Election and predestination are for the ultimate perfection and glorification OF THOSE ALREADY SAVED BY GRACE.

And God will have ALL MEN TO BE SAVED and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

BTW, Matthew 24 is not a reference to the Church but the believing remnant of Israel AFTER the second coming of Christ.

Start reading in vs 15 - it's talking about the "abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place". And in vs 21 - "then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be".

This section of Scripture relates to the nation of Israel and the Temple. God shortens the days of the final attack by satan on the nation of Israel ... God's chosen people.

There are many scriptures which support the view that we don't decide to believe in Christ, but faith in Christ is a gift that God gives only to His elect.

Most folks don't agree with the doctrine of predestination/election, because many other scriptures say things like you must obey and remain faithful to the end etc...

These two opposing views have been debated for centuries, so today we have the benefit of many good good books on the subject but have we arrived at a consensus in the Church.

I would love to see the Church unite and resolve this dividing issue. But I fear that it will continue to be an enigma for the Church. Why can't we let the Bible be the final authority and accept what it really says and unite in the truth.

Anyone has the opportunity to be saved. I would suggest to read the old testament or listen to it on cd. Learn about God. To fear God is the beginning of wisdom. The rest will follow.

My post asked about and shared Matthew 13. I made no reference to chapter 24.

Do you believe the verses speak of fear in the context that we today comprehend fear? Or do you believe there is another word that was first used and defined respect, reverence?

To be save, all you need is believe in Jesus. Forget about predestination or free will. We don't know for sure, but we know for sure, that if you believe in Him you save

To be saved one must obey the commandments....which is to love others as yourself. This is the law and the prophets.

Thank you. And thank you for using the term chosen people. I believe it puts into proper appointment and reiterates the passage term, elect, in Mark 13. Jesus teaches and reminds listeners of the past and shares of things to come.

Why do the most intelligent minds in the world reject the Gospel as foolishness. Are they missing something, you can preach the Bible all day to them and they will just think you're even more foolish for wasting your time

It's a hard Biblical teaching, but many great Bible scholars believe it. I believe that the ability to believe the Bible in it's true sense is also a gift. For the word of God is foolishness to those who are perishing

It is a FALSE Bible teaching. So you will need to explain whether Christ said what is true or false in John 3:17.

TRUE OR FALSE (these are the words of Christ): For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

You (and others of your persuasion) have ignored the significance of this Scripture. You will either you have to admit that what Christ said was true, or accuse Him of a falsehood!

Also in the beginning you were not really sure if Calvinism was true, but now Satan has managed to deceive you into thinking it is true. But this one verse alone BLOWS AWAY Calvinism. And you should not dodge this Scripture, since it could empower you to REJECT Calvinism.

As to a great many Bible scholars, sadly they simply follow the doctrines of men, and superimpose their preconceived ideas upon Scripture. Very, very sad.
