Salvation from the just punishment of a perfect God who WILL bring justice which we deserve having fallen short comes from God and not our walk.

This gift is something God gets ALL of the glory for.

It is given by grace through faith to who-so-ever believes in Jesus....

God is not decieved by a disingenuous faith.

Hebrews 11
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

4102. pistis
Strong's Concordance
pistis: faith, faithfulness
Original Word: πίστις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: pistis
Phonetic Spelling: (pis'-tis)
Short Definition: faith, belief, trust
Definition: faith, belief, trust, confidence; fidelity, faithfulness.

evidence of trust and confidence in your belief would should a genuine faith ENDURES

and this faith is followed by gifts OTHER than salvation

a new heart
a quickened spirit
the indwelling Holy spirit

We may not yet be perfect, our walk does not and can not earn or maintain this gift of salvation....

But all of us who are saved have indeed been made new, born again.... not by our own power either.

God calls

genuine belief is an internal response to this

as is rejection of the truth

or a disingenuous "faith" (tares mixed in with the wheat)

God saves

God makes us new

God provides the growth

What WE ought to do is cling to Him
in our weakness...

We now having new hearts now know good from evil.

We examine ourself accordingly.
("am I acting according to my flesh?")

We seek to be delivered from the selfish pleasures of the flesh we once loved and even sometimes took pride in which God hates.

We seek to be a GOOD and EFFECTIVE witness of Christ to the world as well as a positive example to our bothers and sisters in Christ who may not yet be as far in their walk. (though before God we are no "better" than them)

We do not work to "gain".... we work out of love and appreciation for Him who loved us first.

TLDR : salvation FROM a just punishment is a GIFT from God

given by grace through faith
to who so ever believes in our mighty Lord and savior Jesus Christ

well I already know the answers you will give in response the the verses, but here goes. You said I did not use scripture but here are 4 I used whcih anyone who knows the word would know they are the word of God and not made up stuff.

1. I said jesus died for the world. can you tell me what scripture that is?
2. I said Jesus died that whoever believes wil be given eternal life. Can you tell me what scripture that is?
3. I said it was the will of the father that whoever sees the son and believes in him, will never die, be given eternal life, and be resurrected by him, Can you tell me that scripture?
4. I used the passage which says no greater love has any man, do you know where that is?

of course these are just 4 examples. Yet you said I did not use scripture. which can only lead me to wonder if your reading anything I post at all.
1. John 3:16, Thayer's definition of the Greek translation for the word WORLD in this verse and also for John 1:29, 3:17, 6:33, 12:47, 1 Cor 4:9, and 2 Cor 5:19, 8) any aggregate or general collection of any sort a) the Gentiles as contrasted to the Jews ( Rom 11:12 etc. a) used of believers only 2 through 4 I would have to look them up, and that may be hard to do if you are using another version of the bible other than the King James version. It would help me to comment on the scripture if you would name the book, chapter and verse. I hope that is not asking too much of you.

Have you ever asked Christ to save you and give you forgiveness of your sins?

For the cause of Christ

roger, do you think that I am lost eternally, and you are trying to save me by teaching me that I can accomplish that by my works of confessing and repenting?

In Rom 8:13, Every one that is born of the Spirit, though their sins have been forgiven, do still carry their sinful nature with them until they die a natural death, if we do not mortify the deeds of our flesh we can spiritually die from our fellowship with God. Paul states this fact in Galations by saying, That, that I would do, I do not, and that, that I would not do, I do. All children of God has a battle within themselves, the flesh against the Spirit.
========================================
you are in great 'error'; according to you, it would seem that The Holy Spirit has given us no 'power' to 'over-come'
the wicked ways of this fallen-world'., thus denying our 'Holy Intercessor',..

Paul plainly explains that he has 'run his race' and 'over-come' the wicked one who rules this fallen, decaying world'...

Do you not believe that all born again people have a warfare going on inside of them as Paul explains in the Galation letter?

top priority, our desire to 'over-come' and to please and obey our Saviour...

you may still want to go your own way' but a 'true convert' will only live to serve and obey their Master, Jesus Christ,
and walk in the ways that He has set before His called, chosen, elect...

