Please stop lying and accusing......the above is false!

A gospel of truth

Faith is what saves a man eternally.....works do not help finish it off nor can it be lost.............wake up to the truth.......!!!

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

Obeying His commandments is the way of love.

Teaching people they don’t need to obey His commandments is the way of hate.

It’s one or the other.

Which side are you on, brother?

  • Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? James 4:4-5

Many do not understand "paid in full" <----it is finished........they must help their weak, ineffectual Jesus because he is too weak, or cannot keep his word and or promises..........
In John 19:30, we read that after Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” (which means our sin debt has been paid in full). In Romans 3:24, we read the believers are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. You don't need the words -- "finished work of Christ" specifically spelled out in the Bible in order to figure this out. We are to believe/trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. (Romans 1:16)

In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, we read - Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. *His finished work of redemption is summed up in the gospel and is sufficient and complete to save believers. No supplements needed. (y)

John 7:
38 Jesus said; He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified)

Lk 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
(NOTE: Wait in Jerusalem until ""I"" send the promise of my Father. Read Acts 2:33 below)

Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for ""the promise"" of the Father
(NOTE: Jesus tells them to wait in Jerusalem for ""the promise/Holy Spirit"" the Father will give to Christ to send them)

Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear
(NOTE: It isn't until after Christ's has been glorified/resurrected & cleansed the Heavenly Sanctuary. He receives the Father's PROMISE = Holy Spirit. Control to indwell all that truly believe. Only God/Christ knows the true heart of a person. And only Christ can baptize/seal/indwell with the Holy Spirit.)

Short answer Jn 7:39 the Holy Spirit can't be sent until Christ is glorified. Lk 24:49 & Act 1:4 Christ tells his disciples to Go wait in Jerusalem until ""HE"" sends the Promise/Holt Spirit made to Him By The Father. This happens at Pentecost Acts 2:4 & Acts 2:33 gives the whole overview.
Not of that says Jesus "controls" the Holy Spirit.

Hi JPT, :) no one is saying we don't need to obey God's commandments. We do, but NOT for the sole purpose of trying to gain, maintain or keep salvation. Works have zero to do with gaining salvation.

So, the money you sent a charity won't save you. Neither will shoveling the old lady's driveway in winter. And neither will doing an errand for the handicapped guy down the street.

Our
faith and belief, through God's grace, is what saves us. Good works do not save us. Never have, never will.

My view......one who believes salvation can be lost also believes something has to be done to maintain it....that is not faith and or trust into the finished work of Christ......the correct message of salvation is either believed or it is not.....the dividing line is clear.......IMV
Amen!

If one believes they can sin enough to lose salvation, then once lost, they can never be saved again. Because the Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. The Bible also says the sacrifice of Jesus was once for all. He's not coming back to shed blood for the forgiveness of any more sins.

Either all sins were blotted out at the cross - past, present, and future - or none of them were.

Can you point out from my posts where I have said works are how we gain, maintain, or keep salvation?
So, you obey all of the commandments of Jesus?

Yes.

And if I should break one of His commandments, I repent and confess my sin to Him.

Earlier in my walk with Him I was loose with my obedience, but as I have matured in the Lord He expects me to walk in obedience to His Spirit within me.

So, I have answered your question, now I have one for you?

Which one of His commandments do you struggle with keeping?

No other gods
Worshipping graven images
Taking His name in vain
Honoring your father or mother
Murder
Adultery
Stealing
Lying
Coveting

Please show us the scripture that teaches us to "believe in the finished work of Christ."

Or the scripture that has the finished work of Christ in it.

JLB
Hi justpassinthrough, Jesus' work is finished and then some because; if I die and just prior to my physical death a person hears the gospel through me and "gets saved", then I have not lived my life in vain and the same is true for you and/or any true born again believer; "If I die and someone gets saved my "earthly life" is expendable agree?

John 14:19
"Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also."

God's covenant is also finished and fulfilled; that He will never destroy the world through a flood again and He has restored the human race after the fall in the Garden of Eden through the "finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.

