To the folks who put word within quotation marks and claim it is true from someone else's post, hear this:

Unless you are able to put the entire post with its contact icon with it......do not bother, it will be considered null and void for not having the authentification.

What you have pasted from part of my post is not false, but your use of the word 2strawman" here is completely wrong,.

I suppose you OSAS folks will say just aabout anything to get you way, but it will never prove you true.

you are implying those here who preach the truth

(saved by grace through faith and not by obedience to the law)

are teaching against Gods commandments

you think youre subtle

but its loud and clear

wow...another thread already! and i can see there are some dispute....why am i not surprised? good luck people!

"Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” (John 6:28-29)

If obedience is required to retain salvation, then it's a work, and negates salvation as a gift.

did I say obedience is required to retain, maintain and entertain salvation?

no I did not

YET you respond as though I did

but if you love Him, you WILL obey Him

quite a quandary

if God sent Jesus, can you explain why we would not obey what He tells us to obey?

do you actually think God is looking for lip service?

now tell me that is not what you mean

your turn

and thank you for exemplifying what I said in living color

No, I am declaring that if you do not include the entire quote with the reference icon, tht is the icon for going directly to the quoted post, I will not accept it nor should anyone reading. I could say you said, "you lie about everything you post" but I will not stoop to such a thing......whereas many OSAS will do and say just about anything against posters and agaians Jesu, Himself in these forums. I have witnessed it this is why I continue with dialogue, for the sake of others who may be reading, not for the sake of OSASers.

to the man who denies his own words - you have no credibility until you actually address what you say. your words. we are not making stuff up. we are quoting your words back to you.

if you do not want things you said quoted back to you, maybe do not say them.

you do have a lot of good things in your posts, but things like this ruin them.

Unhappily this is the truth......May God arm you with patience in these forums..

He has armed me with a sense of humor

a bit on the quirky side, but works for me

:o

there is an underlying lack of comprehension when it comes to Jesus

so many seem to believe Jesus was only talking to Israel and then they will turn around and say they 'claim' all the promises God made to Abraham while also saying that 'we are not under the law'

they strip their own gears and have no clue and keep saying the same things like a mantra

squawk!

[/B][/COLOR]Everybody knows this.

This seems to be the only thing the church knows about Christianity. And they take false comfort out of it thinking they are good with God for reminding everybody about it. They will be among the people who are turned away from Christ when he returns. They talk a good talk in all kinds of ministry outreaches but they are lawless and do not live moral lives for Him.

We need to go with what the Bible says, not what you say.

Don't be deceived, people--the person who does not obey Christ is not born again:

make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
10By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother."-1 John 3:7,8,10

People, lets go with what John says, not what we are told by so many people in the church.

Everyone knows? you do not read well

yeah lets go with what John says

1. whoever sins has never seen of known god (habitual sin)
2. Whoever turns and rejects christ is an anti christ, and they were never part of us, if they were they never would have left.

I shared earlier that John and Jesus both mention keeping the commandments of God, and you say elsewhere that it is a lie that we are to do so. Are John and Jesus lying in there declarations here paste.

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

the ridiculous straw man i replied to originally

You do not know what Jesus Christ teaches but you certainly listen to the nonsense of OSAS...

Believers are not under the condemnation of the law, nor under the power of the law to keep them bound to sin. That is what it means to not be under the law.

Believers uphold the law through their faith in Christ. If they don't, ultimately, they are showing themselves to not be believers at all. They will be lost when Jesus returns.

Saving faith is signified by obedience to God's commands.

well I agree except for a bit of wording at the end there

as Jesus has fulfilled the law and we know we cannot, we acknowledge Him as our High Priest and able to save us to the 'uttermost'

I think we basically agree but your 'delivery' is what has folks wanting to stone you :D

I don't know where so many get the idea that all you do is believe. If you actually believe something you ACT upon it

if I believe I am going to get run over on a highway if I stand in the middle of it, I WILL get off the highway

no amount of belief is going to keep me from getting run over

one thing I appreciate about the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, is the fact it makes SO MUCH SENSE!!!

