We are not told where the spirit and soul of Moses went at the time of his demise. But it would be reasonable to expect, that since Moses had an extraordinary burial, that God took him to Heaven, just as He took Elijah to Heaven.
why would Satan & Michael be disputing over a body if there is none?

So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the mouth of the Lord. And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day.
(Deuteronomy 34:5-6)

but to me it seems this says there is one, somewhere opposite Beth-peor, in the land of Moab.

Satan is the accuser of our [the] brethren

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the
kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our
brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

Jude 9
9 But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

why did the devil want the body of Moses?
i believe we need to understand 2 Kings 1-2 to understand what Satan and Michael disputed about - they're linked :)

in particular this part -

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho opposite him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed themselves to the ground before him. They said to him, “Behold now, there are with your servants fifty strong men, please let them go and search for your master; perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and cast him on some mountain or into some valley.” And he said, “You shall not send.” But when they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send.” They sent therefore fifty men; and they searched three days but did not find him. They returned to him while he was staying at Jericho; and he said to them, “Did I not say to you, ‘Do not go’?”
Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold now, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad and the land is unfruitful.” He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. He went out to the spring of water and threw salt in it and said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘I have purified these waters; there shall not be from there death or unfruitfulness any longer.’” So the waters have been purified to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
(2 Kings 2:15-22)

but this isn't understood without all the context of 2 Kings 1-2, which i think may help explain the Devil's dispute with Michael - the great prince who keeps watch over Israel, per Daniel 12:1

He steals, kills, and destroys... especially concerning those that he thinks God is using in a big way.

Does it really matter what nutjob wants to do???
Satan's not an idiot.

he deceived every human being, ever, apart from Adam, and a third of the angels.

let's not miss that Michael dare not speak against him himself.

Who said there was no body? I suggested that the body remained inviolate because of Michael, but the soul and spirit of Moses were taken up to Heaven.

Those words are from Zec 3:2, And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Satan represents the things of the world, the things of the earth and death. Consequently Satan wanted the dead body of Moses. The preceding verses in Jud 1:6-8 speak of the wicked:

(6) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
(7) Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
(8) Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

The thing to do is not to follow the things of the world spoken of in the preceding verses. This leads to death and destruction. People seemly revel in such things, we see it on TV all the time, but to look heavenward. We need to take our eyes off earthly things and look into the face of Jesus who conquered sin and death so that we shall have eternal life.

(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Cor 15.)

when did this dispute happen?
It happened then and is happening now. This is spiritual warfare, it is Satan the fallen angel, verses God's angels. Whether or not we realise it, the battle is raging all around us, but thanks be to God, "the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 2Ti 4:18 KJV

you said 'just like Elijah' -- was Elijah's body left on earth?
i guess there's room for that in the text ((?)), but i'd always thought Elijah was translated, bodily. different than Moses, whose body was said to be 'buried.' so i assumed you meant Moses was taken up much like Enoch was.
