This interests me. Do you know anything about this idea that once a woman is married, she doesn't have to try so hard to look a particular way because she has already settled down with someone who loves her? Commitment, I think ─ that's my question. Basically, do you think perhaps the reason is that it's less competition for her to "find love" and it's like a huge weight that's lifted off of her shoulders, thus contributing to a longer life, maybe? Only asking because I heard that somewhere else. Not my opinion/thought/idea. What do you think?

I lost weight after having three children. My kids were rambunctious and kept me on my toes from the time they were toddlers until they were grown. LOL ;) Also, we were always an active family and ate pretty healthy. We were outdoors a lot, riding bikes, hiking, camping, etc.

As for not caring about keeping fit, that'll never happen for me. I love to be outdoors so much and walk all over creation, so I wanna keep myself physically fit and strong for as long as I live. The older I get, the more conscious I am of that. :)

Ive never married, I gave up looking when I reached 20. I figured I had no chance
so just didn’t bother. I had very little confidence back then didn’t think I had
anything to offer. I was this mixed race shy, skinny short kid, fostered by my aunt,
self conscious of having a big bosom which I covered up in baggy clothes.

Looking back I had everything going for me. Young, slim, curvy. I was also extremely
fit as I did a lot of cycling Lol. I was just too
body conscious.

I wish I was that young and slim now! :D

Oddly enough as I got older I still didn’t bother looking, still don’t think anyone is
interested, I’m too busy and getting too old etc.

But not looking hasn’t stopped me wanting to look nice for myself. I still dye my
hair purple to cover up the white, Im completely white under all this hair colouring!
It hasn’t stopped me mixing with men and women from all walks of life.
Hasnt stopped me learning new things.

Single or married I think it’s important to be your own person and do things
for yourself. Maybe that’s also why I’m still single. Lol

Although I’m gradually losing the weight and getting fit again!

I lost 15 pound last year, so far I’ve lost another 7 pound. Walked over 21 mile
last week. I’m trying to get fit for my 50th birthday in a few months time.

Although apparently with a resting heart beat of 67 I should be dead! Ha ha

(I feel half dead some days).

You are certainly doing the right things to remain physically fit. Besides that, and most importantly, you are doing the right things to remain spiritually fit as well. As far as getting married, you have every chance and, in my opinion as a man, would be a great catch for the man that God would choose for you to become your husband.

You have devoted a good portion of your adult life in caring for your sick aunt and God loves you for this self-sacrifice but still wants you to have life and to have it more abundantly. I'm not sure what your confidence level currently is in yourself at this moment of attracting a loving and faithful man to become your best friend and husband but I have complete confidence in you and believe you to be an amazing and attractive woman that would make a loving and faithful wife.

There is nothing wrong with being content in being single. There is nothing wrong either of a desire of having a best friend and traveling companion as you continue your life's journey. You have a lot of love in your heart that was placed there by God for you to share. Right now, for many years you have shared this love in your care and concern for your aunt. Your aunt is getting older and one day this most important assignment trusted to you from God will come to and end. It may come to an end real soon too. There will be a void in your life then and decisions to be made. I pray that God has already planned ahead for when this day comes and has something very special in store for you.

The funny thing is I wasn't trying at 59 when I hooked my Tourist and fact was I wasn't even fishing.... It's really nice when he picked me after I wasn't keeping myself up so much he accepted me for who I am in full... So I'm the lucky one....
Actually, I'm the lucky one.

It's cool that you find ways to enjoy getting older. There was this older lady I saw in public who had silver (white) hair, and she had died parts of it a purple color. It looked fabulous on her. Getting older, in my opinion, seems like an excellent opportunity to be more free in life. When more strands of my hair start to collectively get grayer and grayer, I've had in mind to braid those little spots and let them hang down my head. Once almost all or all of my hair turns silver (white), I may end up dying it whatever color suits my natural features. It seems like it'll be fun. ... This is years down the road, but I do have a few strands of silver (white), here and there.

When i started to dye my hair I just used my own colour.
Then i decided to have more fun and try different colours. Finally I stuck
with the burgundy purple with a blond streak on one side. Lol

This was one of my red moment. Lol

I did have an Orange moment at one point! That was red gone wrong!

Age does bring certain benefits. You can be silly and no one bothers, they just think
it’s the menapause or something or that you are going ga ga. Ha ha.

Purple looks like an excellent color, in general, against gray hair. This gives me something to think about before mine turns totally gray. Also, I wonder about the color teal with gray hair? Teals and aquas are my favorite colors.

It depends on your colouring, some people suit warm colours, others cold colours.

I suit cold colours.

You could try temp hair colours. (Some temp colours are not that temporary). Lol

I've had half a mind to turn my brown hair into a mixture of colors that somewhat resemble a sunflower. Doubt I will do that, but hey, who knows? I have a lot of ideas but I don't usually go through with them.

What colors out of the warm category do you suggest? This is based off my current avatar.

:) Colors make me happy.

I don’t know, what do you like.

My hair dresser has similar long hair colour as yours. She has warm brown on top
then about half way down she applies a warm blond colour it looks really nice.

You can do it with other colours too

The good thing is that it’s easy to grow out if you change your mind.
Plus it looks good tied back as well.

Various shades of red seem to be where it's at. :) I'll keep this in mind, years to come. This is a way for me to plan ahead before I go fully gray. Plenty of time. Plenty of shades to consider. ;)

Thank you for the info and the pictures!

I confess I feel boring when people tell about their adventurous hairstyles and colors. I have basically had the same hairstyle since 1991, in differenth lenghts. The hair do change though. I have got thicker hair now than I did earlier, and giving birth made the hair look darker. Summer sun gives highlights of pale and blond, and some greys pops out here and there. Winter makes it gradually more dark again. In one way I like the way the hair reflects both the year's seasons and the seasons of life.
