DUDE....James does not teach a works based salvation....it is about the mere assent to belief and NOT about saving faith...and I am missing nothing pal....the bible is clear and does not contradict itself....

NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, but according to his mercy has HE SAVED US (PAST TENSE)

IT pleased GOD by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE (NO WORKS)

IN the grace we are having been saved (past tense) out of FAITH and that NOT of yourselves, it is the GIFT (FREE) of GOD and NPT of WORKS lest any man should boast.

Let me tell you and ALL who peddle a false works based dogma which has no power to save, keep saved, embellish salvation, top off salvation.....YOU can forget it....NO WHERE does the bible teach a works based salvation and you are wasting your time if you think for one micro second that you or those other false teachers will ever change my mind.....

Take your own bolded advise above....before you find yourself in the "plenteous in number" grouping that believes your right to enter is based upon the many wonderful works you have done in the name of JESUS....

NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, but according to his mercy has HE SAVED US (PAST TENSE)

Sure...past tense. But unless we produce the fruit of righteousness and holiness we will be cut off...since that is the purpose we were delivered for to begin with.

God is looking for a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

"Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it. Mat. 21:43

If God cut off the natural branches for a lack of good fruit...He will not spare the wild branches.

So we need the deeds that justify us.....not as a pre-requisite to enter the race....but as a condition of salvation from now on with the power (grace) to do so...or else we will be cut off just as the original branches were.

Where is the faith from a believer in the power and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, if someone has to be baptized in order to be saved?
Amen Baptism is a ceremonial law that serves ceremonies to represent the kingdom of priests. They that are used as parables or shadows of the good things. They can never make a person complete perfect.

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." 2Timothy2:15

Hi Mcgee, this is a clear and note worthy post so I just wanted to add a definition to "Rightly Dividing God's Truth",,, I hope this is agreeable to you..... :)

By: Steve Shirley

A: The Greek word for "dividing" in (2 Tim 2:15) is "orthotomeo." Interestingly, this word is used nowhere else in the Bible. It literally means "to cut straight." A parallel could be made to an occupation which demands precise, straight cuts to be made such as carpentry or masonry. If they do not make precise cuts, the project will be ruined. The same can be said for "rightly dividing" God's word.

Paul is comparing Timothy to a "workman" who needs to precisely and accurately interpret ("cut straight") the "truth" of God's word. This is even more important in Timothy's case as a teacher of the word who is under stricter judgment from God (James 3:1). In other words, I believe that the primary warning of this verse is directed to teachers and ministers (as Timothy was); that they must diligently study God's word and precisely and accurately interpret it so that they can properly teach the word to their listeners.

Keep thinking that.....your conflating two words in pure ignorance....was it still a SHEEP or did it turn into a GOAT.....yeah we know you cannot answer truthfully....as dense as lead pal!
Your adding a word that was not in the text.

Why?

Blatant Logical Fallacy.

That’s all you people have.

Insults, opinion, and fallacy.

Sheep became Lost.

19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

  • let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death

Brothers who wander away and become lost must repent or face eternal death.

We'll work till JESUS comes
We'll work till JESUS comes
And then get cast away

or

AMAZING works that I have done
That did not save a wretch like meeeeeeeee
I once was LOST and still not found
Because I trusted NOT in THEE.........

You guys peddle the SAME DOGMA that JESUS speaks to....he said....

MANY will come before me in that DAY saying, "LORD, LORD, have we NOT done many wonderful works in your name, have we not prophesied in your name, have we not cast out demons in your name." THEN I WILL PROFESS unto them that I NEVER knew you, depart from me ye workers of iniquity.....

LET US EVALUATE and RECAP....

THE WORKERS FOR...

a. BELIEVE they KNOW Christ just like the MANY mentioned above.....CHECK
b. BELIEVE their works help earn their right to enter the kingdom like the MANY above....CHECK
c. BLEND BELIEF and WORKS like the MANY above as their gospel.....CHECK

YEP...same dogma and same result.....NO ENTRANCE because your gospel is false..........take it up with JESUS!

"OSAS, "FAITH ALONE",TITHINGS OF CHRISTIANS, PROSPERITY GOSPEL ARE FALSE DOCTRINES

Matthew 19 : 16-17
16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"
17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

Romans 6 : 16
16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

THE VERSES ABOVE CLEARLY SHOW THAT OBEDIENCE IS REQUIRED TO GET ETERNAL LIFE.

ACCORDING TO PAUL, OBEDIENCE LEADS TO RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH LEADS TO HOLINESS AND THE RESULT IS ETERNAL LIFE. (Romans 6:16-22)

Matthew 13 : 22
22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.

THE RICH MAN WALKED AWAY SAD AFTER RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS FROM OUR LORD JESUS BECAUSE HE CANNOT WALK AWAY FROM HIS OTHER MASTER WHICH IS HIS WEALTH.

