Take 1 second and actually think about and ponder what this thread is about.....serious.....it is about HOW ONE IS SAVED not WHAT THEY DO AFTER THEY ARE SAVED.....it IS FAITH ALONE THAT SAVES.....end of story........!

To get this over with, i want to ask dcon “HOW IS ONE SAVED"?

the bible tells us about it this way;

Romans 10:8-18 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: THAT IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH, “JESUS IS LORD,” AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And HOW CAN THEY BELIEVE in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear WITHOUT SOMEONE PREACHING TO THEM? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, FAITH COMES FROM HEARING THE MESSAGE, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”

It is clear that PREACHING is a WORK necessary for one to BELIEVE and have FAITH and therefore be SAVED.

Another thing we need to notice is that WITH THE HEART WE BELIEVE AND ARE JUSTIFIED and WITH OUR MOUTH WE CONFESS AND ARE SAVED.

Believe and confess are two different words with different meaning, the same as justified and saved.

Romans 10 clearly proves that Salvation is not through Faith ALONE.

BELIEF,, CONFESSION, REPENTANCE, PREACHING, BAPTISM, OBEDIENCE , FAITH, HOPE, LOVE, WISDOM, HOLINESS, RIGHTEOUSNESS, GOOD WORKS, SERVICE, WORSHIP ETC. ARE ALL WORKS OF SALVATION THAT THE BODY OF CHRIST POSSESS AND DO FOR THE HONOR AND GLORY AND PRAISE OF GOD OUR FATHER AND HIS ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

IF ONE CLAIMS TO HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH, (gal 3:14) AND THEN SAY THAT HIS/HER FAITH ALONE SAVED HIM/HER AND THAT WITHOUT WORKS, DOESN’T HE/SHE REJECTS AND TRAMPLES UNDER FOOT THE SON OF GOD AND INSULTS THE SPIRIT OF GRACE?

Hebrews 10:28-29 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

IF THE WORKS OF GOD WHO IS LOVE (1john 4:8 & 16) THE SON WHO IS TRUTH (john 14:6) AND THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS THE POWER (acts 1:8) HAVE NO POWER TO SAVE AND EVEN OBEDIENCE TO THESE WORKS IS REJECTED BY SAYING THAT FAITH “ALONE” SAVES VOID OF WORKS, ARE YOU NOT A LIAR AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN YOU?

1 John 2:3-6 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

I CAN CLAIM THAT I HAVE FAITH AND I AM SAVED FOREVER BUT WITHOUT “LOVE”, I AM NOTHING AND I AM NOT WORTHY OF GOD’S LOVE.

2 John 1:4-11 It has given me great joy to find some of your children WALKING IN THE TRUTH, just as the Father commanded us. And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

Isaiah 5:20-24 WOE TO THOSE WHO CALL EVIL GOOD AND GOOD EVIL, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; FOR THEY HAVE REJECTED THE LAW OF THE LORD ALMIGHTY AND SPURNED THE WORD OF THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL.

EVEN DEVILS BELIEVE...

The law had a purpose.....to condemn all as guilty (Romans 3) God's plan began with establishing the guilt of man before he could give the cure for our fallen sinful condition. Israel never kept the law....none have except Jesus and exactly why his righteousness without the deeds of the law is imputed by faith as an act of grace and as a gift. Even today the law condemns ALL as guilty and no one keeps it....to break one of the least makes one guilty of the whole.....as to Israel...there were punishments afforded under the law for breaking it and even though outwardly one can obey laws to avoid punishment, inwardly they can and are still wicked and sinful.....there is not a just man upon the earth that does good and sins not.....no one good, no not one!
This is unfortunately not Biblical as we can see that when Israel was in God’s promise they prospered but when they turned away from God and his laws they were in dire straits. Was there anybody (except for Jesus) who could keep the law 100%? Of course not,but that is why we need a Saviour.

Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we can eat pork chops and prawns, and work seven days a week. That is an insult to Him and His grace.

And you are welcome to your legalistic pseudo-Christianity...

As for me, I know I am saved by grace, and it matters little what I eat, and, in my job, I have to work all days of the week (just not every day every week) and I feel no guilt as a consequence!
And, I worship God, EVERY day, which is the New covenant pattern!

