What is "inherit" the kingdom of God?

Do we "inherit" salvation?

Yes we inherit, as sons of God, the kingdom of God.

Jesus “coined” the phrase for us.

  • Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:31-34

We are to inherit, or have our part in God’s kingdom.

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:29

  • shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life

again

  • that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7

21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Jesus..

Why do you doubt?

Yes the Spirit of God is within us.

This is not what inherit the kingdom of God means.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:34

The fact is those who give heed to doctrines of demons will depart from the faith.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
Galatians 4:1

People who are in the faith, and then depart from the faith are no longer saved.

Just as those who do not abide the doctrine of Christ.

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

Your insults and mocking will not change the truth.

Thank you for the article.

Yes, I believe that Luther stated the book of James was "made of straw" he could not reconcile James and Paul, and therefore had strong disdain for the letters of James.

Luther just missed the Hebrew mindset and expressive verbal elements of James, also that the audience of James' letters were so different than Paul's.

Unfortunately, I think if Luther had come to understand James and had written on it clearly at the time, perhaps the Catholic church would have had to deal with its very faulty doctrine of justification by faith and works.

So this evil faulty doctrine continues to this day as evidenced here on this thread daily.:(
I hear what you're saying, and if I had to reconcile James and Romans I would probably take the same route (I say had to because it looks to me that whether James is scripture or how it is to be read this is as much up to Luther as any one else).

I don't mean this next part to sound needlessly critical. If we make heavy use of mindset and expression we can find a very broad range of meanings in any passage.

I posted the following in another thread and got a red x on it......someone point out what is wrong with this and why ANY that names JESUS would disagree with it..... @FlyingDove explain why you red x'ed the following post please.....

Paul, who was inspired and writes almost half of the N.T. said the following...

a. I am the lest of the Apostles
b. I am the least of the saints
c. I AM the number one chief sinner among men

C was written toward the end of his life, was written under inspiration and is in the present tense....the reason the mercy of the Lord endures forever is because forever we will be sinners that were saved by grace through faith.....

Why callest thou me good <---stated by JESUS himself while there were SAVED, IMMERSED disciples and Apostles on the planet assembling with the Lord, working miracles, healing the sick, casting out demons

The self righteous hypocrites that think they obey the LORD non stop and that think they earn the right by their obedience need to wrap their heads around the truth.....THERE is not a JUST man upon the earth that does good and sins NOT.....and EVEN the Prophet ISAIAH said....ALL OUR RIGHTEOUSNESSES are as FILTHY RAGS and OUR INIQUITIES like the wind have taken us AWAY.....

There is NONE GOOD, NO NOT ONE.......

AND to the believer it is written.....WHERE sin ABOUNDS, GRACE abounds the more!!

Isnt that a motto of the Marines in America? Always prepared or something like that?

Gypsies here got a saying too: "We are always on the move, yet always home, where ever we lay our heads, is home"

Walk trough the valley
Some here may believe we're quarreling or arguing...
I think we're just discussing our difference of opinion.

I find it interesting how we could read the exact same words and come up with such a different idea.
Even those who read the bible in the original Koine Greek have the same outcome....They disagree.
Some believe we walk down an isle and are saved forever.
Some believe it is IMPOSSIBLE to leave God once we've known His love.
Some believe God will not even ALLOW us to leave Him because it's HIM that keeps us saved.

I also find it interesting how some take one of the concepts of Calvinism, the "P", Perseverance of the Saints and cling to it...but do NOT accept anything else of Calvinism.

The O.P. sometimes says that those who are with the plentious will go to the undesired place...
This is incorrect ....

Why?

Because we are not saved by our doctrine,
We are saved by Jesus and our desire to be saved.

If our doctrine saved us,,,it means half of those on this thread would go to hell just because they believed the wrong doctrine. God is a just God and will not condemn us for a mistake....
Congradulation Gods Grace you bear your name well, that's admirable you say things better that me, I was going to say better than I am but that would be a contradiction as its one of God's name much like yours. His name in you will lead you to perfection, you have chosen well God's name. Yes I saw that in our understanding we don't know God, except for teenagers who know everything and have stopped learning. But God be thanked for disciplining those He Loves. Some of us like me, God resisted our pride at 12 years of age so we could keep learning, we are still stuck there until we do the will of the Father. We know for sure that God is Longsuffering and Patient with us, to get past our understanding and Trust Him. One thing I noticed years ago, unless we respond to the Love of the Holy Spirit in agreement, we don't get past: that the meaning of "Faith that works by Love" is God in us doing the work and requiring our agreement as "LOve does not insist on its own way."