Matthew 6 : 24
24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

THE RICH MAN JUST LIKE JUDAS RECEIVED THE WORD (THE SEED) AND BELIEVED (HAD FAITH) IN JESUS BUT THEY WERE DECEIVED BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE FOR MONEY (WEALTH). THEY WERE LIKE THOSE WHO RECEIVED THE SEED THAT FELL AMONG THE THORNS.

1 Timothy 6 : 9-10
9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

THESE TWO SITUATIONS DO SHOW HOW THE CHRISTIANS IN THIS AGE OR GENERATION WILL WALK AWAY AND BETRAY OUR LORD JESUS.

Luke 12 : 15
15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

Hebrews 13 : 5
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

1 Corinthians 5 : 11
11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

WHO THEN INTRODUCED THE COLLECTION AND GIVING OF TITHES?

AREN'T THEY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO TAUGHT FALSE MANMADE DOCTRINES SUCH AS "OSAS" AND "FAITH ALONE SAVES"?

Matthew 7 : 15-20
15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Matthew 24 : 10-13
10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,
11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

GREED IS SELFISHNESS BUT THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS IS "SELFLESS LOVE".

NO GREEDY PERSON SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.

Romans 3 : 3-4
3 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness?
4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge."

I agree with garee. It is God that justifies. We are unable to do or will anything righteous in our spiritually dead clay vessels.
Works of righteousness are only righteous through the Holy Spirit. We may hustle from task to task to try to please God, but if they are not accomplished through the spirit, they are not considered fruits of righteousness, but work of debt.
Like salvation was accomplished somewhere eternities past when God spoke it to be accomplished, so also were our "good works" established that we should walk in them.
The truth on the subject of how salvation is obtained is this...God spoke his word of his will and it became so. At what point in eternity this took place only God knows, but at the instant it was spoken, it was accomplished. For the word of God is eternal and unchangeable as it's source.
The book of Life contains the names of the people who God chose to give eternal life to. The book is sealed and can only be opened by Christ. There will be no erase marks or fresh names added.
God is in complete control of his creation. There hasn't been, or will be anything happen in the will of God that he has not already accomplished in complete control. Nor has there ever been or will never be anything not happen in the will of God
It was accomplished at exactly the time he spoke it into existence.
Just as everything under the sun has it's proper time to come to pass, so is the grace of God bestowed upon each individual throughout the generations of the human race who are written in the book of Life.
Salvation was completed before the world began. We have as much to do with it as we did at the time it was spoken to be.
In my opinion, if there is a single molecule in creation that is not under the complete control of God, then entire creation has the potential to spin into an ungoverned, chaotic existence.
God supplies all he requires for us to make it home to our eternal destination. He is the creator of all those things, and is able. We, on the other hand, are able to do nothing in this world or eternity without it being given and completely controlled by God.
If finite beings with imperfections were to have the slightest control of God's will, then his will would not be perfect and infallible.
Does this not make sense to those who believe contrary to this sound doctrin? The original doctrin of the new testament. The Pauline Doctrin of Justification solely by Faith. Our God given faith.
Now for the children of God, that's some GOOD freakin NEWS!!!

There is a book in the bible called James.

In that book there is this verse...

James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

So you have been improperly instructed or you have not read enough to make a proper assessment of what the bible says.
You are the one that has been improperly instructed.
You are interpreting the book of James all WRONG. James is saying that AFTER WE ARE SAVED, the LOVE that is in us, Rom. 5:5, WILL SHOW that our SALVATION was REAL. Therefore, Works are NOT PART OF OUR SALVATION, IT IS PART OF OUR LOVE, that GOD PUT IN US.
HERE IS A PARALLEL portion of Scripture that Will make it clear that Works are PART OF OUR LOVE:

1 John 3:14-19 (NASB)
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.
15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God {LOVE, not SALVATION} abide in him?
18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
19 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him

SALVATION COMES FIRST.
After you are SAVED, GOD's LOVE poured into our hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT, will produce a harvest of good works.

Why do you want to ROB GOD and specifically Christ of the GLORY for our SALVATION by adding your works TO the SAVIORS FINISHED WORK?

Ephesians 2:8-10 (HCSB)
8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift
9 not from works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

NOTICE, PAUL PUTS WORKS AFTER SALVATION, AS PART OF OUR LOVING WALK IN CHRIST.

Malachi 2:17 The Day of Judgment You have wearied the Lord with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?”

Malachi 3:13-18 “You have said harsh things against me,” says the Lord. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’ “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.’” Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

Revelation 3:1-6 To the Church in Sardis “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

New International Version 1984 1 John 2:3-6 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2:3-6 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

2 John 1:4-11 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

1. Not by works( NOT VOID OF WORKS) but by grace thru FAITH.(eph 2:8-9)
2. Justified by works and NOT BY FAITH ALONE.(james 2:24)
3. Faith that Worketh in Love.(gal 5:6)
4. Faith and Action Working TOGETHER.(james 2:22)

Salvation is by GRACE through FAITH and NOT BY WORKS(of ourselves).(#1)
It is NOT BY FAITH ALONE(#2)but it WORKS in LOVE(#3)thus FAITH & LOVE(works of
obedience(romans 1:5) manifested in ACTION and in TRUTH)(1john 3:16-18)are working
TOGETHER.(#4)

2 John 1:6 AND THIS IS LOVE: THAT WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As
you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you WALK IN LOVE.

