I, for the record, am a OSAS believer. Christ's blood covers past, present and future sins. I would never assume to be good, much less perfect with no sin. I sin every day in thought, word or deed. It pains me, and I hate my sin. I repent daily.

Folks like Jesse Morrell (Youtube street precher) twists scripture leading people to believe that you must be without sin to enter Heaven.

What do you think? Do these people have eternal life?

Any Perfectionists on the board are also welcome and encouraged to join in the conversation.

No one is good but God. Jesus own words.

No one is perfect.. If we could be, we would stop needing grace.

I don’t know Jesse Morrell neither have I heard of hip up till now.

As far as they having eternal they very well could. And yes you can’t have sin to enter into heaven; You have to be perfect.

It is not about whether or not you are a perfectionist but if you have put your faith in Jesus.

Jesus helps those that help themselves. Why would they go to hell...that is such an oxymoron! If you try to do everything right most likely it spills over into your spiritual life as well!

I agree with you except the part about repenting daily.Remember that JESUS paid the price for sin with HIS blood on the cross once and for all and the spirits of just men was made perfect and sealed ,and HIS promises are yes and amen and now the Issue Is not sin but faith In HIS WORD.

For GOD SO loved the world thatHE gave HIS only begotten SON that whosoever believes In HIM should not perish but have ETERNAL LIFE.

Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) and will be saved based on the merits of doing so are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness (1 John 1:8-10).

They can preach sinlessness in the flesh but by their very preaching they will be judged and their sins will be exposed on the day of judgement and they will be cast into the eternal lake of fire because you did not believe in the sufficiency of the atonement of the LORD Jesus Christ to cover all their sins.. They trusted in their attainment of sinlessness.. Something they will never attain.. The day of judgement all their secret hidden sins will be exposed..

This is why we must rely 100% on the righteousness of our LORD Jesus Christ who has secured for us our place in eternity with Him.. All glory and honor and boasting is for our LORD Jesus our Hero our Redeemer..

The Victory is 100% His..

I have listened to several of his YouTube videos and visited his other websites no where does he clearly lay down the Gospel that I have heard or seen.

Jesse Morrell says he preaches Good News but all he really lays down are guilt and shame with no real redemption.

If you find the Gospel in his words somewhere I would really like to read it or hear it.

I think that this will be a case of ignorance, and God will be merciful. They believe in Jesus, that He died for them and that now, they try (demand) a life that is pleasing to Him. Which in their eyes is to walk righteously, period. I think compassion wells up in God for them because He doesn't want people to feel condemned in their heart, but to give them peace and rest. Assurance. Something they lack in moments they fall short, making them vulnerable to the enemy's tactics of condemnation and guilt.

I believe they shall be saved, and that God will welcome them full of compassion, "Oh my dear son." We often see them as an enemy to the Gospel, but truly they are hurt lambs in need of love, and correction. Encouragement and peace. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ.

This is correct. And that is why sinners are justified by grace through faith and clothed with the righteousness of Christ. Which means that God deems us as righteous when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

But the Gospel also demands repentance. While sinless perfection is not feasible as long as "the flesh" has not been eradicated, God has made it plain that Christians are to be holy as God is holy. Which sets a very high standard for all believers.

As to this preacher twisting Scripture, I am not familiar with this preacher and what else he says, or whether he claims that Christians can be sinlessly perfect.

I was curious when you said the Gospel demands repentance, did you mean repentance as for salvation?
I agree with repentance for salvation or as I have heard It stated as be obedient to faith and say yes but what about progressive sanctification, would you agree that repentance as for progressive sanctification Is talking about renewing the mind to the new creation that we have become?

Yes, repentance -- a total turning from sins and idols and a total turning to God and Christ -- are essential for salvation.

But after that, repentance is also necessary for sanctification, since we are to constantly examine ourselves, renew our minds, and forsake any sins and idols which might impact on our sanctification.

Yes,a born again christian will repent of doing something that they use to like doing that Is contrary to the new creation they have become and should want and are now equipped to renew their minds.

There is but one gospel not 2, 3 or even 50...........any embellishment to the 1 "ONE" gospel and or subtractions = a false gospel void of power to save........most of those who name Christ disagree with this truth....

faith plus anything to gain, keep, embellish or top off salvation = NO gospel of God

I do not know the name Jesse Morrell per say. At least not till you posted it to our attention. I wonder if he's like Ray Comfort? Who produced the ridiculous video in concert with Kirk Cameron, "God made banana's" ?

Perfectionism I would think is a mental disorder. Likely works itself into the life of those now diagnosed with OCD.
We are made perfect in Christ due to our being reborn in his spirit at repentance, justification, and our baptism, if possible to be baptized.

That doesn't mean we never make mistakes. It means those that we do make are not that which affords us the fallen label by the biblical meaning, of sinner.
It simply means God is now , knowing we are his own in the body of Christ, putting before us opportunity to put the wisdom of God's teaching, The Word, into action. Functioning in this fallen world we are within but not of anymore, using the eyes grace bestowed to navigate it.

To the first question? My answer is no. I don't think anyone goes to the hell many Christians imagine is to become a reality.

Jesus helps those that help themselves.
Hi HappyChristianGal, I remember hearing that quote, "God helps those who help themselves", regularly when I was growing up, but I've never been able to find it in the Bible (or even the idea behind it alluded to there).

Do you know where "God helps those who help themselves" can be found in the Bible, by any chance?

Thanks!

It is not written in the Bible...it’s in Poor Richard’s almanac.
But, what it means to me...is God can bless you with many gifts, but if you don’t have the motivation to get up and utilize them, then they are wasted. Think of the life rafts God sent the man that was drowning and drowned.
