I do believe God writes His laws in the heart of His people.

The part that might be controversial is I also believe God did this to His prophets in the old testament. Just as the OT talks about circumcision of the heart.

I believe Jeremiah 31 one is a prophecy that says (paraphrased) you reject me but in the future I will make a nation that will not reject me because I will write on tablets of flesh not stone.

The question is it the same laws?

I don't believe they are..,like parables can teach a lesson, the old covenant are shadows to the lessons God is trying to teach.

We can stand around and chase shadows or we can seek to live the lesson God teaches us.
.
As for teachers and others..., the ones from God don't teach us anything new..., they just remind us what God has already whispered into our hearts and encourage us to live God's truth and not be distracted by the lies of the world,

A covenant is a legal document. We know that a secular legal document is binding. A heavenly legal document is much more so. God created the world that has legal documents, God is much more reliable, honest, trustworthy than any law court we have on earth. His covenants can absolutely be trusted. Yet, there are people who say that a covenant has bee replaced by a new one!!!

There are many covenants we have with the Lord but the one most often referred to is the Mosaic Covenant that is called the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The old covenant is given to us in Deuteronomy 11:26-28. The New Covenant is promised to the Hebrew people in Jeremiah 31:31-34. We have been adopted into the Hebrew family so we can consider this covenant with us, also.

The Mosaic Covenant promises blessings on the condition of obedience, and curses for disobedience. We know this is so, we learn it from the time we are tiny children. When we are too old to be spanked by parents for doing wrong life itself spanks us. There is not one single word of salvation spoken of in this covenant and even if a legal document could be cancelled, there is no attempt by scripture to cancel this. The only way it is related to salvation is that it outlines a way to make ourselves unacceptable for salvation.

The protestant church has done all it could to change God's word. They are very knowledgeable about the grace and salvation of the new covenant, even though salvation is only in God's hands and obedience is in our hands. They do not earn salvation, it is a gift. Yet protestants wave their salvation in front of everyone as if it is something they did and could brag about. They have no understanding that rebellion is deadly for it makes the soul unacceptable.

so you believe you are in the old Covenant because Covenant never change?

It's not the same laws, but the righteous deeds of the law of Moses are fulfilled in those who walk according to new covenant law.

For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what [was] impossible for the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God [did]. [By] sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous deeds of the law would be fulfilled in us, who do not live according to flesh but according to spirit. Romans 8:2-4

No, it's the same Laws.

I think people get confused thinking that law and righteousness are the same thing. It's almost as if they can't imagine righteousness apart from the law of Moses.

A law that demands righteousness, but can't produce it, doesn't have to be the same as another law, that if followed produces the righteousness required by the law that demands it.

I believe that the definition of righteousness is God's instructions. As David, in the Spirit of Christ declares.

Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

Jesus fulfilled the Laws perfectly of the Mosaic covenant..., then He established the New covenant with New laws that took away the shadows and shine forth the Light.

Commandments are righteous.
.However God's righteousness is found in Christ

The law doesn't .make one righteous only Jesus shed blood can wash away our sins.

Martin Luther spoke of two types of righteouaness:

Alien righteousness is the kind we get from Jesus.

Proper righteousness is what we get by living godly lives.

Laws are a totally different topic

Are you saying the New covenant still requires animal sacrifice?

Or is that not a law in the old covenant?

The Old and New Covenants are the old and New Priesthood. In the old covenant, Levite priests performed ceremonial, sacrificial "Levitical Priesthood "works of the Law" to atone for sins.

The new covenant Jesus is our High Priest, He atones for our sins with His blood.

No change in the definition of sins, just the manner in which they are forgiven.

The righteousness of GOD apart from the law has been revealed.

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law has been revealed, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Romans 3:21

An eye for an eye

So you don't define that as a law?

"What gives you the idea that God has changed the law?"

Jesus quoted the old covenant law "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"....then HE CHANGED IT.

What makes you think that God can't change His laws (terms and conditions) for each covenant?
What tells us that God does not change anything He creates is that it is what God says. One of the characteristics of God that tells us He is not mortal living within our world is that God does not have time as we do, God is eternal.

When God told us "an eye for an eye" it was to a world who would take a hand for stealing an apple. That is not justice. God told them they must act with justice. That was true then, and God's direction to us to act with justice is true today.

An eye for an eye

So you don't define that as a law?

Yes I do, just like "Love your neighbor as yourself".

But there is an entire Law and Prophets which show how these laws of God are kept. The problem was the Levite Priests omitted much of the Law and didn't preach what these meant. As Jesus explained in Matt. 5.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

We know these Priests didn't teach God's Word as they were given to do, but for centuries had corrupted God's Laws as it is written.

Jer. 5:30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means;(Not God's) and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Jesus, like the Prophets which God sent before Him, was sent in part, to clear up their false teaching. That is why He took over the Priesthood in the first place. Remember, this corrupted religion had been placed on the backs of the people for centuries.

Matt. 23:4 For they (Not God) bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

So in Matt. 5 Jesus is clearing up much of their false teaching.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

The Word which became Flesh taught this in Leviticus.

Lev. 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

But the Pharisees and the Levite Priests "of old time" did not teach this.

Jesus says the same thing in another place.

Matt. 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

I hope this answers the question :)

Jesus said to His disciples "A new commandment I give to you..."

Do you know what that NEW commandment was and why it was never given before?

Jesus said to His disciples "A new commandment I give to you..."

Do you know what that NEW commandment was and why it was never given before?

Again, before Jesus came on the scene, the only thing people knew about God was what the Scribes and Pharisees taught them. We know that these Preachers did not teach the Commandments of God.

Matt. 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Not God.)

We know they taught "thou shall not kill", but they didn't teach "thou shall not hate your brother in your heart".

The Word which became Flesh taught to love God and one another long before the Word became Flesh. It's just that the Priesthood which was supposed to further this teaching to the people never did.

So it was a "New Commandment" to those of Christ's time, but an old commandment that was given from the beginning.

Lev. 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. (Word which became Flesh)

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Duet. 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

Same Word which became Flesh, same message as in the beginning. It's just that it was new to those people who were not able to study the Word for themselves.