Well good thing i posted the post in question, in fact, people can hit the little green box and it will take you to the post GB9 said, and they can see for themselves.

and see how you are still denying it, and exposing your true self. You need to wake up dude, your destroying yourself by your refusal to repent.

Stay on topic!

We're not talking about once saved always saved here.

I showed where John says to not be deceived--the person who does not practice righteousness is not righteous. But so many in the church insist that behavior has nothing to do with whether you are saved or not.

You do not know what Jesus Christ teaches but you certainly listen to the nonsense of OSAS...

James 2:10 - For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.

(unless you kept of the law entirely at every point, you are guilty as any other law breaker)

1 John 3:4 - Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

(this isnt just about laws given to moses.... this applies even to ALL sin...... which means)

Romans 3:20 - 25
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

praise God.... freely justified by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ

without the deeds of the law
^_^

but
......
what of the law then?

This is a thread about law not OSAS can we stick to topic?

and i just showed where john said whoever sins has never seen god or inown him.

One who sins is one who does not practice righteousness.

So in essence, john said whoever does not practice righteousness (whoever sins) has never seen god or known him

who said a ything about osas? Not me, i just posted johns words. If your gonna listen to john you better hear all he says.

Unless the folks here who use the term strawman so freely can demonstrate how any posts are such, I am beginning to suspect they are just using the term to sound intelligent in place of truthful

Oh how far some have fallen. This the enemy of my enemy is my friend attitude has really turned some people away

Ok, so you are saying when Jesus says;

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

and again;

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

and again;

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He doesn't mean to actually DO what He says, or OBEY what He says, He really means to ??????????

the commandments given by Jesus underscore and prove the validity of the commandments given by God to Moses on Mt Sinai

the love of God, which we can ONLY have through His Holy Spirit, enables us to love

and this takes time. there is no instant bucket of love or instant anything with God EXCEPT for our initial step of faith towards Him and accepting Him as our Savior, who died in our place

it would seem people do not understand that Jesus fulfilled all the commandments by offering Himself in our stead...the Bible says the blood of bulls and goats could never wash away or cleanse from sin...only a holy and OBEDIENT and willing sacrifice could do so

people needa get out their Bibles and start studying

you read about Jesus saying to love etc, but they do not understand that love is the fulfillment of the original commandments

hence, the constant objections every time somebody says obedience

well hey ~ y'all just go and disobey then if you think that is what God desires. He does not force anyone

love is never about force.

Can you provide one example from Scripture where a born again believer lost their salvation for any reason?
The Galatians were in danger of losing the benefit of Christ in justification because they turned back to the law for justification. We don't know if they came back to their senses or not, just what would happen if they did not.

This shows us two things. 1) you can lose your justification in Christ, and 2) God is patient to some extent and willing to let the ex-believer come back to his senses before it's too late.

It also shows us the duplicity of the 'once saved always saved, you don't have to do the law' argument. It says that law keeping believers are condemned because they are relying on the law at the same time it says the believer can not lose his salvation.

Budman;3566861]Seriously, how can anyone prove the salvation of another? Good works? Once again, atheists and members of Christian cults can do plenty of good works. Works don't justify us before God AT ALL.

why does proof of salvation enter into your defence for what you say?

I really don't get that

seems Paul et all thought you could know if someone is saved or not. that has nothing to do with perfection or exhibiting certain things

in the economy of God, a saved person is sealed with the Holy Spirit. God says nothing can rip us out of His hands if we ar saved

there are 3 things being confused by some over and over and over

fruit, obediencew and works

they are not interchangeable. if you do that, confusion will entertain an endless thread...like the OSAS 3000...and when folks who participate in that monster interject into threads like this (I have no idea if you post there or not so I'm not knocking you on that but there are a couple of people who fight and argue and insult no end...you are not doing that )

the Bible is not confusing. it is when certain doctrines are interchanged and a mashup done that the confusion ensues
