You say you did not ask for it? So then you never heard of the idea of tongues? But a wind stepped into you asking if you desired to be filled with the Spirit? Were you as a Christian not filled before then? How much of Christ does it take to be full?

What were the prophetic words you heard, what did they instruct you to do? Or was it the sound of the wind with no meaning other that the wind moves and create sounds?

And what did the words you never heard that came to you say?
Garee, you twist everyone's posts worse than a pretzel.

Though I'm familiar with Islam and have read parts of the Qu'ran, alas, I am not Muslim.

As an odd aside, what's a little weird, speaking of being Muslim, is that I have what's called a "royal gateway" in one of my genealogical lines (my maternal side; predominantly French-Canadian). I'm an avid genealogist and have done quite a bit of research on this particular line. I am apparently a descendant of Jean II, "Le Bon" of France. If that's true, one of his ancestors was King Alfonso (I forget his 'number', there were a lot of Alfonso's) of Castile. One of his wives, I believe supposedly the only one whom he had issue who survived into adulthood, was supposedly a direct descendant of "The Prophet". Her name was Zaida, but she became Christian and took a Christian name (Isabel). It's a line that's much debated, but if it's true, then that would make me a descendent of Muhammed as well. As I said, though, the line is one of the more debated ones in the world of royal genealogy. A Muslim Caliphate ruled Spain for quite a long time and there were intermarriages between the ruling houses - we know them as the 'Moors'.
Interesting. I only say this about Islam because I came on a website where several Muslims were talking about it. And I was on another bible forum other than this one....several Muslims were there too and taking part of the discussions. Not knowing their plan before that, I gave a lot of info that now I wish I hadn't.

Whether you can find evidence that it was or wasn't taught, Pentecost is an experience from God of being whelmed in, of and full of His power through giftings and offices. So is being born again an experience. If you ask, He will come. :)

Wolf...it's written in the Word and you know it's true. Either fear of God or fear of men is binding you.

Otherwise you would not be so adamant in trying to find a loophole somewhere. We cannot do the same works that Jesus performed without His power. That's why He sent Holy Spirit to His body. If you say you live in Him....then walk as He walked. That's scripture.
Than Show me your Miracles and healings you are doing everyday.
Speaking in tongues has nothing to do with Jesus walk.
Show me in Germany the pentecostals and charismatics which perform healings and Miracles everyday.
What you are teaching is not meant. The only sign he gave which we should perform is LOVE.
So long nobody can Proof to me that receiving the Holy Spirit is combined with speaking in tongues. This teaching is for me false teaching and not True!

You even err in understanding who it really is who performs miracles wolf.

Without Him we can do nothing. It is always Holy Spirit who moves through us.

And it's not a circus act.

The teaching that's false is that tongues is not for today, but was only for the apostles.

17 "These are the signs that will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; even if they drink any deadly poison it will not hurt them; and they will place their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
19 So the Lord Jesus, after talking with his disciples, was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
20 Then his disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the signs that accompanied it.

To hear the gospel and receive it as truth is a fact of salvation. Conversion is an experience wolf. Something actually happened to you.

I would never want anyone to doubt their salvation.

Jesus breathed on the disciples after He had risen. He said to them to receive Holy Spirit. This is the Spirit of Christ that Paul said without this we are none of Him.

The baptism of Holy Spirit is the release of Him from within us and He flows up and out of us.

And the devil does hate this. Whose report will you believe?

If you claime we have to walk like Jesus did, today. Then we have to do miracles and healings. This Jesus did for to proof that he is the messajah.
And then I expect this in the life of all who claime this. If not, then something is wrong. Ore it is even not for today.
To give the blame to the Holy Spirit why you dont heal and perform miracles is easy.

To all disciples exclude Thomas.
So who is doing conversion?. If it is not the Lord himself who buildet a new creation in us.
This is an fact, we cant influence.
And far more then an expierience.
Our life is an expierience, day for day.
To follow Jesus means to trust him and to be obiedient to Him. Walking in faith and not in wonders and miracles.

Stones said we have to walk like Jesus did.

I never said, that God is not healing today! But for that God answer our prayer, has nothing to do with we should walk like our Lord over this World and heal and perform Miracles like he did.

If that would be the Case, every christian would perform healings and Miracles as a Routine every day. And you must not go to someone who heals you.

And finally to perform healings and Miracles is today not a Proof to be in Gods will. Many will do this and still be an enemy of Jesus.
Many will do this and the Lord says: i dont know you.

The best sign to Show that you belong to the Lord is LOVE!
No speaking in tongues, no healing, no Miracles, has this value!

I am wondering that many claims, that receiving the Holy Spirit with the sign for that is speaking in tongues is taught in Church Historie, but could not Show an Single Text where it is taught.
Scripture said we should test the Spirits. And this I am doing!
Why I should trust a lie?

Well many Christians dont have the charisma to go out and pray and see God heal ppl. I believe it is possible tho.
It should be a part of our life.

I think theres many signs if someone received the Holy spirit. tongues is just one of many. Tongues just always get magnified

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

I didn't say that wolf. John did.

Give blame to the Holy Spirit??

