Should Christian men and women dress differently or does it matter under the new covanent?

Woman and men pants, jeans, shirts.
Women dresses, blouses, skirts, nylons, etc.
But most important is not the latest fashion but the inward adorning of the heart...man or woman. And so thankful God has provided a cleansing for our spiritual robes...washed in the blood of the Lamb.

The list is based on principles in Scripture. 1st Corinthians 6.9; 11 and others.
Cultural factors are also to be considered.

How does one know about cultural factors as trends change over time? Is it when a certain percentage of men or women in a nation begin wearing something different? Say women wearing pants or men wearing dresses... When it does it become a cultural “okay”? Thanks 🙂

That's a problem. Yes it is.
Some groups are pushing away from gender identity.
There will always be those such as myself who believe the differences between the sexes are positive. God created male and female.

So I’m hearing that there SHOULD be a difference, that men and women should dress differently, but who defines what’s masculine clothes and what’s feminine? For example, it’s my understanding that in the west nearly any women wore pants for hundreds of years until comparatively recently, and it was even a hot topic back then because the cultural norm was that the men wore the pants... I understand back in Bible times there were no pants, so I’m just wondering if God cares about these things (men wearing dresses, etc.) for new testament believers?

I dont think it matters what style of clothes you wear just dont swap clothes with someone of the opposite sex. Pertaineth means 'belong'. So Im not going to wear my brothers clothes or my dads clothes ew they would smell. But I could wear my sisters if she let me borrow.

That’s a bit funny and I appreciate that but are you saying the clothes themselves don’t matter, only who owns them? So you mean to say that the actual article of clothing doesn’t matter but rather who owns it? I always thought pertain was like ‘made for’ or ‘suits’ or something like that... Now I’m not sure if you were joking...... 🤔

The only real instructions I see in Scripture, are to dress modestly and not ostentatiously. This transcends the OT admonitions, IMO

"Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." 1 Tim. 2:8-10

I don't wear men's clothes, because they don't fit me. They go in where they should go out. They go out where they should go in. The exception is boots. My feet are extremely deformed, and about an M width. I can't get women's shoes to fit, except Birkenstocks, which I can't wear now because of an RA nodule on my left bunion. But, I do have a pair of men's Ugg boots, a nice shade of blue, that are a bit long, but fit the width. Since Ugg men's boots look the same as women's Ugg's, I suppose I can get away with that.

The only other thing I can do is to get handmade shoes at $2500 a pair. And even the shoe maker told me they are as ugly as can be, and they were!

In roman times and bible times all they had were sheets they just looked the same really but you woulndt wear what doesnt belong to your gender not only cos it wouldnt fit, but possibly also for hygienic reasons.
In heaven apparently we all going to be wearing white robes. Meaning we all going to be clean.

I dont really need to tell you that women have times of the month so why would a man want to wear what belongs to a woman.

If you belong to sda can you just say. There ought not to be any confusion over the old and new covenants. If you believe in Jesus you have entered the new covenant. We are going to be clothed in Christ.

I wouldn't be seen dead in a Kilt (apologies to any Scotsmen)
In Jesus day trousers hadn't been invented, and there were still a difference between robes Men wore and what Women wore
otherwise the Law about wearing clothes of the opposite sex wouldn't have made sense.

So it doesn’t matter then in new covenant, men can wear skirts and panty hose and woman can wear pants and shirts and ties (or whatever men’s clothes are) I guess, these articles of clothing being unisex now anyway. Must have been an old covenant thing, I wondered about it, why so many women wear pants compared to 100 years ago, maybe it doesn’t matter, I thought maybe because God called cross-dressing an abomination (is what I thought pertaineth to meant) that it might still count today. Maybe I shouldn’t think about it anymore, it boggles my mind... Thanks all 🙂

How is it “men and woman” is one category of dress here and “women” is another, but you didn’t list a “men” category. I appreciate your thoughts 🙂
