Not sure if there was any recent thread here on volunteering, but i've been thinking what passages in Scripture point to volunteering.

Can you share on your personal experiences, your bases for doing this? Results, rewards, issues and problems you faced? Thanks.

I just started volunteering last Oct at the WinterFest activity, one of my Churches offered on Oct 31 nite. I have some free time and the Church was in need of extras for the nite so it made me feel like I was putting good use to my time. I wound up in the children's theatre as a usher, to open the doors after ea show and help in passing out candy. I also met some new friends and now I'm signed up for the mailroom but have to put that on hold bc we just got a 4 mo old Dachshund I have to train. From my experience volunteering at the Church could b under title of ministering to others and I can't wait to start back asap.

Thanks, Tabin, for sharing. I would search on the topic, but havent had the chance yet.

From what i have seen, most parents that volunteer in school here when people do not know each other well yet, do so in the spirit of volunteering. I see there's lots we learn from volunteering, which we can also use later for our jobs, our church, or our own families' needs.

When i volunteered for some transcription of some preaching, little did i know it would let me delve deeper into the teachings... and as i checked the Scriptures quoted, i also got to read the passages again and again, and again... check where colons and semi-colons come in, where there's a comma and so on=). But it doesnt end there, as the words of the Lord came more alive to me personally. Even accounts from Joshua, Luke, etc. do not seem so distant now, after reading and rereading things. It hasnt been many months, but i think it will be helping me locate some passages better, and remember/memorize some of them more too.