THE FIRST PHASE OF SALVATION IS TO BELIEVE IN THE ONE THAT GOD HAS SENT
AND IN HIS WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF OUR SALVATION.
(john 6:28-29, eph 1:13,romans 10:8-17).

THROUGH THIS FAITH WE WILL RECEIVE THE PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT(the
Helper/Counsellor)(gal 3:14, john 14:16-17)

John 6:28-29 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the WORKS GOD REQUIRES?”
Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to BELIEVE in the one he has sent.”

THE SECOND PHASE IS THE WORKING OUT OF THAT SALVATION AND
REMAINING/CONTINUING IN THE FAITH TO THE END THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S
WILL AND COMMANDMENTS, DOING GOOD WORKS. WALKING AS JESUS DID AND
BEING A PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST WHO DOES THE WORKS BEING LED BY THE
SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHO IS THE HEAD.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, HIS
BODY OF WHICH HE IS THE SAVIOR.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets,
third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help
others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has FAITH in me WILL DO WHAT I HAVE BEEN
DOING. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father

1 Corinthians 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, iF YOU HOLD FIRMLY TO THE WORD I
preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Romans 1:5 Through him and for his name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call
people from among all the Gentiles to the OBEDIENCE that comes from FAITH.

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always OBEYED—not only in my
presence, but now much more in my absence—CONTINUE TO WORK OUT YOUR
SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.

Romans 6:16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as
slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—WHETHER YOU ARE SLAVES TO SIN,
WHICH LEADS TO DEATH, OR TO OBEDIENCE, WHICH LEADS TO RIGHTEOUSNESS?

2 Corinthians 9:13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will
praise God for the OBEDIENCE THAT ACCOMPANIES YOUR CONFESSION OF THE
GOSPEL OF CHRIST, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Ephesians 4:11-13 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to PREPARE God’s people FOR WORKS
OF SERVICE, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and
in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the
FULLNESS of Christ.

Romans 2:7 To those who by persistence in DOING GOOD seek glory, honor and immortality,
he will give eternal life.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in DOING GOOD, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD
WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

1 Timothy 6:18-19 Command them TO DO GOOD, to be rich in good deeds, and to be
generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm
foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Hebrews 5:8-9 Although he was a son, he learned OBEDIENCE from what he suffered and,
once made PERFECT, he became the SOURCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION for all who OBEY
HIM.

Matthew 19:16-17 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I
do TO GET ETERNAL LIFE?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There
is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS.”

Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful SERVANT You have been
faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. COME AND SHARE YOUR
MASTER’S HAPPINESS!’

WE ARE SANCTIFIED BY THESE TRUTHS AS IT IS WRITTEN:

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

James 1:22 BUT BE YE DOERS OF THE WORD AND NOT HEARERS ONLY deceiving your
own selves.

Romans 2:13 (For it is not the hearers of the law who are just before God, but the doers of the
law shall be justified.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God: that WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS; and His
commandments are not grievous.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Ephesians 3:19 and to know this LOVE that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the
measure of all THE FULLNESS OF GOD.

THE THIRD PHASE OF SALVATION IS SALVATION FROM GOD’S WRATH. THIS IS
DEPENDING ON GOD’S MERCY AND JUDGMENT(JUSTICE).

Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have
compassion on whom I have compassion.”

1 John 4:17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the
day of judgment, because IN THIS WORLD WE ARE LIKE HIM.

Matthew 12:36-37 But I tell you that MEN WILL HAVE TO GIVE ACCOUNT ON THE DAY OF
JUDGMENT for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted,
and by your words you will be condemned.”

John 16:8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness
and judgment in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness,
because I am going to the Father,(ref:john 14:12) where you can see me no longer; and in
regard to judgment,(ref:hebrews 10:26-27) because the prince of this world now stands
condemned.

Romans 2:5-10 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing
up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be
revealed. God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” To those who by
persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for
those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and
anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew,
then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew,
then for the Gentile.

Romans 14:10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your
brother? FOR WE WILL ALL STAND BEFORE GOD’S JUDGMENT SEAT.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one
may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Hebrews 9:27-28 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ
was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time,
NOT TO BEAR SIN, BUT TO BRING SALVATION to those who are waiting for him.

1 Peter 4:17-18 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with
us, what will the outcome be for THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY the gospel of God? And, “If it is
hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the SINNERS.

John 7:17-18 If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes
from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for
himself, but he who WORKS for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is
nothing false about him.

John 3:34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit
without limit.

John 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you
do not belong to God.”

Romans 3:3-4 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”