Walk trough the valley
Having
I agree that we got to Love that we may learn:
Was impressed to look at the thief more closely since I believe that he represents us. You know "One shall be taken, one shall be left." He followed Jesus in His suffering without being offended and the first to do so, such humble beginning and with free will taken away, the man is to be envied. While the other though that if Jesus is God He should get saved without having to suffer. For some in china and Russia imprisoned for their faith is hard work in a labour camp "Some were tortured not accepting deliverance that they may obtain a better Resurrection." One out of 2 Christians who are tortured for their faith give in to the government to be released. Some offered their job back in a government approved church and not permitted to evangelise. I can hear you already, this has noting to do with salvation and your right, Jesus is the author of salvation we are just Acts of, "Faith that Works by Love," and we are not even for real until we suffer with Him. "He that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin." "If we suffer with Him we shall rule with Him" The other thief had to suffer just the same. We wont call suffering work otherwise he would get saved to lol and that would be mest up. Suffering is necessary then, I have the impression the believer did not sin while he was on the cross. And we know the other one did as "Whatsoever in not of Faith is sin." A while back the Lord told me: Stay on the cross. Its where we are identified with Jesus in His death and where we should be, to cease from sin. A women who asked to see Jesus in a dream, was told by Jesus in the dream: Stay on the Rock. I understand that women and children don't have to suffer, they just need to stay on the Love, with God. Her dream is on you tube: Dream of Jesus (Amazing). I would like a response.
I did say I would like a response, don't mind me for insisting: is the debate on suffering with Christ to cease from sin too close to the work of God: both thieves suffered, one learned of Love in the suffering one man did not. Neither had done any work, only what God does is eternal. We could say, No One does the work, all the work. No One here is referring to God's name, "No One like Him." Unless we share wath we believe without causing a reformation, we just ad divisions. This is the Vidio of the woman who was shown the war in the Holy Place in heaven and told by Jesus: Stay on the Rock.

Well what do you know. ;)

It's true that those who are born of God do not practice sin and the idea of "practice" is to perform habitually and thus describes repetition or continuous action. This describes the practice as habitual, as one's lifestyle or bent of life with no goal or effort to stop. No regret, no repentance, just bring it on!

Yes and in regards to Hebrews 10:26, to "sin willfully" in the Greek carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is CONTINUOUS ACTION - A MATTER OF PRACTICE. Now we don't walk along our daily life and "accidentally" fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows a CONTINUOUS ACTION. The unrighteous practice sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21); not the righteous, who are born of God - (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9).
We're actually a lot closer in agreement than you may believe.
Everything you say above is right as I see it too.
I don't even know what willfully sin means...all sin is willful.
If we sin and do not know it,,,it's not counted as sin.
In the O.T. sacrifices were made for unknown sins...
In the New Covenant these sins are covered by Jesus and our being IN Him.
He is our perpetual sacrifice. He has presented Himself to God as the Priests used to do in the Holy of Holies, except in His case it's one time forever.
Hebrews 5 speaks to this.

As to the continuous action of a particular sin, I'd have to say that if we are battling that sin and are sorry for it, that will certainly be taken into account. We can trust a JUST God and a MERCIFUL God.
Hebrews 4:15

As you know by now,,,I DO have a problem with saying we obey because we love ---which is true,
but the fact is that we have to obey no matter what. Hebrews speaks to this too.
Hebrews 3:18
unbelieving and disobeying is the same in Greek...check it out. I hate lexicons.
So the opposite is also true....believing is obeying.

I also have a problem with OSAS because of a lot of scripture...
Here's one from Hebrews:

3:12-14
12Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
13But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,

How does one explain that away if believing in OSAS??
Paul is speaking to brethren.
He says THEIR heart could fall away from the living God.
He says that through sin one's heart can become hardened (a believer's heart).
He says we have become PARTAKERS OF CHRIST IF we hold fast till the end.

The only explanation is that we can become lost again.
In the same state we were before.

2 Peter 2:20
20For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

And why is it worse?
Because at least before they didn't know the living God.
To whom much is given....

Could you PLEASE post some scripture that says we will be damned for believing we have to obey Jesus?

Are you saying that if we DO NOT obey Him, we'll be saved...
But if we DO obey Him, we'll be lost?

I know this is not what you mean...but it sure sounds like it.

Here's what I hear Jesus saying:

John 11:25-26
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

And what does believe mean?

John 14:12

12“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.

If you're going to answer PLEASE use scripture....
And I mean,,,POST the scripture verses.

Thanks.

Is nobody saved? I've never seen or heard of anyone doing greater works than Jesus. This verse always throws me off. Anyone want to explain to me?

Our faith does lead to our loving our brothers in Christ.

A poster on this thread was asking what obedience of faith means.
If one can understand what that means,,,the discussion of the necessity of obedience would end.

Here is what obedience of faith means:

Romans 16:25-27
25Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,
26but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith;
27to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.

Since Jesus is the One who is able to establish us....justify us THROUGH HIM....
then that will lead us to obedience....the obedience of the faith we have IN HIM.
WHEN we obey God, and declare that HE must be obeyed because He is our sovereign God...
this glorifies God.

Our obedience, due to our faith, glorifies the Father through Jesus, His Son.