Christ died to restore the creation he loves to himself. Because if he did not die, All mankind would be lost forever. Please try to make things so complicated when they are not.

no
i BELIEVE
OTN is saying if you are TRUELY born of God

you now DESIRE to walk as our Lord and savior Jesus

this is your new nature<- does not EVER lead to hell

those who still DESIRE the things of the flesh <- no new heart

we may have spots where we are weak
we may fail at times

but as His children

we hear His voice

get up

and keep walking

if we feel defeated He helps us up

if we are being stubborn He .... humbles us... even if it hurts

failure to do what we want (what we want being righteousness)

is different than living in sin
taking pleasure in it
and using Gods grace as an excuse

being born again is not a choice

its a transformation
and gift from God by grace through faith

salvation is a part of this <- also not some choice or reward for your walk
Ok..agreed with you for the most part..but we get "SAVED" by our CHOICE (to accept or reject ...after that..readung the Bible..learning how we should and SUBMITTING to God our sinful ways..only THEN can God start transforming us..some people dont like to submit certain areas of thier lives or arent "convicted" about areas in thier lives..thats between them and God..but "by thier fruits you shall know them"...no fruit.."sick" heart..AND NO..not saying that if we arent producing fruit we arent SAVED ..but biblically it talks about "pruning' tooo..OUCH..lol

I'm asking you the same question I ask everybody. I want the hear a testimony of how they came to know Christ. It has been my experience that many have an intellectual knowledge but have never experienced a John 16:8-11 moving of the Holy Spirit in their life.

I would like to know if you are a Christian. Unbelievers cannot be discipled they must first come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

I am always concerned about folks that are reluctant to give a yes answer to the salvation question.

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

For the cause of Christ

Ps..

You hit the nail on the head with your last statement by salvation is not a reward (which suggests that salvation isnt earned by good works..KUDOS). Bevause we love Jesus..we try and do what pleases him..we fall short many times..but like you said..we get up and perservere..we will NEVER be ,good enough" in our lifetime..n our human bodies to be in the physical presence of God..hence..heart mind..soul transformation..lifelong! We just gotta enjoy the "journey..both good and bad..and TRUST GOD that EVERYTHING is for our BEST...i DO also believe that God gives us free will and ALLOWS things to happen in our lives even though thats not His choice for us..He neither manipulates or begs us..He wants us willing to accept and love him..and will sometimes patiently wait but always persues His children!

chester, All my life I had been burdened with the fact that when I would try to study the bible, I would run across several scriptures that I thought (my thinking being wrong) contradicted each other, Such as; Eph 2:8-9, We are saved by grace and not by the works of man, and then, Acts 2:40, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Salvation, meaning , a deliverance, tells us that we are delivered from hell into heaven, and we are delivered from troubles in this world, if we follow God's commandments. By understanding that we are delivered many times from things of the world while we live here on earth by following his commandments got rid of many contradictions. Like I have said, "most of the salvation scriptures are talking about being delivered while we are here on earth", so, there is a salvation by works (which is here on earth) and there is a salvation eternally by God's grace apart from man's works.
I wish I had more time to dialogue with you, but, unfortunately, I don't! :( I would love to look at Scriptures and discuss this concept in more detail . . . I like your attitude and seriousness . . . but here in a few sentences is a summary of my thinking . . .

I will comment on this comment you made: "Like I have said, "most of the salvation scriptures are talking about being delivered while we are here on earth", so, there is a salvation by works (which is here on earth) and there is a salvation eternally by God's grace apart from man's works."

(1) No problem with your differentiation of two kinds of salvation Scriptures - good insight, though I don't think it is nearly as clear as you are saying it is . . .

(2) Anytime you say "salvation by works" on CC you are going to get an immediate and loud reaction and most of the people here will shut you off immediately as a heretic and a works-salvationist. I think a careful reading of what you are saying shows this is not what you are, though!

(3) I understand you as saying that if we obey Christ in our daily lives that this will deliver us physically while we are here on earth.

(4) In response to #3, I think you are right that the way that one lives will have a direct effect on one's life on Earth. This is true even for an unbeliever.

(5) The problem is that the two "salvations" are not as easily separable as you imply. By what you say, thus if we live right on Earth and do all the good works we can and should we will be "delivered" here on Earth - hence - the believer if he is obedient will not have problems, sickness, persecution, etc. - now I don't know if you believe that or not, but it is a direct corollary of the teaching you are promoting here.

(6) I do not believe that the Christian if he is obedient will not have sickness, difficulties, or persecution. It is always our faith in Christ and not our works that are the core of our relationship with the Saviour.

(7) So, yes, works are important, and the believer who does works will find positive results in this life here on Earth, but those works come out of his faith in Christ, which still makes all the positive results because of Jesus Christ.

i disagree

i believe we are saved by grace through faith

not choice

i didnt CHOOSE to believe Jesus is my Lord and savior

nor do i CHOOSE to continue to believe it

i dont CHOOSE to believe what is true

i just choose to seek truth

no matter how much i want
i cannot choose to believe i am saved by cheddar cheese

to me that is ridiculous

i cannot choose to believe i can fly

now being honest about what i believe is a choice

like when peter lied to save his own skin before the crows

he knew what he believed

he just chose to lie

So you did not choose to say yes to jesus when he offered you his gift? then how did you recieve it? or am I misunderstanding you?
