blessings:)

"Well, if you can heal why aren't you clearing out the hospitals? Why aren't you going to the graveyards and raising the dead? Why aren't you controlling the weather and stopping hurricanes and tornadoes? Read John 14:12 and tell me why you aren't doing these things."

Go ahead, I'll wait.

We receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and are placed in the body of Christ when we believe the gospel. (Acts 11:17; Ephesians 1:13).

The healing is not done by any man/woman, it is done by God. Ours is to pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus
The praying is ours, the healing is His. When we pray to God, He decides to heal or not depending on His Will for that person/situation. God's Will is not always ours "His ways are not our ways" If Christians could listen from God before acting they would spare us the embarrassements. God is not in our pockets for us to cammand Him at will. In all seek His will first. Praying according to His will is what gives results. Asking in accordance to God's Will is the same as asking in total submission to whatever His will maybe, whether or not we know what that will is. Jesus always prayed in the will of His father. "Yet not my will, but yours be done" (Luke 22:42).

i think the person budman is speaking to is claiming those without the ability to heal do not have the Holy spirit...

they have falsely accused many here

of being satan

and of not being made new

Do you not realize your jokes concerning God constitute blasphemy ? They do.

Don't you know that GOD has a sense of humor? After all HE made you didn't HE?

Besides, THAT IS THE BIBLICAL TRUTH:

Matthew 25:32-46 (ESV)
[SUP]32 [/SUP] Before him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
[SUP]33 [/SUP] And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
[SUP]34 [/SUP] Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
[SUP]35 [/SUP] For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
[SUP]36 [/SUP] I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
[SUP]37 [/SUP] Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
[SUP]38 [/SUP] And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
[SUP]39 [/SUP] And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
[SUP]40 [/SUP] And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

[SUP]41 [/SUP] “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
[SUP]42 [/SUP] For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
[SUP]43 [/SUP] I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’
[SUP]44 [/SUP] Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’
[SUP]45 [/SUP] Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
[SUP]46 [/SUP] And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

GOD MADE LAUGHTER TOO!

Genesis 21:6 (ESV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.”

Job 8:21 (ESV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.

Psalm 126:2 (ESV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

Thank you Joe, but I don't need your instructions. I know what the verses say and the last one is the best one. Silence never taught anyone anything.
How so?
For even a fool seemeth wise if he keeps his peace, silence actually "teaches" a form of "restraint" and "meekness" just like as it is written if someone striketh your cheek offer the other as well,it is "tough" because as it is also written the tongue is unruly and venomous,so "keeping quiet" can be a defense and a retort for think of it our enemy satan delights in seeking a reaction from us so that we might act foolishly, but at times there are options to keep from doing so...
1.holding one's peace when we are provoked or tempted
2.rebuking if we have the words or even anger but sin not with righteous correction

you know, I just love it when know-it-alls just show up and start lecturing everyone on how to behave, like you have some moral high ground. read the woman caught in adultery story, and pay attention to the part about casting stones.
Well you know how it goes stone casters "skip a lot" but their stones "miss every time".

Why did you start out with "Judge not"...

[Which is an imperative sentence for we ARE to judge with the Word of God or we couldn't tell one they are unrighteous according to His Word which defies "Teach all nations"]

then say "LOVE THY NEIGHBOR" followed by "I" KNOW she is UNLEARNED."

What do YOU call that?

Did you use the WORD OF GOD to come to that conclusion or was it "YOUR" opinion?

When we give "OUR" opinion with NO EVIDENCE from the WORD OF GOD, *we* have "JUDGED!"

Matthew 7:1 is an IMPERATIVE SENTENCE in which JESUS COMMANDED *us* to "JUDGE NOT" using *our* opinion and when WORD doesn't speak on a matter BE QUIET!

Isn't "chastising" and "rebuking" the way you love your children UNTIL they get it right?

I don't understand this SUPERFICIAL LOVE you "RELIGIOUSLY CORRECT" people have created.

When you love someone you tell the "The stove is HOT" rather than "Leave them alone and they'll FIND OUT!"

Well, in the case of SALVATION there are NO DO OVERS!

"While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation" (Hebrews 3:15).
Perhaps someday you will understand, but you'll have to look past religion for that wisdom, for the beginning of wisdom is the fear of God but continued wisdom is to walk in the spirit, when you can humble yourself to God you can do so much more for him than you ever could by your own knowledge.

It does not get any plainer..........Our righteous works have ZERO to do with Salvation!

English Standard Version
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Berean Study Bible
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Berean Literal Bible
He saved us, not by works in righteousness that we did, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

New American Standard Bible
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

King James Bible
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
DISAGREE

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son on the altar? faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

Oh my, another "works saves" person. What makes any human being believe they can do enough "works" to be good enough for God's heaven? Can't do enough works, put on enough works, espouse enough works.

Those who believe through faith and receive are saved by the grace of God and can then go out and do good works because they are filled with the Holy Spirit at salvation and are then equipped to do the work God created them to do.
