Nothing here about “believing in the finished work of Christ”.

The claim is, all we need to do is “believe in the finished work of Christ”.

Please post the scripture that teaches this.

JPT
Acts 16- after the earthquake that freed Paul and Silas , the jailors asked them " sirs, what must I do to be saved"

Paul- " believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household ".

maybe you need to spend more time studying and less time spouting off about command keeping.

So, you obey all of the commandments of Jesus?

Yes.

And if I should break one of His commandments, I repent and confess my sin to Him.
That's a contradiction in terms.

So, have you sold all that you own and given the money to the poor?

Are you as perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect?

Do you forgive seven times seventy?

When you have lunch or dinner, do you go out and invite the poor, the cripple, the lame, and the blind to join you?

Do you love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind at all times?

Do you wash the feet of other believers?

Have you preached the gospel to every creature?

Are you willing to pluck out your eye or cut of your hand if either causes you to stumble?

Do you honor and obey your parents at all times?

Have you gone and made disciples from all nations, baptizing them?

Just curious......

Or never lie, steal, cheat, think evil thoughts, lust after a smokin hot woman, watch any evil, cuss, give 10% to the preacher and then above and beyond that as a offering, etc........

In order for one to say they keep the commandments of God and not be guilty of being a law breaker they must have kept all the laws/commandments 24/7/365 from birth to death......He has done no such thing....he is a law breaker, does not keep the commandments of God and is condemned like every other person on this planet..................GUILTY as charged....!!

lust after a smokin hot woman
As a red-blooded male this has been my achilles heel! Fornication was my middle name before i believed on Christ. Now i am clean "in practicality" meaning I dont ACTUALLY fornicate RIGHT NOW, but in my mind I feel im still not pure. Anyone got any tips for this?

I've never really had trouble with any other sins, never was a big smoker, drinker etc. the usual stuff. BUT THIS particular sin, is DEFINATELY my weakness.

I wish the women would dress more conservative too, they are literally wearing nothing these days and that doesnt make the situation any easier. Not only that, they tend to be FLIRTY. GOD HELP US. Give me a wife Lord. Please.

Further Evidence That BELIEF Involves Putting Our WHOLE TRUST in JESUS the Author and Perfecter of our FAITH.

Hebrews 12:2 (NASB)
2 fixing {Super-Glued} our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down {Earthly High Priests never sat down, IT IS A SIGN THAT OUR HEAVENLY HIGH PRIEST HAS COMPLETED HIS WORK} at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Timothy 4:10 (NJB)
10 I mean that the point of all our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and he is the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of all believers.

Genesis 22:12 (NCV)
12 The angel said, “Don’t kill your son or hurt him in any way. Now I can see that you trust God and that you have not kept your son, your only son, from me.“

Psalm 40:3 (HCSB)
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

Psalm 52:8 (HCSB)
8 But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever.

Psalm 56:11 (ASV)
11 In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; What can man do unto me?

Psalm 62:8 (HCSB)
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge.Selah

Psalm 91:2 (HCSB)
2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

John 14:1 (NJB)
1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me.

2 Corinthians 1:9-10 (HCSB)
9 Indeed, we personally had a death sentence within ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.
10 He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and He will deliver us. We have put our hope in Him that He will deliver us again

Philippians 3:3 (NCV)
3 We are the ones who are truly circumcised. We worship God through his Spirit, and our pride is in Christ Jesus. We do not put trust in ourselves or anything we can do,

1 Peter 1:21 (NRSV)
21 Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God.

Want More Evidence that Believing INVOLVES TRUSTING HIM TOTALLY! Even in the Apocrypha spells it out:

Susanna 1:60 (NJB)
60 Then the whole assembly shouted, blessing God, the Saviour of those who trust in him.

2 Maccabees 8:18 (NRSV)
18 "For they trust to arms and acts of daring," he said, "but we trust in the Almighty God, who is able with a single nod to strike down those who are coming against us, and even, if necessary, the whole world."

Oy vey! We are in trouble. Women are awesome though.

I guarantee it was easier to stay right in this area during Moses' time because the "dress code" was more modest. Even in America which I know you are from; Look up some video footage from new york or somewhere in the 50s, people dress VERY modestly, but then look at video footage from the streets of new york TODAY and its a 180 degree difference!

Spouting your opinion, in the face of the scriptures is foolish.

Worker of iniquity means worker of sin and lawlessness.

  • Disobeying His commandments are lawlessness, which is hatred toward God and His people.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

Jesus and the scriptures promoted faith working by love.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:6

  • Those who hate, no longer have eternal life.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

Those who claim to “know Him”, which is to say, have eternal life, yet do not keep His commandments, are liars and deceivers, who promote a false gospel.

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 2:4-5

I posted the same a while back.

Along with

Romans 10:9-13
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile —the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

And many more.