You know what gNp I know now of three instances of people getting really sick from eating pork meat. The one guy did not even eat it regularly and he almost died of what happened to him.

Do you understand Afrikaans or are you a full blown soutie?

Any meat can cause problems with food-poisoning, pork is definitely not unique.
Also, most cases of food-poisoning (especially related to food outlets) are from salads.

I think if you want to argue medicine you may have picked on the wrong guy...

My Afrikaans is good - I can understand just fine, don't get much chance to speak it in Australia...
Also, if you want to use derogatory terms like this "soutie", I can think of a few in reply...
Are you really still in the business of classifying people according to such silly criteria?

there were a lot of people out there eating pork chops and prawns, working every day, that He came to redeem.

did He come to redeem them into the Hebrew Law?

LOL gNp you can call me a Boertjie or whatever makes you happy. I don't think it is derogatory to call somebody a soutie and I have more than one English friend that will agree with me. In a country like South Africa we should get over the touchiness of name calling because that is just silly :) if you are not a Soutie, so be it, if you are a Boertjie, great. I was actually considering giving you my login details for my Bible school so that you can watch some of the classes. Use it don't use it.

I am not referring to food poisoning. The one guy has worms eating away at his brain (our Pastor's brother), the other guy had serious seizures and the lady was taken to hospital with health complications... all pork meat related.

"

Good works is only one aspect to being saved, but it is important, because it establishes if you are saved or not. It really is a good guide for that purpose.
so if you wanted to go around judging other people's salvation . . . ?

maybe His Law is written in ones heart?

Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”
does this mean "Torah is automatically memorized" ?

if the believer must be instructed and bound by written letter of Law - in addition to what He has placed in their hearts, does that make this saying meaningless?

if He has truly written His law in a man's heart, does this add/remove/leave unchanged the need for an additional ministry of law and regulation engraved in stone or inscribed on scrolls?

for example a believer does not in His redeemed conscience feel compelled to wear tzitzit or refrain from eating prawns. what exactly are we doing if we lay these additional burdens on him? even though they are written in the scrolls, if they are not written by God in his heart, what are we doing if we impose them or try to convince him to impose them on himself?

I happen to be a doctor!

Whatever the real issue are with you friends, the same, or similar is also possible with other types of meat.
So, to blame pork, in isolation, is wrong.

If you provide me with the technical details of their diagnoses I could probably tell you exactly how or why pork would not be exclusively to blame.
As a start there is a thing called a pork tapeworm 'Taenia solium', but there is another tapeworm that infects cows 'Taenia saginata'.
So, while cysticercosis, caused by the pig tapeworm, can result in lesions on the brain and seizures, the beef tapeworm also causes it fair share of serious illness.
Another type of tapeworm, called Echinococcus, can also cause very serious health issues is common in South Africa in areas where sheep and cattle are raised. It is not associated with pork.

Given what you are telling me and what I hear about the Listeriosis outbreak (biggest in recorded history anywhere in the world) there are serious public health problems in South Africa with respect to food safety...

With respect to your name calling - maybe you do not think calling someone a "soutie" is derogatory, but that was exactly the reason the name was coined in the first instance - to be derogatory!
Also, surely the person being called the name, is in the best position to judge whether it is derogatory or not - or do such niceties not matter in the world in which you live....

And perhaps this is a little too obvious - perhaps there wouldn't be any touchiness if name-calling was avoided in the first place!

LOL gNp for a MD you are easily offended. I am sure you were called far worse than that in your practice but if I offended you in any way I apologise.

Thank you for the information about the worms I now have homework to do. It is fascinating to see these things and to read about them.

gNp now that I know you are a doctor maybe I can ask you some medical related questions??? (just joking :D)

to blame pork in isolation is just as excuse to point back to the Law. the O.T. points to Christ. the whole Bible is about Christ. they use the written Word backwards. they use Christ to point back to the Law. the Law is the center of their theology.

Now that they know who you are addressing, they can rest at ease because the word of God tells us if we are silent about what we know are wrong we will be judged about it.

Youh ave been warned, use it do not use it.
