I had schizophrenia, panic attacks and an anxiety disorder and God totally healed me!

Peter Adelaide.png

When I [Peter] was about 24 I was living on my own and I had a really bad mental breakdown
which put me back in Glenside Psychiatric Hospital.
It is hard to explain how I felt then, but after the breakdown, it really crippled me.
My diagnosis was Schizophrenia, panic attacks and an anxiety disorder.

I could barely talk, I couldn’t express emotions and I couldn’t dress or shave myself;
I felt absolutely shocking.
After about a month in Glenside Psychiatric Hospital,
I went home to live with my parents, but after about six months I wasn’t getting any better.
I was going down physically as well.
I was in Glenside most of the time and only came home some weekends.

Then long time friends talked to Mum and Dad, telling them I could be healed.
I had just sat slumped in my chair at the kitchen table; no one thought I was listening, so they were stunned when
I suddenly said, “if I can be healed it will be by Jesus Christ”.

I went to my first Pentecostal Revival meeting in 1982 with my Mum and Dad.
At the second meeting we went to, I decided to get baptised (by full immersion).
I knew I had to get baptised to receive the Holy Spirit so I thought “what have I got to lose?”
I got baptised under the water and when I walked back to the change room I realised that I felt completely normal;
the sickness had just left me.
I could talk again.

My Dad saw me across the Vogue Theatre auditorium as I left the change room and saw me smile at him, something he
had not seen me do in years.
He asked me how I felt and I told him that I had been healed.
Then I received the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, at a House Meeting six weeks later.

It has been a real blessing ever since.
I have been employed all these years and Mum and I look after each other now.
I would just like to praise the Lord.

More and more I am coming to realize all illness is an attack from the adversary, Christ in us defeats them all.

yes shittim,

you are spot-on!
but, we can only 'come-out-alive' if our Saviour intervenes on our behalf, else, we 'will be defeated'...

Please note that this is not my personal testimony;
but rather a repost of one of many hundreds of available testimonies that we have in The Revival Fellowship.
I know Peter and his mother who fellowship at a southern suburb art deco theatre affectionately known as
The Vogue Theatre.
Pentecostal faith and doctrines came out of the 'divine healing' movement of the late 19th and early 20th
centuries.

In The Revival Fellowship everybody is baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of
speaking in new tongues. Everybody has testimonies to their lives before and after they were filled with the
Holy Spirit and power.
Testimonies to many miracles and healings through believing the scriptures and that the experience of the first church
is available today through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit again as it was in the beginning.

Thanks for sharing your amazing testimony of healing, Peter. We truly serve an awesome big powerful God. Your story is a reminder that the Lord’s grace and faithfulness toward His people are beyond measure; His mercies are eternal and new every morning. If we lean on Him, walk with Him, and trust Him even in the midst of dark and confusing circumstances, He will never forsake us. Sending prayers and blessings to you and your family!

Not all who have the holy spirit are given the gift of tongues, that's a false measure to see if someone is saved.

More and more I am coming to realize all illness is an attack from the adversary, Christ in us defeats them all.
An old book I"m just starting to read quotes, "We and the world, my children, will always be at war.
Retreat is impossible. Arm yourselves." Leif Enger. The book is called, 'Waking the Dead" by John Eldridge.

"My diagnosis was Schizophrenia, panic attacks and an anxiety disorder. " Waggles - you are right to note it was a diagnosis. It did not and does not belong to you nor anyone. It is from Satan. I was diagnosed with this as well. I didn't understand so much then. I called on God but was kept from the bible by the deceiver. I'm able to read now and am stronger than I've ever been in this world.

We do not have cancer, per se. We have a mere diagnosis of cancer. It's so important to call it who's it is ... for it is not of God.

39 stripes healed us of all of the maladies that Satan dishes out. Now, therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." We do not need to lament or worry about what the world thinks or labels the maladies. They do not belong to us. I'm so happy for you. God bless! -student

Baloney.. Illness is a result of the evil, corrupted, fallen world we live in. It is NOT an attack of the enemy. Don't give him credit...

double baloney back at you. It is Jesus Will that you and all of us be healed and well, the problem is never on His end.
He paid for our divine healing and protection 2000 years ago.

I didn't say the problem was on His end. If He wanted us all healed and well, He would do it but that's IMPOSSIBLE in a fallen, evil mortal world. We can't be immortal in a mortal world.. :/ Illness does NOT come from the devil, it comes from the mucked up world we live in..

Jesus modeled how we are to live, that is why He said it was better for us that he go, for then He would send the Comforter, which he did of course. Now that He indwells His Own we are allowed to walk in His anointing, that is why he said in these days greater works than His would be done, He also added that for most they would have an outward form of Godliness but deny the power thereof.
best wishes

So why does He allow so many to suffer and die horribly from cancer and other diseases? If He wanted us healed in a once and for all time shot, He would do it. The fact that so many needlessly suffer and die proves that He won't heal ALL of us in THIS lifetime..

He gave us dominion, it's in Genesis, we have failed to accept and walk in the dominion He created us to walk in. Jesus never told anyone "this is too tough for me, you better go to the Dr. for this condition".
ALL authority has been given to Him. We pray in Jesus Name.
We have not because we ask not, we ask and receive not because we ask amiss.

How about you guys stop spoiling my testimony post - a wonderful and marvellous miracle - and start up
your own thread on the theology of unbelief and why God does not always heal.
Please respect that this is the testimonies forum and not the gladiatorial bible discussion forum.

In brotherly love,
Nick