There are offices Wolf. But then, do you even believe this word? Are there prophets and apostles today?

Look at this scripture...

Acts 3:4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

Most all will pass this by and not think twice about what occurred here. But, I can tell you what was happening. To explain the writer could of said, " and Peter being filled with the Holy Ghost said...

Afterwards Peter attributes the work of healing the lame man to Jesus and the power of His name. It's always through grace which is the divine influence upon the heart, with its reflection in ones life including gratitude. Or simply Holy Spirit working through faith of the believer. Pentecost comes every day in someone's life even yet.

Today in respect to Christianity what porpose would there be for searching genealogical line past that of Mathew 1?
Not really sure I understand the question, but Matthew 1 is one of two lines showing the genealogy of Jesus. Some lines of ruling 'houses' can be attested quite a ways back into great antiquity - other than just plain interest, perhaps no real purpose.

As a sort of aside to that, in the Middle Ages it was a popular thing for any given king to be able to trace his line back to Adam and Eve (in order to affirm his divine right to rule, etc.). Many kings' biographers sort of "tapped into" these Biblical genealogy lines by way of some hitherto unknown child of some ruler who just happened to be somehow attested somewhere, and also just happened to have descendants one of whom magically also was an ancestor of said king. It's interesting (and almost comical at times) to see how these "royal lines" were contrived to tap into Biblical genealogy.

I hear you on that, but sometimes, Muslims are just as curious as we are to learn about other beliefs/faiths. Not all have some secret anti-Christian agenda.

Why then you use such Source if you dont agree with them?

On the other hand, the thing is, that you dont have Source that receiving the Holy Spirit and as sign for it is the speaking in tongues is taught before Topeka und Azusa street movement, which is claimed as beginning of the pentecostal movement.
Till today nobody on CC could Show me specific Texts from the churchhistorie that this was taught.
Why it is so difficult to find such Texts? Maby because this simply not was taught?
Even the reformators which translatet the Bible ore wrote Commentarys did not taught this. Nor they taught this in their churches.
The test is in JOhn Chapter 1 and chapter 14 to 16. In Acts 1 & 2 . and many other's. You can it was not taught IF you rip out pages in the book of Acts.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes that would seem what the flesh desires as if God was a man as us and there was infallible fleshly mediator as a umpire set between God not seen and man seen.. Strike three you're out (LOL)

I would think if a person was hoping in following the genealogy of spiritual seed of Christ as the generation of Christ the new born again generation. That it would of ended with the Mathew account. Not that genealogy cannot be fun to try and look at roots but with Christ it would of served it purpose. And Jew today keeping it would seem of no use other then fun facts. (the veil is rent) the time of reformation had come. I am depending how far a person goes back of the "Heinz 57" variety (LOL)

The pagan tribes would have no use to able to trace his line back to Adam and Eve in order to affirm some sort of divine right to rule,

God used Judges to work between our King of kings . The time period of judges as no outward representative of God not seen is when men did walk by faith. It came to end when the unbelieving Jew demand they be given a King because of their jealousy for the surrounding pagan nations . God gave them over to do that which they should not of to be used as a " historical parable" for the time then present. Samael thought they were rejecting him as King but God revealed it was God not seen they rejected and not man seen

This was up until the time of reformation the time of the completion of the genealogy of the incorruptible seed Christ had come. The government was restored again to the time period when there was no outward representative . Today all believers are considered kings in a kingdom of priests as Ambassadors for Christ's Holy priesthood, after Melchezedek .King of kings as the king of Salem /Peace , priest of the most high God without beginning or end of rule.

1. 1 Corinthians is not a demonstration of tongues rather a correction or an encouragement or a teaching of the application of gifts (tongues). Many people (proponents) have misunderstood it anyways so i won't dwell on it.

2. Acts of the Apostles is where we get the real demonstration of tongues and if i'm not wrong, every time there was an outpouring of God's spirit and people spoke in tongues, it was always in the presence of gentiles ( or speakers of other languages other than Hebrew).

This in itself is clear sign that 'tongues' as demonstrated in Acts always meant a language - either of the gentiles present or them (Gentiles) speaking Hebrews to the Jews present as a demonstration of power.

And, tongues only came after Pentecost yet the Apostles were able to do other miracles by the same spirit before the Pentecost. So Pentecost only implies that the apostles had now received power to preach to the gentiles after finishing the work in Jerusalem.

Yes, that's true, but non-Christian peoples still kept track of their kings' lines. Many of these connect up to their equivalent of a supreme deity. Persian lines, for example, end up at Ahura Mazda, the main deity in Zoroastrianism.

The teaching that's false is that tongues is not for today, but was only for the apostles.

Tongues as the sign against the Jews is still for today.

It would seem from my experience that the teachers do not look to the teachings. The foundation of the tongues doctrine is almost 3000 years old.(Isaiah28) If the doctrine is not defined according to its foundation how could any one know what to look for or what the sign confirms?

Its easy if the person begins in the beginning of the matter as to why God mocked with Stammering lips the Jews as a sign against them confirming their unbelief …..refusing to hear the word of God scripture as prophecy as it offends them even to this day .And yet they still refuse to believe even though the veil is rent