I will keep it polite as I can (frankly at this moment I'm pissed off and ready to let go)

Basically they totally ignore verse 10 and then peddle push their false dogma.

Lets be honest, you me and many people on here believe in the above verses, including verse 10 in Ephesians.

We will do good works as a result of faith, not to be saved.

Then you get the same old shit back "So you can do what you want" and so on
They are not willing to discuss but just respond with long posts with Bible verses.
They just assume that and totally overlook the fact that we do agree works are part of belivers lives.

There are a few who will ask questions, but the intent is deceitful.
Then we have people who like someones post and then accuses the person the respondent of the post without ever having engaged in dialogue with them.
Shame on you.

Very pitiful indeed. It's called mocking and baiting to further attack and not discuss.
That is not my style and never will be, along with many sisters and brothers on here.

Lack of love towards another from some, and your know who you are.
Nothing wrong with asking but everything can be wrong with the response.

Anyway as you can probably see I'm uptight.
Yes I am a sensitive person, I love people, love taking with people.
I always bounce back and will forgive and am always willing to discuss even when we disagree (not talking about you here)

I expect the same.

You keep going bro.

I will leave it at that.

Exactly why I rarely engage those which devalue Jesus, his work, his promises, his power in favor of religious dogma and some type of law keeping, commandment keeping drivel.......they are deceptive, not honest, and peddle a false gospel that leads straight to the pit.......all while thinking in their minds they measure up to God's standard.........false blind leaders of the blind....!

Actually, when thinking about it...He finished His work for all the world when He poured out His own blood on the mercy seat before Father. And blood has a voice! In His work, His cry is mercy not judgement. No condemnation to His own.

The Cross was the pouring out on earth?

Hi Bro.

Before I start I just want to say that I enjoy your posts and willingness to listen and discuss.

I actually fornicated as believer.
I did not know any better.
The church I went to did not teach the meat of the word.
But I was also in a bad place as a person.
An awful lot of baggage.

Even when I did fornicate I felt so bad and guilty.

We only have to look at David and Bathsheba.
Or should I say that David overlooked Bathsheba and his mind went off on one.
That's how our men's mind works.

Men are physically stimulated and women emotionally stimulated (on the whole)
Us men need to overcome the physical stimulation, and it starts in our minds and then in the groins.

We need to renew the mind.
Nothing wrong with looking at a Rose but wanting to cut the stalk?

I totally agree with your paragraph.

Jesus we pray for a wife for our bro.

You completely miss what I said.....completely!!

Let me put it two you this way there are only two groups walking around on this planet at any given moment.

Saved/Redeemed and unsaved

The unsaved can become the Saved/Redeemed, however the Saved/Redeemed do not become the unsaved ever!!
This will be my last post to you and only because you make statements that are not correct.

Saved persons can become unsaved. A person is considered in the status of saved because they've accepted certain beliefs that allow them to be saved.
If they come to reject those beliefs, they would lose their born again status, as show in the following verses:

Mathew 5:13 JESUS SAID
13“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. "

Jesus said that if we lose our taste, we are no longer salty and no longer good for anything, except to be THROWN OUT.

Romans 6:16
16Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?

1 Corinthians 15:1-2
1Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

We are saved ONLY IF we HOLD FAST the word which was preached to us.
Otherwise we have believed in vain.

2 Peter 2:20-22
20For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
21For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.
22It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT,” and, “A sow, after washing, returnsto wallowing in the mire.”

It is obvious from the above verses that one could escape the defilements of the world, by the KNOWLEDGE of our LORD AND SAVIOR and then become entangled again in those defilements when they turn away from the holy commandment and again return to wallowing in the mire.

You conflate the two and therefore you do not understand anything that we write to you.

Scripture is actually pretty simple when you know this basic fact.
Conflate? You even speak like your mentor.
God will judge you on what YOU believe and you must believe that HIS word is true.

John 14:23 JESUS SAID
23Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him."

Some here understand this to mean that IF we love Jesus we WILL obey...in the sense that HE will make us obey because of the Holy Spirit...
NO! We retain our free will even after salvation.

We can obey or NOT OBEY.
It's up to us to obey Jesus.

This is not what makes one a Christian, like I said do you know the Gospel?

Deciding to obey and follow Jesus does not make you a Christian, although it might make you a good Catholic[/QUOTE]

I really do not care what you think,,,but I am not Catholic.
And, BTW, catholics can also be born again Christians.

Once again you state that obeying and following Jesus does not make us a Christian, as if it were not necessary. I'll add this post to the other 4.

IF we want to be a disciple of Christ we
MUST OBEY HIM
MUST FOLLOW HIM

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:22

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
Proverbs 10:17

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58

Then he said to them all: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
Luke 9:23

If you need more verses, I'll be happy to accommodate you.
