I mean, what If a person doesn’t sin outwardly but they had a desire In their mind to sin.

To man as long as he didn’t actually commit the sin they say that I thought about It but I didn’t do It so then I didn’t sin but that would only be ok If the person was under grace and In the process of renewing their mind but nevertheless they ARE still sinning,so then I’m saying that we still sin In thoughts and anyone saying that they don’t sin In thought Is deceiving themselves.
That is interesting how long does a person have until the under grace is no more. I'm curious if the bible actually says no biggie while the mind is being renewed and if a person knows that it is wrong, doesn't that say they know right from wrong.

Matt 5
27You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell.

I believe that Judas did repent and gave back the thirty pieces of silver, Matt 27:3. We usually do not repent until God convicts us (condemns us).
He might of felt REMORSE that he betrayed Jesus..or guilty n thats why he gave back the silver and hung himself but dont remember reading that he repented..

Here's something that may interest you about the fear of the lord....

. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

We cant be held accountable for a paricular thing that might be a sin if we dont know amy better..once we KNOW its a sin..God holds us accountable..m

In the KJV it says "every man" instead of "everyone." Of course, it does not mean every man on earth. It means every elect man. This is a prime example of many other scriptures being interpreted falsely that use the words, all men, any, etc. The Kingdom of God in this verse has reference to Christ's church. not heaven.

What does this have to do with Judas preaching the Gospel to the lost, because he was a believer?

@justpassinthrough

Here...

"In the gospels. Many Christians believe that the Sermon on the Mount is a form of commentary on the Ten Commandments. It portrays Christ as the true interpreter of the Mosaic Law. In the Expounding of the Law, Jesus said that he did not come to abolish the law or the prophets, but to fulfill them (Matthew 5:17)."

Jesus didnt come to ABOLISH THE LAWS BUT TO FUFILL IT! ...

So in talking all about your love tangent how does connect in YOUR mind of the OP "WALKING IN THE FEAR OF THE LORD?" Remember..i said YOUR MIND so i dont want you to sling a buch of Bible verses at me..people can do tgat all day but its not the Bible being disputed here its people INTERPRETATION of the Bible thats in question...
It seems you are under the impression the Commandments originated with Moses.

Abraham walked in obedience before Him 430 years before Moses gave the law.

because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” Genesis 26:5

Judas just didn't want to be known as "that guy" he was paid for the deed but thought by returning the money his name would not be mentioned.
Greeting your rabbi with a kiss was customary back in the day. But Jesus said must you betray me with a kiss. Ouch caught red handed.
I believe he also called Judas friend in one of the gospels extending a olive branch to this soon doomed soul but Judas ignores this and focuses on his own ambition.
The love of Christ can cut to the heart as it is in the story of Jesus and Judas. Also in the story of Jesus and the Jews.
Pilate ask a very important question "what shall you do with Jesus? We know what that answer was. What is ours?
We can cling to the rock (Jesus) stand on the rock but to reject the rock will only fall on you and smash you into pieces.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Well that will follow repentance but that is not repentance.
Repentance is "metanoia" which is a word found outside of scripture in ancient Greek writings as well and is well understood from a etymological linguistic point of view.

It might be helpful to know that,

Both Luther and Calvin desired to remove the concept of penance from the meaning of repentance.

They very accurately looked at the root of the meaning of the word repentance: meta=after; noeo=to think. Put the two together and the effect of meta was “after the fact” or “afterwards.”

Essentially, it means to think about something later on and have a reversal of opinion about it. Thus, repentance meant “to change the mind.” Specifically in the context of scripture—to change the mind about Christ.
Hmmmm...never heard that before

Well, my dear sister Jewel,
If I am to toe the line of philosophy and logic I would easily accept your rationale...

Only that when it comes to the word of God, I don't like basing my faith on logic and philosophy because I see them not safe at all.
It isn't safe for anyone, cos God's ways are not our ways.

Now based on your position I wanted to know your take on these scriptures:

1) From Our Lord Jesus Himself:

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matt 10:28

2) From the beloved Apostle Paul:

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Romans 11:20-22

My dear Sister, Could you please tell me your take on these scriptures?
Again..that word fear almost makes me cringe and run..respect and reverence yet but ...

This is the WHOLE passage so youre not taking things out of context

Isaac and Abimelek

"26 Now there was a famine in the land—besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time—and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar. 2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. 3 Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. 4 I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring[a] all nations on earth will be blessed, 5 because Abraham obeyed me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.” 6 So Isaac stayed in Gerar."

Sorry dont agree..theres things that God purposely witholds

Heres scriptures guys....:)

"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. (Ps. 145:3)

"Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand? (Job 26:14)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isa. 55:8–9)

"Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?" (Rom. 11:33–34; cf. Job 42:1–6; Ps. 139:6, 17–18; 147:5; Isa. 57:15; 1 Cor. 2:10–11; 1 Tim. 6:13–16)

These verses teach that not only is God’s whole being incomprehensible but each of his attributes—his greatness, power, thoughts, ways, wisdom, and judgments—are well beyond human ability to fathom fully. Not only can we never know everything there is to know about God, we can never know everything there is to know about even one aspect of God’s character or work.

