A lonesome half moon dangles
In an early morning misty sky.
No stars to see, a silhouette of
A tree against the flickering of a
Streetlamp, alone and desolate
On a one street town that once
Was my home. Echoes of
Nothingness were sifting through
The memories of my ears as the
Yard where we once played so
Many years ago. Life was simple
Then, so hot, the moon melted
The ice cream dripping down a
Cone. Summer mornings full of
Children swimming in the ponds;
Skating in the Winters when the
Water froze as it always did in
The same pools; double duty.
Now it is time to rest, no regrets,
We were never the worst nor
Were we ever the best but we were.

I grew up in that same place but probably with a different name. I feel what you wrote.

Your poem took me down my memory lane, friend. Very well expressed. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you!
