If I want a car can I go to the dealership, place my hand on a car and say, I'm declaring that this car will be mine's RIGHT NOW!

The bible says:

there is power and life in the tongue.

If I tell the mountain to be cast in the sea, it will happen.

When the children of Israel were going through the wilderness, God came near their tents and heard them saying Moses took them in the wilderness to die. God said it will be done just as they have said. And only their children will see the promised land.

How do you guys feel on this matter?

well this is a loaded question if I have ever seen one

I haven't read any responses and maybe I will go back and read but I would like to state the following

we all know about that fallacies of name it and claim it...unless you adhere to that particular bad understanding of the word

but VERY very little is said about the actual things said in scripture concerning our words

it would behoove people to check that out and be persuaded of what is true instead of dwelling on the negative

for the Bible has quite a bit to say about 'words', including that we should have a positive confession of who we are in Christ

Haha only if you already had paid for the car.

The mountain moving thing, well, I'd actually like to see that. I'm sure only God can move a mountain.

Unfortunate it always turn into verbal assaults when something does not please you. I wish you well despite the fact you wish to demean me. The HS can give someone an interpretation of scripture without writing new scripture so sure: canon closed. I need no mental doctor, but I will forgive you for suggesting such. :)

that was definitely an over the top response

whether I agree with you or not, that response was over the top and judging your very character rather than the op

again, we should study what the Bible says about our words; we don't even need personal interpretations for that though

but it seems this topic creates an immediate offer to take sides and bear arms...or shoot scripture from a scripture canon

we see where the devil will twist what the word says through some people and then the truth seems to be left drying in the sun

sometimes the Bible Discussion Forum might be better called The Bad Doctrine Forum

I also think that 'faith' is a term that engenders very different responses in different people

Isn't that the point Lanolin? We believe He will, before He does. Faith.

But, looking at your post, you haven't even gotten the verse right.
Wasn't trying to start a memory verse competition.

Neither did I say I believe in that sort of teaching. I was looking to gain understanding on the matter. Not insult.

No wonder the scripture says if we lack knowledge, we should ask God because he gives freely and without reproach.

I was listening to Robert Tilton a WOF minister on TV and I started criticizing him for his name it and claim it stance. To my surprise, the HS rebuked me. I asked the Spirit if he was preaching truth. The answer: It is none of my business. The Spirit then let me know that the word of God is alive and addresses many on different levels. So the best any of us can claim is: The Spirit has not dealt with me that way. Since then, I leave another's ministry alone lest I trample God's work. ;)

ok, well, I do have a problem with this response Deade

if we are to discern and know if something is from God or not, then how does the Holy Spirit supposedly say it was none of your business?

yeah

I'm not agreeing with this post at all. there is a difference between attacking something and understanding that that something is not from God and proceeding with that knowledge

tell you what. if someone is preaching something that is clearly NOT in the Bible I want to know. God has never said to me that it is none of my business

I am well aware of how we approach God and we do not TELL God what to do. we can question Him all we want...He has a very big chest for us to beat our fists on....and enough compassion to hold them, look us in the eye and remind us that He is well aware

my best understanding of why certain things are not answered, or why seeming evil has the upper hand or why God allows such hard things or times is that we either missed a warning along the way, overrode it or we cannot comprehend or would we understand even if God sat in our living room and explained it to us

that may be over the heads of some, but I suspect some will nod in agreement

but God has never said that I am aware of, in scripture or to anyone that I know, that something that bothered or concerned us is none of our business. oh He might say do not say those things...and there are plenty of reasons in scripture not to 'say some things', but we do not have the authority to say and create reality.

what we believe does affect our reality, but that should be obvious. I probably sound like I am teaching here myself so I guess I'll stop

gotta say....kind of left shaking my head at this one

The car thing sure you can say that but the dealership will want you to pay for that car. You could have it right now on credit, but you would still need to pay off that credit card.

well, now I see we had a tiff over who was addressing who in a certain post

disclaimer: I didn't see where said post used the quote button and it was right under another post so I can see how this was misunderstood

backing out carefully but not changing what I said

The term Word of faith always brings contentions between the members of His body. Can two walk together unless they be agreed?

Not easily but it should be done if both sides remembered who we are a part of.

So, most here know where I stand on this. I turn the phrase around because it reveals the truth of the matter. Faith in the Word. The Word is a person who spoke many things possible if we believe in Who He is, and did He speak truth? Again, truth is a person also. And He gave us the way for all things. Again....😀

So what I will add here in this thread....Heidi Baker proved this. She had nothing to feed her little ones in a part of Africa where she started an orphanage. But, prayer in faith brought miracles.

Speaking His promises is what word of faith teaches. The devil has brought confusion about this by twisting the truth of some whose hearts are pure in this, but there may be others who only think of gain.
What I know from experience is that God is our Father and He gives good gifts. We have not if we ask nothing. Poverty doesn't prove anything.

It's His business to sort it out. Not ours.

well you know where I stand also ;)

I am not really a fan of Heidi Baker, but I would agree God answered her prayer...it was unselfish and not for personal gain

what you say about faith here I could say is 'faith in God' which is the faith I believe scripture refers to...but I believe the line is crossed when it is 'faith in faith' and I think that has been argued an awful lot here. at the same time, I firmly believe in God speaking to us today and leading and guiding us personally

there are promises in scripture we do need to pay attention to because they both confirm the word and give comfort to our hearts

however seeing people hold on to something and 'claiming it' and never seeing the fruition of that claim and instead seeing a breakdown in their lives because their claims came to nothing, is a caution that all should consider, regardless of their stance IMO

I am more dogmatic in my approach then are you, but it isn't something I care to argue about anymore

hugs

came back to add this:

God most definitely does provide and had just done so quite dramatically in my own and my husbands' life. you wonder how God might come through and this is where faith comes in. you keep praying, you keep asking even if it is just the word 'help'

it was regarding a home and the need to purchase one. I can't believe how He answered at just the right time...still shaking my head over it

Although, I suppose that could be poor reading skills on your part. Perhaps you, Deade, should consider seeing a doctor or counselor, or even a proper pastor, to help you understand your major issue, of making everything "all about me!" Those types are attracted to Word Faith, sadly
How rude. Seek some help yourself.

If you could do that, what kind of person would you be if you didn't go into every hospital you could find and "speak" complete healing for all?

Or "speak" hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis out of existence the moment they form?

Or "declare" no more famines?

Or speak wars to end?

Etc., etc., etc.

Kim, did you bring enough money with you to buy the car? Did you get it? If you got it, was it because you paid for it?
I neither have a driver's license or know how to drive a car. Have never attempted to purchase one either.

Well it should bring contentions.

And btw: The word of faith heretic preachers who think they are gods (small g, so humble, ah) arent members of Christ's body.

These people make the westboro baptist church look good!

Or the ones who urge people to plant financial "seeds" into their ministries so that God will grant a huge return.

If that's true, it makes you wonder why they don't take their millions and give it to other ministries so that they also can get a huge increase.

they way my wife and I rely on absolutely everything that we do day-by-day,,, - is we listen/obey to The Holy Spirit's guidance
upon our brand-new hearts/spirits/minds, - and not on our old carnal desires' - this makes our lives so much easier
and totally without 'worldly-stress'...:):) n.b.s here, brothers and sisters., there's simple 'NO OTHER WAY'
to find The Peace/Assurance of God, our Holy Saviour'!!!
I’m still working on that but have to admit, it’s hard.