...we can never know everything there is to know about even one aspect of God’s character or work.
I don't think you understood what I was trying to say,I'm not saying that we are GOD I'm saying that our spirits were made perfect and nothing else needs to be added to the spirit made perfect.

Therefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming fire” – Hebrews 12:28-29.

The above scripture tells us that godly fear is a work of grace. Nowadays, there are very few teachings about the fear of God. And most of the few teachers that teach about the fear of God, define the fear of God to mean the same thing as the love of God. Others interpret it to mean reverence. But the above opening text clearly differentiates reverence from godly fear with the word “And”.

The fear of God is distinct from the love of God and reverence for God. We can clearly see this distinction by checking through the original words which they were translated from.

The love of God is from the Greek word “Agape”, meaning affection. Reverence for God, as used in our opening text, is from the Greek word “entrepo” meaning, to respect. While the fear of God which we are now discussing, is from the Greek word “eulabeia” meaning caution or dread.

Hence, we are to walk in the fear or dread of God for our own good. The Lord doesn’t want us to fear anyone or anything, but he does want us to fear and tremble before him. Hence, in the new covenant, he says he will put his fear in our hearts, so we shouldn’t depart from him (Jeremiah 32:40).

Then the Lord Jesus tells us again, that we should not fear those that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather we should fear him (God) who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28).

So Why Should We Fear God?

Sometime back, while I shared this message of the fear of God with a young man, he asked me; “can you love and fear your father at the same time?” I replied, “Yes, I loved my parents for whom they were to me, but at the same time, I feared them, because if I messed up, I would be rebuked or punished”

When John talks about perfect love casting away fear, he meant condemnational fear (1John 4:18). And this condemnational (bond) fear, that John says perfect love casts away, is different from the godly fear we are talking about here.

I have felt both of them. Condemnational fear, like John says, has torment. It leads to self and people condemnation. It also leads to struggle with sin. It kills faith. As I struggled with this kind of fear some years ago, like John says, my encounter with the divine love of God by revelation, gave me eternal victory from the clutches of condemantional fear.

While godly fear on the other hand, is a gift of the Spirit of Grace. It confers mastery over sin. Godly fear helps you depart from sin and perfect holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1). Godly fear stabilises love and faith in the heart of a believer.

As a matter of fact, many Christian who confess righteousness with no practical evidence of righteousness in their characters and words, are actually suffering from the missing link of the fear of God. They get carried away with God’s love, goodness and faith. But pay absolutely no attention to the fear of God, divine severity and eternal judgement…

Because they have been wrongly taught or wrongly believe that the fear of God is the same thing as the Love of God or mere reverence or awe.

Now let’s see the scriptural reasons why we need to fear God...

Securing Our Eternal Salvation: “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”—Phil 2:12. From scriptures, we see that a saved soul can be cut off if he doesn’t work out his salvation with caution and trembling (Romans 11:20-22). Judas Iscariot lost his bishopric because he didn’t work out his salvation with fear and trembling.

Mastery in Holiness: From scriptures we see that the fear of God is the master or perfect key for Holy or godly living. Here is exactly what the word of God says concerning this:

“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” 2Corinthians 7:1.

Enjoying Divine Wisdom: The bible tells us that the fear of God gives us access to divine wisdom, which is uncanny wisdom. As a matter of fact, the bible defines wisdom to mean the fear of God. Here is the exact scripture: “And unto man he said, behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding”—Job 28:28. Hence, to be walking in the fear of God, is to be walking in divine wisdom.

To Enjoy Divine Blessings: “Praise you the Lord, blessed is the man that fears the Lord that delights greatly in his commandments. His descendants shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endures forever”—Psalm 112:1-3. So the man or woman that walks in the fear of God enjoys divine blessings amongst which is wealth and riches.

So the list above, are the major biblical reasons we must have to walk in the fear of God. God does not want us to be afraid of anyone or anything. Neither does he want us to have condemnational or tormenting fear. But he does desire and instructs us to fear him for our ultimate and eternal good.

Remain Blessed!

Emeke Odili
Good post and choice of verses. Another one that comes to mind in respect to the proper fear.

A short chapter but a good one

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.Psalms 130:1-8

The bible says that It Is appointed once for man to die and then the judgement.

If a person Is not reborn and they are sinning, then they will be judged by GOD' perfect standard of righteousness(the law) and they will come short of the glory of GOD but If a person has been born again of the SPIRIT of GOD then they will seek to purify themselves physically even as they are pure spiritually so the Issue for the reborn person Is to renew their minds to the new creation they have become.
