...in the bible, have you found any new nuggets that you'd like to share or discuss?
This verse I believe is a powerful verse. I believe it says much more than people think it says who pass over it very casually. (Ecc. 4:2)

Consider it.

Tons. Very deep things even that took me awhile to wrap my head around. Presently delving into Revelation 9, and it has been fascinating, and there is still more to dig and understand yet. In Daniel 11, God has shown me the repetition of history at least three times in the same chapter, using the same exact verses.

God has shown me the meaning of the sea of glass, and many other things, such as the silence for half an hour, and the various time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.

God has shown me deep type in the OT, and granted me understanding of many things therein. He is gracious, and on occasion, gifts me with understanding even when I wasn't looking, as a present, and the ideas light up my whole brain to comprehend it and to think how dark it was before the thought came from heaven. and how much brighter it was after the thought came, even opening up older material that was understood, granting more fuller understanding and connection between that which was revealed, and that which had already been revealed.

Isaiah 58:7 is very powerful.

So much of what He has shown you, I have yet to understand, like the sea of glass. I am excited because He has shown me so much but so much still to understand. Your response has me so encouraged, thank you.

Wow, I went to examine...

So I congratulated the dead who are already dead more than the living who are still living.
Ecclesiastes 4:2

I would welcome your insight, if you don't mind.

Not at all. And I don't pretend to know all the verse is saying. But, most when they read it, read it as saying, 'I praise the dead more than the living.'

But he didn't say that. He said, 'I praised the dead that are already dead more than the living which are yet alive'.

Recognize that Solomon was in a bad way when writing the book of (Ecclesiastes). He had become the very thing that he warned of in the book of proverbs. Life under the sun was meaningless now to him. And he describes that life under the sun in (4;1). He was not a picture of one walking in victory. He was a picture of one who was living a life that was displeasing to God.

Then he made the statement we are considering in (4:2). Here I believe we are shown that the 'dead' and the 'living' doesn't speak to just ones that are alive on earth and then die. It goes farther back. The dead, are those who are dead to God. The living are those who are alive to God. In other words, the dead are also walking around on the earth not having died physically yet. The living are also walking on the earth, though they haven't come to the place of eternal life.

Which means...Solomon was so disgusted with his life under the sun, that he praised the dead, which had physically died already, more than those who are the living, but haven't received that eternal life yet, even though they would. Solomons life under the sun at this stage was so empty that he praised the dead who were already dead. He didnt praise the dead who were physically alive, because that was misery. He praised them more than the living which were not yet saved by God. They were the living, but in a lost state.

So, the dead, those without God, but having died a physical death already, are to be praised more than the living who have not, but will, receive eternal life.

I see a great division known to God. The living and the dead. And this division exists prior to our physical birth. "More than the living which are yet alive." They are the living even before they receive eternal life.

I need to read this over and over, u and the verse to truly grasp it, but I think I have it. The only thing worse than death is being dead while alive? Yes?

Thank you for taking the time. Very interesting

I'm thinking the truth lies somewhere in between right? The fruits you speak of need to line up with the scripture as well as the words expressed. I mean, can we exclude one or the other from the testing? Does that make sense? I do agree actions, words, emotions, thoughts, they all need to line up with the word, thus will, of God. I think that getting all nice and tidy in a theological doctrine can prevent learning more. I think we need to keep seeking the truth and that the truth should be bringing us closer to a better nature, in Him.
i agree that teachings need to line up with scripture, just think that this has been taken to far in todays world and we have forgetten to look closely at the actions of those doing the teaching. the prosperity money preachers may be full of it but they make every one of their teachings sound biblical, have you seen the size of these churches.

Reading through, these are some of the thoughts that I had. Not saying they are Prophecy, just that one Scripture reminded me of the other.........

Zephaniah 1:14) The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

Luke 13:28) There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Zephaniah 1:18) Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Matthew 6:19) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20) But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Zephaniah 2:3) Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.

Matthew 5:5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Zephaniah 2:11) The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

Luke 20:42) And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43) Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Romans 14:11) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Zephaniah 3:3) Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow. 4) Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

1 Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Matthew 7:15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Acts 20:28)
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Zephaniah 3:8) Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

2 Peter 3:10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Zephaniah 3:9) For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

Revelation 2:17) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Zephaniah 3:13) The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

Isaiah 10:22) For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

Romans 9:27) Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Zephaniah 3:15) The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.

Hebrews 8:12) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

1 Corinthians 15:54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Revelation 21:4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Zephaniah 3:17) The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Psalms 23:6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Enjoyed this..............hope some of you do too!

I am studying as to how can we hear God not seen as the eternal things of God according to his prescriptions. And not men seen the temporal as the things of men?

I am studying the purpose of the first century reformation and how it affects the new order of government on this side of the reformation or cross.

I find it interesting as to why God used the unbelieving Jew for the temporal time period before the reformation as Kings in a historically true parable using the Jews a as a shadow of the good thing to come. The veil is rent.

Why did God as King of kings, give the apostate Jew over to do that which they should not of, again for that temporal time period?

This should be really interesting. Not that the others won't be, but this one caught my eye/interest. Good luck with it. Mayhaps I will do some digging into it.

There is a website that gives some good information and really reveals why the "House Church" has an advantage over the large congregations. Now, I would offer that today's small congregations (less than 100 members) that meet in a church building would also fit the descriptions found.

https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=Awr...hurches//RK=2/RS=MbX2qoTBHUeBlKePuPs.y.uwVlg-

(excerpt from Article)

Since everything in the New Testament was written to churches that met in the private homes of its members, the relationship dynamics it describes work best in smaller settings. Smaller settings foster the intimacy, unity, love and accountability that characterized the early church. The relationships described in the New Testament work best in situations where everyone knows each other. A loving, family-like atmosphere is more easily developed. The many “one another” exhortations of Scripture can be more realistically lived out. Church discipline takes on genuine significance. Disciple making is personal and natural. Participatory worship fits smaller settings better and the things shared are much more meaningful. Celebrating the Lord’s Supper as an actual family meal is more natural in a smaller setting. Achieving congregational consensus is easier when everyone knows everyone else and open lines of communication genuinely exist with one another. Involvement with a smaller church can be a wonderful blessing with strategic, divinely designed advantages.

Hope you post your findings/conclusions......

Thanks.

Just the introduction into that temporal manner that is used as a historically true parable. I find interesting as to why? Because those who were not called to assemble but assembled their own self wanted a king as a outward representative of God our king in heaven. This showed they had no faith.

They were jealous of the surrounding pagan nations that did not walk by faith. God gave them over to do that which they should not of ….sending a strong delusion to believe the lie..

He even gave them first choice and they chose Saul who in the end resorted to necromancy when God refused to commune with Him.

He then sent Samael the judge to hand pick David. David the youngest usually got the job no one else wanted to do . (stinky business I am told) who was sent into the field with the sheep by his brothers who as it would seem would of been embarrassed of David who was always spouting of psalms praising the Lord. Possibly they were afraid David was over zealous .But God looked at the heart.

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.1 Samuael 16:10-12

:)
Sometimes, God will give us what we want just to prove a point methinks. He knew Saul would turn out the way he did, and that, eventually, He would anoint David to be King, but the folks just had to have their way, and He kinda said............"Seriously? Well, ok."

One of the reasons we should all be careful when we pray, and to do as Jesus did in the Garden, and say "nevertheless, not my will, but thy will be done."
