What a great way to step around a scripture that you do not like. Scripture, context, verb tense, how bout translation problems, how bout interpretation problems?

I suspect any scripture that is scritinized in this fashion can be made to agree with any salvation theoloty that you wish. Good going.

Allow me to simplify with this biblical formula...
accepting Jesus=Salvation>works=treasures in heaven
What does "treasures in heaven" mean?

You seem to be implying that a person that is full of good works will have some kind of an advantage in heaven vs someone that was pretty much a hearer of the world only. Can you explain what that advantage is?

He that believes on the Son is having everlasting life.

Jesus is the one that begins, finishes and completes the work of faith in us! We are kept by the power of God!

And HE is not talking about the body, because HE has appointed to every person to die once,
Heb. 9:27.

He is specifically talking about the Born Again HUMAN SPIRIT, once the Holy Spirit has births
your human spirit from death into ETERNAL LIFE, it will never die again.

So those who believe that you can Lose SALVATION, must Believe that it is possible to be SAVED, without being BORN AGAIN?

JESUS REFUTES THAT POSSIBILITY:

John 3:2-7 (HCSB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] This man came to Him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.”
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Jesus replied, “I assure you: Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
[SUP]4 [/SUP] “But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

John 5:24 (HCSB)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] “I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.

That word HEARS, means "hearing with understanding", that MEANS only people who are BORN AGAIN, can rely on that PROMISE of ETERNAL LIFE. Those who fell away, WERE NEVER BORN AGAIN.

1 John 3:14 (HCSB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.

Again, that is spiritual death the state that the human spirit was born into, because of the inherited SIN NATURE from Adam.
Before any one questions, what about the babies?

Romans 5:13 (HCSB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In fact, sin was in the world before the law, but sin is not charged to a person’s account when there is no law.

THAT is before KNOWLEDGE of the LAW.

Romans 3:20 (HCSB)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] For no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin ⌊comes⌋ through the law.

So after the age of accountability, you will have to be BORN AGAIN, however, a severely mentally handicapped individual, may never reach the age of accountability.

BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE TODAY, IS THE VAST MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS, only have HEAD Knowledge about Jesus Christ, What He Said, His Miracles, and Who He Said He IS. That is not enough to qualify for being BORN AGAIN, even the Demons in the demoniacs of Gadara, believed that much. Born Again TAKES HEART KNOWLEDGE about JESUS, which is a personal relationship with HIM, where you out of LOVE for HIM, have willingly received HIM as LORD, meaning MASTER; repenting of your utterly sinful lifestyle.

I know no other way through the NARROW GATE:

Matthew 7:13-14 (HCSB)

[SUP]13 [/SUP] “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction{Mat. 10:28}, and there are many who go through it.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

Those GATES are ONLY people who call themselves CHRISTIANS.
Unbelievers are NOT IN THE PICTURE HERE.

I'm surprised that you would ask this, seems you still have much to learn but then again we all do.
Works that we do here on this earth for God/Jeses,are shown to be nothing more or less to God/Jesus as "glorifying of" God/Jesus for though they don't lead to Salvation under Jesus's new covenant they are a reflection of God/Jesus's leadership and so for each work we do through his Spirit and leadership we are "rewarded" with treasures in heaven for those "works".
This gives no "advantage" to anyone on earth or in heaven I would gather that they are treated as "acknowledgement" of service for there is nothing to purchase in heaven nor to sell for there is no "purpose" for doing so because everything is already "taken care of" just as Jesus said "I go to prepare a place for you".
To put thinks simply we as God/Jesus's servants are "given blessings" here but in heaven after our sinful bodies are expired and we receive our "new bodies" we no longer have a desire to sin and so our servitude is over and we can observe our new homes and what is there in.

So are you saying that no one has assurance of eternal life until Jesus says "Well done my good and faithful servant" or separates the sheep from the goats?

Hi VCO, love your postings always. Growing up and maturing as a Christian we had a saying; There is only a small distance between "your heart and your head", about 18", but for some people that is a very very long way to go.

So we receive an 'acknowledgement'. I guess that is good, but this acknowlegement does not do anything further for us. Those who do not get this 'acknowledgement' will recieve exactly the same as we do, except they receive
'no acknowledgement'?

It seems like this 'reward in heaven' for doing good works on earth, is not worth much to you.

Hi BillG, Eternal life is a gift from our Savior; I know you know this already.

Eternal life is a gift, Jesus gives us eternal life and it is not contingent upon my performance, of course you know this already. To teach any other message is a counterfeit gospel = a counterfeit Christ. To say anything less is a false gospel.

Promise of God: John10:28
"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand."

1John5:13
"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Just because you are born again, it does not mean you are born again unto automatic eternal life.
Just what is being born again?
Is it something you can just do again?
Is Salvation something that man can offer?
Jesus has said multiple times of not only the way to be saved but also to enter his kingdom.
We cannot have Salvation except through Jesus, once accepting him humbly as Saviour and Lord and his works, you have the right to Salvation for you believe in and upon Jesus,no longer being "blinded".
Jesus also speaks of "keeping his sayings" but this is referring to people "caring for Jesus" Mary Magdalene his own earthly mother "kept his sayings in her heart" yet still had 7 demons and could not be free from them without Jesus, one should never lose sight of who is master and who is servant and even who is "friend" Jesus eventually called his disciples "friends" instead of "servants" for he said "a servant knows not what his master does" so now we can have Jesus as more than a master,a "true friend" and it is written "to be a friend of the world is to be at enmity(war)with God" so undoubtedly if you do works of yourself you are a "friend of the world" where as if you do works through the spirit you are a "friend to Jesus" and none come to the Father except through him,"self righteousness is as filthy rags",we have Jesus now we need not law to seek "justification" for it is written once again "whosoever believeth on him has not condemnation but whosoever does not believe is condemned still" .

Romans 15:13 - Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

2 Corinthians 3:5 - Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God

1 John 5:13
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Ephesians 3:12
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

hebrews 10

Hebrews 10
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

I'm saying that just because someone thinks they have had a spiritual moment in their life and they think they have been born again, and they think they believe in Christ, it is not an automatic path to eternal life. In fact it is just the beginning of their journey to eternal life. Those who stay on the right path and are doers of the word, and endure to the end will receive their reward of eternal life. Those that do not, will not.

When Jesus says that if you believe in me, you will have eternal life, he is assuming that your belief will lead you to love him and do those things that he asks us to do. If you do not do these things, he will acknowledge that he knew you not and your salvation is lost.
