Many will say how many times they've prayed to God for a significant other, but one must also ask themselves if they are indeed ready for that person. Myself for example, I may want someone but am I ready? No! I'm still a full time student and between my studies, church life and more, I simply wouldn't have time for that person, nor do I even have a significant financial income or responsibility to much. Money isn't everything, in the Kingdom of God it's nothing, but responsibility is something of a valuable character trait and if you want to find the person you want to spend your life with, do you really want to start off as someone with no responsibility?
That may sound harsh, but God wants us to be ready for that person when they come into our lives, and there are more things than my own example. Spiritually, are we ready for that person? Mentally, are we ready for that person? Physically, are we ready for that person? Socially, are we ready for that person? And so much more.
God is a good, good father and Shepard, so if I approach the Father and ask him for a cow, as a good Shepard would he give me the cow if I wasn't prepared for it? No, he would wait for me to be ready! (Note: Yes, I did just compare your and my significant other to a barnyard animal, I just realised that. If you're reading this future wife, I apologise!) God answers in three different ways, sort of like a traffic light. Green, yes and now. Orange, yes but later and finally Red, no. When it comes to asking God for our significant other, don't jump the conclusion he gave you a red light because you haven't found that person yet. Instead, consider if he's flashing the orange light at you and ask yourself, what do I need to do?
