if people would just consult scripture instead of trying to discern with their eyes, I do believe a conclusion would come about that is definitive

in this day and age, we cannot be passively wondering if this is God or not

we need to KNOW

that is my opinion

Was the woman a saved Christian, or someone seeking Jesus who hasn't been born again yet?

That's the whole ballgame for me. If it's the former, then this man is a horrible Pastor.
If the latter, I still don't like it in front of the whole congregation unless she has already been spoken to in private by just a few Church members.

The glaring issue with modern churches is that they are driven by emotions and feelings, rather than biblical facts. The preachers have learned to reject any notion of an Authorized Bible and wrestle multiple meanings from multiple translations so that they can convince the lemmings that follow them to believe anything he says - never mind what the clear teaching of Scriptures say. As a result, we have these feel-good Megachurches where the flocks come to be told that they are just okay and have their feathers preened. One example is the fraud Joel Olsteen and his fake gospel.

The people don't want to be told about personal sins and biblical convictions regarding holy living and biblical separation . . . they are fully satisfied with their Laodicean church . . .

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches" (Revelation 3:14-22)

the problem with broad sweeping brush observations are

1. they seem to assume it applies to everyone but the author

and

2. people in the US tend to look at their own churches and forget the rest of the world

I live in the US but I am not American

I think solutions are better offerings than the complaints that flare up here on a regular basis and you are relatively new here so I tend to kind of go 'uh huh' when a new person just starts 'fixing' everything

There is no 'fix' for it . . . it must follow the course that was set for it in prophecy - we are in the last days and John gave us the pattern on Patmos.
oh you didn't understand

you know, and not to be snarky here, but there are believers who are not Baptist

I still think Henry is super cute though

It doesn't matter whether people call themselves a baptist or simply a Christian - what matters is their biblical convictions drawn from the Word of God.

It is sad that on an internet message board the only thing one has to judge another are words . . . feedback is simply unavailable - for if it were you would not feel that I am being condescending or rude.

2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Such public humiliation should result in a personal injury lawsuit against the guy.

Why don't we just stick with preaching the word of God and trusting the Holy Spirit to bring souls to Christ?

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

For the cause of Christ

I don't really wish to make that call. Sure I could go by a feeling, but I think we should look at the fruit. In the end is God glorified? Did she receive healing? Did she repent? Did the congregation show compassion towards her? Did they lead her on the right path? Did this word of knowledge rekindle her passion for the Lord, and bring reconciliation?

The reason I am apprehensive about making such a call is that if it was of the Lord, at the Holy Spirit's direction, I would be in opposition to the Lord on a call He made. I am not saying we can't use discernment, but sometimes people's discernment isn't of the Spirit but their comfort zones. They witness the miraculous and oppose it because they don't understand it.

Maybe we would've ministered that word of knowledge in a different manner, but considering his position and the nature of the meeting, people understand that certain things about them will be "exposed" because they are receiving a word. No one has to come up, but if someone is up at the front giving words of knowledge and you don't want to be exposed, then first, you need to deal with some private issues you've got going on in your life, and secondly, you shouldn't be at that meeting (knowing the nature of the meeting).
Or, don't respond when they call you out, lol.

In answer to your question, look at the fruit.
Of course gifts ceased. Associating satanic work with God is also equally blasphemous- so what can we say? do we say the word of God is ambiguous and we can not confidently make judgement in such cases? No, we know what's happening here even if the actors themselves don't really understand.

Do you think the following actors understood what they deed was wrong or do you think they were fooled and they also fooled others:

Matt 7:21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

These once great Christians were fully convinced that the works are from the Lord (of course they are Christians, they can't be any other group- they used the name of the Lord to perform miracles)- the reason they have guts to ask such a question during judgement.

If anyone thinks they have a gift of healing, why don't they try it in a hospital- after all 'God will be glorified' even more, but truly speaking, God is not glorified in such things.

Couple of points here. Satan seeks to kill, steal, destroy. You should not ascribe miraculous healings to him. I do not believe the Lord always physically heals people for a variety of reasons, but we should not say that He never performs healing miracles through people either.

The key to the Matthew 7 passage is found in verse 23, when Jesus tells them He NEVER KNEW THEM. Not that He knew them at one time but their sin and deceiving people caused Jesus to leave them. He NEVER KNEW THEM. They were NEVER born again, made new in Christ.

But it does illustrate just how powerful the Name of Jesus is that these fake Christians were able to do these things.

I just don't believe there's such a thing as an unbeliever 'healing in the name of Jesus' but i know that there's an unbeliever who is duped into thinking they are believers, who unknowingly use the power of satan to do miracles and it is these that Jesus refers to in Matthew 7.
Atheists/Hindus/Muslims/pagans/satanists and all other groups of 'unbelievers' can not go around healing or claiming to heal in the name of Jesus.

Note; when Jesus says many he means many. How many of the so called Christians claim to heal or be healed in the name of Jesus in these end times?

One thing is for sure, the coming of antichrist is accompanied by wonderful displays which serve to propagate a lie and many will fall for it.

Satan's ministry is to convince saved people that they are still lost, and lost people that they are saved.
