Hi Hannah, the reason your friend probably thinks pedophilia is worse is because gays and lesbians are typically consenting adults who choose to engage in the sin of homosexuality, whereas children who are raped do not (of course).
That said, if someone questions why I oppose any sexual relationship outside of heterosexual marriage, my answer is normally the same,
because it's sin in the eyes of God and it's in direct opposition to His will ..
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 7-8. An unrepentant, sinful life comes with a VERY high price, particularly in the life to come .. e.g.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Of course, it's always good to deliver a little good news along with the bad, so you might go to the next verse for that,
1 Corinthians 6:11 ("
such WERE some of you" ... :amen:).
God, who justifies the wicked/ungodly (not the righteous), came to save sinners from their sins/sinful lifestyles, yes ..
Mark 2:17; Romans 4:5.
Quite frankly, as Christians, our 'loving' concern ..
1 Corinthians 13:1, must always be for those who still sit in the darkness, who have not heard/do not know or understand the Good News about Jesus, even in the face of those who may hate us for sharing it with them (both the bad news about sin as well the good news about the Lord and His salvation), because if we don't, who will??
You might also ask your friend this question, "
assuming that homosexual acts are as sinful as the Bible tells us that they are, do you think it would it be an act of love or hate if I decided not to speak up and warn them about it if I had the opportunity to do so?"
........1 Corinthians 13
........6 Love .. does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.
