@Studyman is Jesus good?

please justify your answer :)
Jesus was the perfect and Good Man who always gave His Father the Glory. He came to give mankind His Fathers Word, and this is what He did.

Glory be to the man Jesus who died and was raised by His Faithful Father, and now sits at the right hand of God..

I'm not omitting anything, I asked for the answer "in your view".

"For me it was after His Death, for Zechariahs and Peter and Paul, it was before His Death. For some of the Jews, it was in the midst of His Death, but there are still many who the "SEED" has not yet come, and may never come."

if I'm understanding you right, it's different times for different people.

again, thank you for your answer.
Luke 5:
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

For Some folks the Seed had already come.

This is not my view, but what the Author of my Faith teaches.

I derive my understanding of the Christ by listening to "ALL" of His Word's. I have never said Jesus wasn't good, I have just pointed out that He acknowledges over and over and over that He is a Man, not God.
* destroy this temple and I will raise it in 3 days.

* no one takes it ( My life ) from me , I have the power to lay it down, I have the power to take it up again.

* I and the Father are one.

* if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.

you certainly do not listen to and believe " all " Christ's words, if you did, you would acknowledge that He was fully human and fully God on while He was here.

you should be on your knees, thanking Him for your sacrifice for you, and accept His free gift of salvation by believing in Him, as He said to, but no, you say " thanks for showing me the way to keep the Torah, i'll take it from here."

disgusting disrespect for the LORD and Savior.

((re: Matthew 19:17))

it is an interpretation among the saints that Jesus is pointing out a contradiction in what this man said; that he was addressing Christ as though He were only a man, but calling Him good, whereas no one but God is good.

the interpretation continues, that by instructing him to sell everything he had, give to the poor, and then follow Him, he is telling the man to respect and consider Him as God, not as a mere man, albeit a perhaps particularly holy and blameless man.

this man, remember, obediently kept all the law, yet he knew that he still lacked something in order to receive eternal life. he knew that he had not merited it even though he said, 'all these I have kept' -- and remember, Jesus looked on him and loved him. also remember, what this man asked, was 'what good thing must i do' - i.e. 'what work?' will merit eternal life as a reward.
it is important to fully understand the situation we are reading. :)

This is your religious view, On the other hand, The request Jesus gave Him exposed what Jesus already knew, and that is this man didn't "keep" the first and greatest Commandment of them all. Therefore he didn't keep any of them. He had been deceived into believe he did, as did many Jews, but the Christ in His wisdom, knew the perfect test. "Put the Word of God before your prized possessions ".

Your preaching that this man "obediently kept all the law" is in error. He said He did, but Jesus clearly proved that He didn't. Not sure why you would omit this obvious Biblical Fact in your religion.

On the other hand:

Luke 1:
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

The difference between these two is the one made a statement about himself that was obviously not true, as Jesus exposed, while the other was glorified by God.

Of the two, which one knew who Jesus really was?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

This man who claimed to be obedient, who was he following before this? How is He didn't know who Jesus was, but Zechariahs did?

I understand you and your pals religion G9.

I think the Bible is clear that He had a great victory over sin and satan. If He were God, there would be no victory, no Glory. This would be like you expecting a great award for beating up on a cockroach. But if the Bible is true, and He was a man, in all things as other men, then His victory over satan is a Great Victory, and His overcoming sin is a Great Accomplishment.

30 I and my Father are one.

Yes, The Word of God was made Flesh.

36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Yes, the man Jesus was truly the Son of God.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Yes, The Word of God offered His Life voluntarily,

Rev. 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

John 7:
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

If you and your pals want to diminish or erase His Victory just to save face or promote some religious franchise, you are free to do so. Jesus said men hated Him First.

