I met a guy that I've been talking to for about a month and a half now. He's awesome and he's been really helping me through this hard time I've been having w/ my ex --- he's been a true support for me.

I always have a hard time talking about my faith, but, I have an easy time Showing people what I believe in.

So, this guy has been talking a lot about energy, positive energy and different things about energy. I don't feel comfortable asking him what he believes in. But, when someone speaks about energy a lot, do you have any idea what they might believe in?

God can use anyone in your life. They don't have to have a certain set of beliefs to be used by him. So what he believes really only matters if you intend to either take spiritual direction from him or are hoping that the two of you will become a couple. And it's a little on the blunt side, but if you can't talk about the important things including faith and beliefs with this guy, you really have no business dating him either. No one is going to be able to tell you what he believes but him, it's a fairly good bet though that if he's using words and terms fairly distant from the ones that Christians use, it's because he is part of a different belief system that uses those words.

Certain buzz words like energy get used but may be describing the same thing we call by different labels. In laboratory settings you can reproduce the effects of love and hate or emotions on physical things. Our emotions generate sensible electricity or...energy. I think you should ask him his beliefs. It may be a great way to introduce the gospel.

This is generally new age belief. Which is occult based. Karma. Power in crystals/rocks. Chakras. Subjective morality. Reincarnation. No God entity. Meditation. Etc...
We put out energy into "the universe" (the equivalent of God, but not an actual being) and that energy returns to us. It's a works based salvation.
They tend to combine various religious beliefs to create their own version of religion. One friend I had into new age also claimed to believe in Jesus, heaven and the bible. Just very skewed versions.
Chances are this is what hes into. New age is very self styled. So which exact beliefs he holds and how strongly can vary.

That sounds like Feng Sui. It's the ancient chinese belief that positive and negative energy flows through and around things and that if you set your environment up a certain way you can direct positive energy into your life. I used to be interested in it. It was a very popular mainstream fad in the 90's. I think Oprah had a show about it.

He sounds like he has a New Age type belief system.. When people talk about positive energy they tend to be New Agers..

Thanks for the info the both of you. Feng sui and new age beliefs. I don't know much about either lol. He hasn't mentioned anything about chakras, rocks or crystals --- just energy and stuff about the universe too. Also he does talk about positive and negative energy. He's big into how the universe affects different ways of life. I know he believes in evolution. He knows I believe in God. I am terrible w/ witnessing to people but been trying to pray for him and asked that the holy spirit plant a seed in his life

Lots of good ideas to consider here...
Interestingly, when my spouse and I were going to marriage counseling I often referred to positive vs negative energy to describe the atmosphere of our communication challenges...
Simply put - I tended to refer to my personality type as an 'optimist' while my wife tended to be more of a 'pessimist.'
I simply tended to have 'the glass half full' outlook on things, whereas she tended to have 'the glass is half empty' perspective.
At the end of the day (the optimist in me) - I do believe that mutual faith, and good communication skills and practices can persevere even if one partner tends to have more 'positive energy' and the other tends to have more 'negative energy.'
I saw the positive-negative energy as a healthy balance for 27 years...
Unfortunately, in our case the 'negative energy' manifested (became a lost-soul that I prayed would find her way back) becoming the critical achilles heel for our unfortunate outcome.
I hope this is helpful, and if your relationship progresses I hope that he is open to joining you in a mutually supporting journey with the Lord as the ultimate source of positive energy in our universe... Focus upon what you have in common... Have fun and enjoy this opportunity to expose him to our Lord.
God Bless

Positive and negative energy, the universe.... It sounds like he is into the Tao (pronounced "dow"). It an ancient chinese philosophy that believes positive and negative energy flows through everything in the universe. It's symbol is the black and white circle which depicts the balance of positive and negative energy called ying and yang... It believes everything in life should be balanced.
