I recently got myself a “Mary Poppins” hand bag. It holds everything
and more!

I got wondering what kind of handbags you like.

Also if you are a man where do you put your stuff, do you have a man bag
or try to stuff everything in your pockets!

Are you a dainty bag person which holds a phone and pretty much nothing else,
or a sack packed for everything eventually. Ya know, earthquake, famine, flood.

Maybe you are more of a bum bag person.

Anyway here is my new bag modelled by Alice who likes it very much. Secretly I
think she wants to live in it! :D

As to why it’s a “Mary Poppins” bag, it starts off as this. Smart neat.

Adjust a few clips and it opens up like this, shopping bag.

It even becomes big enough for Alice to sit in and she’s piling on the pounds
a bit now. But shush don’t tell her I said so! :)

Hi Miri!

Love the bear! :D

Would it be shameful to admit that I kind of miss neon-colored fanny packs...

I had one back in the day that was actually 3 small brightly-colored bags on one belt... and now I wish I would have never gotten rid of it. :( (As you can tell, I don't exactly care about looking "fashionable"--I care more about color, because it makes me happy, function, and just being myself. :))

Probably, because fanny means something else in the UK. But if you were wearing one of those you'd certainly stand out from the crowd. I'm not sure if I still have one of these or not. I find them useful for amusement parts (ok that was supposed to be parks, but some typos are too good to correct) but not much else.

Everyone the world and his wife had one.

They made you look hip!

I wanted one but never quite got around to it, I was skint back then. Lol

I prefer colours too, I’ve got a bright red bag as well.

It does mean something else, that’s why we called them bum bags! Ha ha

Cinder, you are correct.

I don't use fanny packs (I guess the more posh term these days would be "belt bags") for regular everyday events.

But I do own a fake black leather one, and I use it for, as you said, amusement parks, and sometimes when I go for a walk.

Note to potential dates--don't worry. If I'm around someone of interest, I promise to carry a "normal" handbag, unless we are going to a place that has things like this:

(The Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point, Ohio.) It is especially amazing when you're on it at night. :)

Fanny actually means the same thing here in the states (one's bum )... Not sure why they call them that since they are always worn on the front... Maybe because whoever invented them just liked the name.

What's wrong with pockets? I'm not cramming everything in my pockets... it's all neatly organized. :p I have a Standard Loadout I leave the house with.

Front Left Pocket - wallet, phone, earbuds, change. Wallet protects phone so I don't have to put the phone in a bulky, ugly case.
Front Right Pocket - multi-tool knife, keys, pen.
Back Left Pocket - nothing. I don't like to sit on a lump when I sit. Also keeping a wallet in the back pocket was a fashion I think was invented by pickpockets to make their lives easier.
Back Right Pocket - car key, because I don't want my whole keyring hanging from the ignition switch when I'm driving.

When I'm at home my pocket loadout is in one specific place where I always dump out my pockets. If any of my pocket stuff is not in my pockets, it's in that spot. I haven't had to hunt for my wallet or keys in years.

NOTA BIEN: I'm not going to make fun of women's purses for two reasons.
1 - Fashion requires a modern woman to carry a whole cosmetics line around with her these days, and women listen to fashion a lot more than they listen to guys who tell them they really don't need to wear all that junk.
2 - A disturbingly large amount of women's clothing does not come with pockets. Pockets are apparently useful for men, but not stylish enough for women. Were I a woman, I would go slightly crazy trying to find clothing that actually has pockets.

Doesn’t it hurt when you sit down? Lol
Are you even able to sit down.

Would you ever consider a man bag?

I did go through a phase in my younger days where I wore cargo pants.
Lots of pocket lol

Have you ever stood near one of those and collected all the loose change
which fell to the ground!

I agree bum bags are necessary, or something similar when on these.

Makeup is, mind you, in my opinion, merely a way of expressing your feelings rather than just being insecure and apply dozens of layers lol.

Pockets? Well, big pockets are kinda masculine, maybe that’s why women’s clothing ain’t gotten a pile of pockets?

Okay that is a pretty good argument in favor of women's clothing without pockets. Those pants are slightly ugly. And those shoes look downright painful to wear.

But I know it is possible to design clothes that are aesthetically pleasing AND have pockets. I have seen them before so I know they exist.

I would be one of those people who carry just my phone, money, and a tube of mascara if I wasn't afflicted with motion sickness. I always have Sea-bands and multiple kinds of gum and mints in my purse, maybe a can of sprite or ginger snaps or whatever happens to be working for me at that time. And by the time you have all that in there those cute little strappy purses are out. My purse now is a hybrid of the strappy cute and impractical ones and the practical, I-dress-up-alot-and-dress-clothes-don't-have-pockets kind. lol Eventually I'll probably be switching over to a concealed carry purse, and those are very much so Mary Poppins bags!