But for me, I know Jesus came in the Flesh. You have rejected almost the entire Bible in your quest to rob Jesus of His great Victory, and all because some "Voice" convinced you and your religious Pals that it is impossible to live in obedience to God.

my " religion " is based on Jesus's own words, Paul's words, on and on.

but, I do not reject some of His words to defend my religion.

so, you post carefully selected verses, write in your own commentary, which you have no doubt tried and perfected over the years, and call it the " truth ";

yet, time and time again , you have been shown other Scriptures that have just as much weight as your pet verses.

you completely reject these, and attack the person who pointed them out to you.

you are free to do what you wish, God gave us all free will.

I just don't think ripping chunks of Scripture to defend a man-made belief system is a wise thing to do.

you can ( and do ), I will not

((in re: is Jesus good?))

I most certainly think Jesus was good

. . .

He was a man, not God.
but Jesus says: "no one is good, but God alone"

if you call Him good, yet also say He is not God, you are calling Him a liar.

sure.

if that is the case, probably you should not set aside what He actually says ((
why do you call Me good?))
and put your own words in His mouth instead ((don't call me good))

:)

according to Christ, there is no such thing as a "good man"

contrary to your slanderous false accusations, believing He is who He actually is does not mean disbelieving He came in the flesh. in fact, it is believing "He" that came in the flesh is in fact "He" :)

so what you're saying is that this man, who was looking for some righteous work he should do to inherit eternal life, was a liar and did not know the truth. right?
so what Christ says to him is not what He says to believers; it's what He says to unbelievers. what Christ says to this man is what He says to liars and deceived people who reject the truth. He's not talking to the saved here.

i agree; salvation is not by works - and everything this man said was wrong.

which is why God told him, "you know the commandments" -- without belief in Jesus, the real Jesus, not the nonexistent "good teacher," the only hope mankind has to be justified is Leviticus 18:5, Nehemiah 9:29, Romans 10:5, Galatians 3:10-12.
but no one is good, save God alone. kind of brings to light the fact that there is only one Gate into the sheepfold, don't it?

:)

Glory be to the man Jesus
I am the LORD, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another
(Isaiah 42:8)
I do not accept glory from men
(John 5:41)

surely this also is a great mystery

now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself,
with the glory which I had with You before the world was
(John 17:5)

who understands it? :D

Why don't you set your snares for someone else? Why are you so eager to corrupt me with your man made "Jesus didn't have a Victory over sin and satan as a man, but as God" religion?

="posthuman, post: 3805224, member: 170505"]so what you're saying is that this man, who was looking for some righteous work he should do to inherit eternal life, was a liar and did not know the truth. right?

Romans 3:
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Rom. 1:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

2 Thess. 2:
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Matt. 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Obviously this man was deceived, like to Jews who taught for doctrines the Commandments of men while calling them the "Law of Moses".

But as I have come to know. We worship two different Christ's and believe in two different Gospels.

was Jesus "not good" at some point and later became good?

no one is good but God alone
- Jesus

was He "not good" when He calls Himself "The Good Shepherd" ?

this is the same question as,
was God "not God" at some point and later became God?
because,

no one is good but God alone
- Jesus

that's why i confront you with the truth when you lie about me, and am always trying to steer your conversation to the person and work of Jesus Christ, and the truth about Him, showing you scripture when it contradicts your religious interpretation of it :)

i don't have a "religion" dude. i have a singular command from my King: love

Obviously this man was deceived, like to Jews who taught for doctrines the Commandments of men while calling them the "Law of Moses".
"You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’
“All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “You still lack one thing."
(Luke 18:20-22)
do you see 'taught as doctrine, the commandments of men' in this verse? i see part of Exodus 20, here.

since next Jesus gives the man a commandment which is not a commandment of the law, and since you say Jesus was a man, do you suggest Jesus is teaching as doctrine the commandments of men?

the Christ in His wisdom, knew the perfect test. "Put the Word of God before your prized possessions "
word of God, yes ;)

but is "sell everything you have and give it to the poor" found in the law?

Is any merry? let him sing psalms!
(James 5:13)
