I recently received a friend request from a stranger but they seemed legit and a christian so I accepted, but this is a first for me. I usually reject them because I can tell they're either trying to sell something or they're celeb wannabes or something...

So do you ever accept friend requests from strangers on Facebook? (choose ALL that apply)

i have actively boycotted facebook for nearly 2 years because i had a hunch it would be used against us. Look what happened! i have checked on it a few times and discovered someone else is using my account and my name. So i have gotten rid of my cell phone to eliminate the link.

"Yes, if they're kinda hot."

That made me smile, Zero. Thank you.

And no, I don't accept friend requests from strangers on Facebook.

I don't use facebook for the same reason a piano player doesn't use drumsticks - it doesn't do anything I need done. My father uses it a lot to keep up with friends up in some northern state though.

I can answer the thread question though, on a hypothetical basis. If I had facebook I would accept friend requests only from people who were already my friends. I would have to know somebody before I would accept a friend request.

It's not so difficult. A lot of you people already know an awful lot about me.

I'm not on Facebook. I heard of a case some years ago of a girl who was suicidal. She announced it to her "friends" on Facebook, and got no response.

I can't see the point of having hundreds of people in a so called friend's list, when they are just strangers.

But it is a fact that some people like the long friend's list because it makes them look cool and popular.

On the other hand, if you're trying to promote or sell something, then the long friend's list can be very beneficial.

I only accept requests from people I
know well. Hence I only have a limited number of FB friends.

I also set all the security measures up so the public cannot see what I post.

It amazes me that most people give free access to their entire lives on Facebook. Some people tell everything, where they live when they are going in holiday, things they buy etc.

It’s a wonder they don’t get burgled.

No, I’m married, and out of respect for my husband I don’t have male, online friends. Neither here or anyplace else.

If I don’t know the person, I don’t add him/her.

If we have mutual friends, I’ll look who the mutual friends are, but 99.9% of the time, I won’t accept the friend request.

Did you guys know that you don't have to use your real name or provide your real personal info on facebook?
You're supposed to, but a lot of people don't in order to protect themselves, including me... That's why it's often called 'fakebook'.. :sneaky:

Yes, we are aware of this. Did you know there are a lot of people on message boards pretending to be people they are not? 😱
