He could not be hid-- Mark 7:24

The fame of Christ had gone out too widely over the whole country for Him to travel anywhere without being recognised. No doubt there was something in His appearance and bearing that distinguished Him from other men and soon revealed Him. There must have been a rare sweetness in His face, the outpouring of the great love of His heart. There was no halo upon His features, as artists represent Him in their pictures; yet there must have been a glow of grace that revealed Him to sad and hungry hearts.

But really Christ can never be hid. He can be in no place in this world very long and His presence not be recognised. You may hide sweet flowers so that they cannot be seen, but soon the fragrance will disclose their hiding-place. So the sweetness of the Saviour's life and love will always tell when He is near. When He enters a human heart, He cannot be hidden; for soon His Spirit begins to breathe out in all the words, actions, and life of the new follower. When He enters a home, He cannot longer be hidden, for the home is changed--worldness, bitterness, and sin giving place to prayer and praise, to the spirit of love and gentleness, and to purity and holiness. When He enters a community He cannot remain concealed. The stories of missionary work illustrate this. Cannibal islands are changed into God-fearing, man-loving settlements. Christ will always reveal His presence in this world.

The same is true of all faithful disciples. A Christian cannot be hid. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Matthew 5:14) If the love of Christ is in his heart, people around him will very soon know it. They will see it in his bearing, in his disposition, in the way he honours God, in the way he treats his fellow-men. When a man can hide his religion, he has not much of it to hide. True religion breathes out in fragrance, shines out in light.

Thank you very much, Rose.

It is intriguing today that critics of Christians are not actually people in the world, but some who claim to be Christians, or have the knowledge of the Bible. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Corinthians 8:2

I would rather help my brothers and sisters in Christ to rise up than to pull them down. I would rather advice them than to condemn them, and I would rather encourage them than to discourage them. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35 There are many factors or branches as far as love is concerned, but I would like us to ponder on these two attributes of love: Love is polite and kind.

Don't be rude. John is one of the best posters here. I'm blessed. Carry on, John.
not trying to be rude, just being honest. there is no question, no discussion topic, just a mini sermon. why is it posted in the discussion sub forum, thats what the blog sub forum is for.

The crowds of people following Him may have made Him stand out a little lol. But I know what you mean. He was purposely ugly so that no one would desire Him romantically, but I'm sure there were lots of ugly people, not everyone was a supermodel like Sarah- which is why she stood out. But you are right, christians have the same thing- God's Word.

There are people on here who don't have a human faced profile picture, and even if they do, like me, you don't know what they look like. You see who they are by the truth they share or the hostility they show. The woman at the well had a reaction to Him being a jew, but a much bigger reaction from realising He was much more than that. Aside from words and loving actions, I'm sure love shown from His eyes, but i think only righteous hearts could see it.

Do you think they recognized him from the posters or the tv ads? Point being, how do you recognize someone you haven't ever seen their image of?

There must have been a rare sweetness in His face, the outpouring of the great love of His heart
OMG, what does rare sweetness look like?

".... he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." Isa 53:2

And what is that 'we should desire him'?

So is love in the air?