Genesis 9:11
"I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."

Nothing here about “believing in the finished work of Christ”.

The claim is, all we need to do is “believe in the finished work of Christ”.

Please post the scripture that teaches this.

The context of James is simple and it is not the context you claim.Nothing in the passage supports your opinion of the context. The example given by James shows clearly that he is not referring to any distinction between your inventions "mere belief" and "saving faith". He uses Abraham as the example and his faith was real as this was acknowledged by God.Yet still he said:

"Was not Abraham our father justified by works,"

Belief :confidence, trust, certainty, credence, acceptance, faith, conviction, principle, creed, idea
antonym: distrust

Yes you are on the right track here in that the book of James is definitely not a contrast between mere faith and real faith.
This causes a lot of problems.

James 2 18-19 are the words of an Objector that James is setting up..... and need to be read together...we know this because he says clearly....Yea a man may say...

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

What James is arguing is that faith which Abraham and Rehab had (as already justified by God people) can be seen by works

The objector is saying that faith cannot be seen by works....that is the whole point of James, is to say yes we can show our faith by our works

James is addressing people who are saved (have been justified by God) and he is not dealing with people who have the same faith as demons which is just plan silly.

I didn't say you have. :) However, some here get confused as to why we are to do works. Some believe it's to be obedient to God's commands, and others believe that we need to do works in order to keep and maintain salvation.

If you're one who believes the former, then good for you. :) But if you believe that salvation is kept by works, you're mistaken..

JPT, please tell me who claims this idea that you say; "all we need to do?" Who is saying this please.
Your quote: "The claim is, all we need to do is believe in the finished work of Christ”.

Yep okay, this seems to be the same argument that GodsGrace101 uses to say that those who believe that we are saved by grace through faith and that "not from yourself", it is the "gift" of God; believe that there is nothing left to do but sit on our duffs and do nothing until Christ's return.

Answer: nobody on this thread believes in such a ridiculous idea. If you know someone who believes that after we are saved "all" we are to do absolutely nothing please tell me his/her name so we can have a talk; "we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."

"Saved unto good works; not saved or kept saved, by our good works."

Ephesians 2:8-10
8)"
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the "gift" of God, 9) not by works, so that no one can boast. 10) For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."

I've never thought of that. Does it actually ever say anywhere "finished work of Christ"? or trusting in it?

Well if we are given eternal life based on fact we believe or trust christ.

What are we trusting? In all Christ did?

The meaning of BELIEVE from the Jewish Mind, means to PUT YOUR WHOLE TRUST IN HIM. The English Word Believe is WEAK AT BEST. It can mean in English to intellectually admit something is true; which does NOT MATCH the BIBLE WORD FOR BELIEVE. Like it says; even the demons can believe that Much.

James 2:19 (ESV)
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

Matthew 8:28-32 (ASV)
28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way.
29 And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
30 Now there was afar off from them a herd of many swine feeding.
31 And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.
32 And he said unto them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and perished in the waters.

Mark 5:2-13 (ASV)
2 And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain;
4 because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him.
5 And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped {bowed prostrate to him} him;
7 and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not. { So the BIBLE word for BELIEVE, has to be WAY MORE than intellect, it has to be to put your whole Trust in JESUS.}

8 For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, in number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.

I hope you can now see through the eyes of a Genuine JEWISH Believer with Genuine Understanding.

This is Paul when he was called SAUL, who was out to Try to DESTROY TRUST IN JESUS.

Acts 9:21 (NCV)
21 All the people who heard him were amazed. They said, “This is the man who was in Jerusalem trying to destroy those who trust in this name! He came here to arrest the followers of Jesus and take them back to the leading priests.“

Philippians 3:3 (NCV)
3 We are the ones who are truly circumcised. We worship God through his Spirit, and our pride is in Christ Jesus. We do not put trust in ourselves or anything we can do,

Any that say they do.....have already lied........Romans 3 and 4....no one justified by the law or the commandments....they deem guilt and the whole world can shut it's mouth as guilty.....
