A covenant is a legal document. We know that a secular legal document is binding. A heavenly legal document is much more so. God created the world that has legal documents, God is much more reliable, honest, trustworthy than any law court we have on earth. His covenants can absolutely be trusted. Yet, there are people who say that a covenant has bee replaced by a new one!!!

There are many covenants we have with the Lord but the one most often referred to is the Mosaic Covenant that is called the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The old covenant is given to us in Deuteronomy 11:26-28. The New Covenant is promised to the Hebrew people in Jeremiah 31:31-34. We have been adopted into the Hebrew family so we can consider this covenant with us, also.

The Mosaic Covenant promises blessings on the condition of obedience, and curses for disobedience. We know this is so, we learn it from the time we are tiny children. When we are too old to be spanked by parents for doing wrong life itself spanks us. There is not one single word of salvation spoken of in this covenant and even if a legal document could be cancelled, there is no attempt by scripture to cancel this. The only way it is related to salvation is that it outlines a way to make ourselves unacceptable for salvation.

The protestant church has done all it could to change God's word. They are very knowledgeable about the grace and salvation of the new covenant, even though salvation is only in God's hands and obedience is in our hands. They do not earn salvation, it is a gift. Yet protestants wave their salvation in front of everyone as if it is something they did and could brag about. They have no understanding that rebellion is deadly for it makes the soul unacceptable.

AMong othersIMO the biggest issue I see areis people somehow saying the words/teachings of Messiah are somehow not for them.

People claim this in many different ways, they say;

only for the Jews, not true:

Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

or done away post cross, not true:

Mat 24:35, “Heaven and earth may pass away, but My teachings will not pass away.”

Another thing is something you touched on, most are told the Law is gone in some way, yet Scripture says it is written on the heart of the beleiver:

Jeremiah 31:33, "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israyl: After those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law (Torah/Instructions) in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and I will be their Strength, and they will be My people."

Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”

How can one reject something He has written on their heart?

I think it is important to read Jer. 31, as the Word which became Flesh tells us what the New agreement with His people is.

Jer. 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I (Word which became Flesh) will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Notice He said He would write HIS Laws on our hearts of those of the house of Israel. No mention of different laws, or new laws.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

One Agreement that was make through Moses was what Hebrews calls the "Levitical Priesthood". This was a set of instructions which were given specifically to the Levites. It had to do with two things.

#1. the administration of God's Laws.

#2. the atonement of sins.

In Jeremiah the Word is saying that there would come a day when we would no longer rely on "Levites" to administer God's Instructions, Jesus would intervene and write them on our hearts.

Also, we would no longer rely on the Levitical Priesthood sacrificial, ceremonial "Works of the Law" for remission or atonement of sins, Jesus would intervene directly and forgive our sins Himself with His own Blood.

This is because the Levite Priests had corrupted God's Words and were creating their own religion. Hebrews explains it perfectly.

Heb. 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

There was a problem with the Priesthood, what was it?

Jer. 5:30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Jesus spoke of this problem.

Matt. 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Not from God.)

So the Word which became Flesh changed this Priesthood because they corrupted it, and created another agreement, as He promised in Jeremiah.

Heb. 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them,(Levite Priests) he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

But the Priesthood given to Moses was specifically for the Levite. Jesus was from Judah, so there also had to be a change of the Law as it is written.

Heb. 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

I think it is important to read what the Word which became Flesh says about what the New Covenant is and be careful not to add to it or take away from it.

Heb. 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, (Appointed because of a certain bloodline) but after the power of an endless life. (Raised from the dead because He didn't sin)

18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment (Levitical Priesthood) going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

Human priests with carnal minds, appointed to the Priesthood according to this Law..

19 For the law (Levitical Priesthood) made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: (They were sinners)

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity;(The Law of the Priesthood) but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

This New Covenant, according to God's Word, is this wonderful change in the Priesthood. No more Levite Priests, scribes or Pharisees to filter God's Word. He writes them on our hearts.

No more Levitical Priesthood sacrificial "works of the Law" that the Jews were "bewitching" the Galatians with and harassing the Gentile converts with.

Messiah, with His blood, makes atonement for the sin's of His People once and for all.

There are many who preach the Word which became Flesh destroyed God's Laws in the New Covenant. We were warned of such preachers.

If you read the Word you will find this is a false teaching.

Great topic, thank you for sharing.

Um, Shamah, do you know how to be concise? You're quoting the right passages, but they are buried in your epics of quoted Scripture. If the OP actually takes the time to read all that, she might get the point... or be distracted by the voluminous and barely-relevant verses you posted. Perhaps a lesson in brevity is in order?

Heh yeah I know it was a lot, believe it or not what I wanted to post was much much longer, but I held back... Honestly I love the word and even if I post a post that I consider long im still wanting to add more Scriptures.. Im like, but mmm this one os a good one, ok just one more!!!! It really seemed like the OP spoke from the heart and it was thought out, I wanted to make a somewhat complete post.

