That is not what I am implying at all. before you gave your life to Christ, you were a sinner, a worker of iniquity. You now have rest from that work.

And i disagree, i still do work iniquity when i sin, what i have been freed from is the law which cursed me, and told me i have to live his way or else, an impossible task i could never attain. (Ps, god also asks us to do works of righteousness, so think about hw he uses the word work in those areas? Did god tell us to rest from doing works of righteosunsess? Using your reasoning?

why would God say he offers us rest, then place us right back under law. That makes no sense.

there is a difference between committing sin and being driven by sin.

All people sin, those in Messiah are not driven by sin/sin does not rule over them.

All people sin/transgress the Law that is not done away:

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us."

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

here is one exapmple of sin and living a life of sin:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Where we walking?

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

No longer in the bondage to sinwhich was mentioned in chapter Rom 7:14.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. (For he that committeth sin is servant to sin and if the SON shall make you free free we will be indeed!)

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.(Rom 8:1-4 KJV)

To say we have no sin or have not sin is to bring "I" into it. It is not I but Christ, It is HE that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. HE doeth the work.

No where in them text does it say that we can not through Christ live without sinning. If it did then that would be words without Faith; sin.

The focus of Hebrews 4 is "rest".

Hebrews 4:1 is a continuation of what is written in the prior chapter to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief (Heb 3:18-19).

Then, Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

How do we come short of the promise of entering into rest?

Unbelief [no faith] (Heb 3:19).

Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Those who do not enter into rest have no faith.

Heb 4:3 - For we which have believed do enter into rest

Those who enter into rest have believed (have faith). Those who do not enter in, have not believed (have no faith).

Then His wrath is spoken of.

Go back and read Numbers 13-14 when the spies were sent into the promised land to bring back a report. We see two men (Caleb and Joshua) encouraged the people to go in and take the land (Num 13:30, 14:7-9). And we see ten men with a report that the inhabitants were too strong (Num 13:31-33). We see the people requested that Joshua and Caleb be stoned (Num 14:10). Then the Lord said to Moses that He would smite the people and make of Moses a greater and mightier nation (Num 14:11-12). Then in Num 14:13-35 Moses interceded for the people and God pardoned according to the request of Moses and announced judgment against the unbelieving people - no one over the age of 20 would enter into the promised land, the people would wander in the wilderness a year for each day (40 years) since they left Egypt.

So we see that entering into God’s rest requires faith.

The children of Israel failed to enter in and ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. During those 40 years, God still cared for them and provided for them. But they were not in that promised land which flowed with milk and honey and they were not at rest.

In Heb 4:11 we read Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

The "rest" into which we are to diligently endeavor to enter is the rest we find in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Him we find the peace that passes understanding. In Him we find the joy which springs forth like a fountain. In Him we find a love that looks upon the weary and the downtrodden sinner and offers to him or her the same "rest" in which we find ourselves. It is God who works within us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil 2:13). As we rest in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God works within us. It is His strength on which we rely. He infuses us daily with what we need ... just as the children of Israel were fed manna from heaven, we feed on Him and we have all we need to reach out to those who are lost and wandering.

I don't know how others peceive this ,but I have always looked at these scriptures as the apostle talking to sinners, those that have not come to know Jesus.. Who believe that they have not sinned. once we confess our sins, then are we cleasned from all unrighteousness, that one time upon confession.

People use the rest in Jesus for a sabbath rest. The only day that has a name The seventh day that God made Holy unto himself. Prove me wrong if you can find sabbath rest in the bible besides the seventh day. If you can, then I stand corrected. If not then man hs twisted God's word.

The Israelites were observing the 7th day sabbath in the wilderness, yet God had this to say about those who were in unbelief, while observing the sabbath: And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? (Heb 3:18).

This clearly shows that God's ETERNAL SABBATH REST is distinct from the weekly sabbath, and can only be entered into through Christ apart from any good works or ceremonial observances. It can only be entered into by faith. Thus we have this Scripture:

For we which have believed do enter into rest... (Heb 4:3). This is the rest of Christ.

Thus God's sabbath rest is NOT the weekly sabbath, but it is only for the people of God who experience it by faith:
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. (Heb 4:9)

This rest is a rest of the soul exclusively in Christ and His finished work of redemption. Therefore believers cease from their own works and simply focus on the work of Christ and the rest of God.
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. (Heb 4:10).

People who are obsessed with the 7th day sabbath will not find rest for their souls.

Leviticus 25 New International Version (NIV)
The Sabbath Year
25 The Lord said to Moses at Mount Sinai, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you, the land itself must observe a sabbath to the Lord. 3 For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops. 4 But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards. 5 Do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. The land is to have a year of rest

******

You stand corrected for this shows that the word "Sabbath rest" doesn't just refer to the seventh day of the week.

I agree , but it is not a sabbath rest, that you live in sin for six days and rest from sin on the seventh day. that would have to be a repeated rest week to week. this is rest indeed but not a sabbath rest. Like I keep telling people ,this rest is from your works as a sinner, which Jesus said is labour, and you have to find that permanent rest in him.

Obviously you think lightly of God's sabbath rest, which is the same as that of Christ, and which is the true eternal rest of the believer. BTW Hebrew shabbat (sabbath) literally means "rest".

If you can't show me sabbath rest in christ, then you can't prove your theory.Sabbath has a beginning and end day, and it is holy and observed by God himself.

The Hebrew word for "rest" is "sabbath"....

Moving the goal post is a logical fallacy.

Resting in Christ isn't a theory. It's a reality for born again believers.
