I like both, too - children and puppies. But I tend to not like both as they get older, haha.

How true, and for me who was a very serious person, i am learning to more now. The good part is i am not often contented to just smile, but can giggle at the littlest things=)). Thanks for sharing ur priceless joys.
Yes, even the not so pretty ones dressed or clothed in their best. Sometimes i get to ride w/ ppl i do not know in jeepneys here, and i like to observe the little ones, sometimes grumpy in the heat or just happy or contented abt their ride or whatever. Once i sat beside a mom? w/ a restless child just before we left the jeepney stop, and the young boy was clearly not comfortable. Rummaging thru my bag, i found a little something to distract him, and he quietly dealt w/ his situation and was soon sleeping during the ride.Children make me smile. And my crazy overgrown puppy
And here, another encounter w/ a sick boy at the laboratory where 2 young men sat beside each other. My son, who is older (a teen) was also needing some blood extraction, and the boy was crying and distressed. I did not smile because it amused me, but in a way thought i could understand what he was going thru and wanted to comfort him, and said, Look at Kuya (older brother) here, it is quick-- and he is so brave! Not sure if that was very helpful, but i thought it at least distracted him a bit from the needle. Wc made me happy even in a little way..

About an hour ago I fast-walked 1.1 mi to the grocery store in the 91° heat and then back home again with a backpack full of groceries. It's pretty much a steep incline all the way home. I drank over 32 oz of water up & back (refilled my bottle at the store). Hiking in the heat makes me smile. And sweat. But mostly smile. 
While I was at the grocery, they were giving free blood pressure and blood sugar tests to the shoppers. I took the tests and everything was normal range. I only did it because they were giving out free chocolate nutrition bars to those who took the tests.
That made me smile, too.