Sadly your view is in error because you don't seem to recognize what Jesus accomplished on the cross:

Luke 22:20 "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood."

Hebrews 8:7 "For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second."

Hebrews 8:13 "When He said "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete".

We are under the new covenant in Christ's blood, not the covenant of Sinai. There is no changing of God's word; there is rather simple acceptance of it.

Maybe some protestants may act and believe as you say but to tar all protestants in this way is a huge injustice and a false accusation against a very large number of people..

Covenants are Contracts.. And like all other contracts if one of the people or groups who have signed the contract has broken the terms of the contract then the contract then the other party to the contract is then justified in having that contract canceled..

With the OT the contract was between God and the physical descendants of the Jews.. The Jews continually broke the terms of the contract.. The contract was basically do this and don't do that and God will bless you, guide you and protect you..

With the NT the contract is between God and any human being no matter what their ancestry is.. This contract is if you believe Jesus and trust in the atonement He secured on the cross for your salvation then God will Redeem you on the day of Judgement and you will have eternal life with God..

So they are two different contracts God has set forward to two different groups of people..

know I can not speak for the OP but I don't think they are denying what Yahshua did, but I think they are looking at it through all the Scriptures concerning this Covenant. I may be wrong in their view, but my view simplified is that the Levite priesthood is abolished and Yahshua is High Priest now and the Law has been transferred to His authority.

An understanding of chadash, neos and kainos are in order to full understand what this al means, Psalm 89, Psalm 105, all the Gospels and Hebrews 7 are among the vital passages for the entire picture. Heh I wanted to give a full explanation at first but I held back...

Yet protestants wave their salvation in front of everyone as if it is something they did and could brag about.
1. All non-Catholics are not Protestants.

2. Salvation is purely by God's grace and it is the GIFT of eternal life. This is based upon the obedience of Christ and His finished work of redemption.

3. No genuinely saved Christian brags about his or her salvation, since it is not of works lest any man should boast.

4. Genuine children of God are NOT in rebellion but obedience to God and Christ. So you must have pretenders in mind.

5. So your misrepresentation means that you have an axe to grind.

Tell us, on what do you base your salvation -- the grace of God or the merits of your obedience?

know I can not speak for the OP but I don't think they are denying what Yahshua did, but I think they are looking at it through all the Scriptures concerning this Covenant.

I
I accept this is your view but Hebrews makes it quite clear that a new High Priest necessitates a CHANGE in the law "12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law. " Hebrews 7:12
Jesus is NOT High Priest mediating over the Torah, which is the outworking of an obselete covenant, because He is the mediator of the NEW covenant.
The Torah is NOT part of the New covenant, as Hebrews 7:12 makes clear...

are you aware the word "change" is not the same word each time it is used, in the english it is simply "change" in the greek it reads different, different words have different meanings. and I will admit this took me a long time to really grasp TBH, not only the language but how it fit into the entire word.

I had already posted the breakdown here, check it out tell me what you think;

Psalms 105:6-10, “O seed of Aḇraham His servant, Children of Ya‛aqoḇ, His chosen ones! He is יהוה our Strength; His right-rulings are in all the earth. He has remembered His covenant forever, The Word He commanded, for a thousand generations, The covenant He made with Abraham, And His oath to Yitsḥaq, And established it to Ya‛aqoḇ for a law, To Yisra’yl – an everlasting covenant.”

Hebrews 7:13, “For He of whom this is said belongs to another tribe, from which no one had attended at the Altar. For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood.”

Hebrews 7:11-12, “Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed (#G3331), there is made of necessity a change (#G3346)also of the law.”

“For the priesthood being changed (#G3331)”

“changed” is word #G3331 μετάθεσις metathesis (me-ta'-the-sis) n.,transposition, i.e. transferral (to heaven), disestablishment (of a law). [from G3346], KJV: change, removing, translation, Root(s): G3346

Greek Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar)
#G3331 μετάθεσις metathesis; 1) transfer: from one place to another 2) to change 2a) of things instituted or established

As in the priesthood on earth, the Levite priesthood has been abolished, and the Priesthood in the heavens, carried out by Yahshua is established. This “change” or “metathesis” is a removal of one that is replaced by another.

“there is made of necessity a change (#G3346)also of the law.”

John/Yahanan 14:6, “Yahshua proclaimed to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, except through Me.”

Hebrews 7:24-25,"but He, because He remains forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to יהוה through Him, ever living to make intercession for them."

I think you are clutching at straws...

SO no assessment of the text, the Konie Greek.. just that, ok im done here.
Actually i checked out the word translated "change" in Hebrews 7:12 - it is "μετάθεσις", metathesis, and its meaning is much stronger than the word "change"!
Change could imply just a tinkering with what was there, but "μετάθεσις" means a complete displacement, a complete replacement!

That is why I told you that you were clutching at straws...

except you are ignoring the fact that the second time change is used it is a differnt greek word, if you actually look at what I posted you will see concerning the prieshood chage it is a removal of one replace by another,

word g3331 and word g3346 different words.
