Miri, is your alto sax pitched in E flat? If so, do you have to transpose or do you use instrument-specific sheet music? Or maybe you never play along with other instruments and just play what you read. Thank God the viola is not a transposing instrument -- reading what is written is already hard enough!

George my alto is eb a minor third.
Mildred my soprano is Bb a tone above.

I can just about sight transpose a minor third you just pretend you
are reading a different stave line. Lol

A tone above I just give up and play by ear or improvise.

I’m pretty good at improvising and I can play most things by ear.
In the worship team I had to come up with my own melodies and
harmonies as mostly it was drums, keyboard and guitar playing
chords. So there was very little written music.

This is too hard for me! :D No, I'll never play any transposing instrument.

Apart from playing bass chords, can you do anything else with them.
Is it possible to boogie with them. Lol
Yes, I think it is possible, but first I suggest you learn a bass line -- like the one below -- and then you, together with you bass guitar, can boogie along with the boogie woogie song.:D

Well I suppose if an elephant can play the base notes,
anyone can!

The dog almost manages to synchronise his singing
to his playing. Lol

Y’all have to definitely watch this if you haven’t already:)
What an awesome idea for a flash mob :) I love this piece of music. I taught myself many songs by reading corresponding chord charts out of songbooks, but this may be the only song I learned reading note per note to play on my guitar. I was not trained in reading musical scales like that, and it took me about a month. After I learned it, I took it out busking. That was in the days before you needed to get a licence to busk :)

Who deleted my vid?
I'm sorry, Mr. Clinton, it was none of us! When the new layout came into effect all posts from May 24 06:33 a.m. and May 28 03:36 a.m. (between post #129 and post#130) were lost. I don't know if they all can be retrieved, but I'll do my best to re-post your vid.
