The entire passage in 1 Corinthians 9 Paul is talking about rewards, and prizes, NOT Salvation. Salvation is a GIFT, NOT A PRIZE TO BE WON. He did not want to be disqualified for rewards, crowns, and other good things at the judgement seat of Christ.

We tend to view everything in terms of saved or unsaved.
Obviously those are the most important distinctions, but we forget that there is going to be a judgement for the living (saved Saints) and the dead (unsaved).
Those things are going to become MASSIVELY important in light of eternity.
You are talking about the Saints; you must be Roman Catholic.

I would like to know what believe in Jesus means because people are saying DIFFERENT THINGS! all quoting the greek!
We don't need to know Greek to know what BELIEVE IN Jesus mean.

Jesus said we must be born from above.
John 3:3

He said to repent because the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mathew 4:17

IF we're born from above (born again) and we thus have repented it means that we have turned from walking toward satan and are now walking toward God.

IF we're walking toward God we now believe in HIM and in all that He has taught us.
God sent His only Son to teach us what He always wanted us to know all through the O.T. but it was necessary to "see" for ourselves how we are to be...and that is like Jesus.

So believing means that we trust everything Jesus tells us (and the N.T. writers who continued Jesus' ministry).

Now it becomes a matter of knowing what Jesus taught.
And here is where I see the problem in threads like this.
WHAT exactly DID Jesus teach?

John 14:21
John 14:23
John 14:24
John 10:27
John 8:51

What does believe mean in English?
It could mean believe someone exists....like the demons believed Jesus existed.
Or it could mean a heart belief...
To lean on
To trust
To have faith in
To follow
To obey (as a consequence of believing)
To be persuaded by that person (that he is right)

Any link on the internet will tell you the above...
there's no conflict of agreement on what the word believe means in the bible.

.

In Hebrews 10:26, To "sin willfully" in the Greek carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is CONTINUOUS ACTION - A MATTER OF PRACTICE. Now we don't walk along our daily life and "accidentally" fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows a CONTINUOUS ACTION. The unrighteous practice sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21); not the righteous, who are born of God (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9).

*Notice how I properly harmonize scripture with scripture before reaching my conclusion on doctrine.;)

.
Is that what you call it, properly harmonising scripture? I would call it something else. The natural mind failing to understand the spiritual, not rightly dividing the word

The word Saint simply means, set apart, or made sanctified.

If you are in Christ, you are a Saint.
Are persons who believe they are saved but could still sin being sanctified?

And I suppose you like to write to @Hevosmies and give him incorrect interpretations of scripture...
but you don't care to discuss Luke 8:13 with me....interesting.

Please don't address me. You live in a constant unending state of sin by being here.
You have lied and deceived, and continue to do so. Somehow you rationalize in your mind that your lies and deception are ok.
I will stop calling you out on your hypocrisy in remaining here after being banned and lying in saying you were leaving, if you refrain from addressing me.

1 Corinthians 9 is not speaking about what you've stated above.

It's speaking about how missionaries are allowed to preach the word and how Jesus taught Paul what to say and what to write.

Some were criticizing Paul and he had no fear of them. They thought he was living a high life...he states that he has the right to living quarters when he travels and that he has a right to compensation...for him and also for the others and also their families. Since the other Apostles,,,Peter, James .... were given these "gifts" as you incorrectly call them...so Paul is also due them. (and Barnabas, his travel companion).

He expects accomodations and a meal when he and B. are out teaching the gospel.

It continues in this way until the end when Paul says that we're to run for the Prize.
The prize is heaven....
You think Paul did everything he did, and died doing it, to get a crown???

Please read scripture correctly,
and if you're going to teach someone else, be careful what you teach since YOU will be held responsible for the loss of any soul.

You've learned well from Dcon.
If someone disagrees with you...they're liars.

Well, I'm not really here for you anyway.
But since I'm here, I will also begin to correct your incorrect postings.

Why can't you answer how you can rationalize and justify to yourself that your lies and deceptions aren't sin?

Its a strange site this one

One person says the new covenant was written to jews who wanted an inferior way
Another says it may take you many years to truly love God
Someone else believes deep understanding is overturning the plainly written word in reputable English translations of the bible with concordances and the greek
And another claiming if you lose your justification/righteousness before God by only having belief/faith for a while you remain in a saved state.

I agree with you that belief doesnt mean just thinking about stuff.

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

^Correlation between believe and obedience!

Every day example: I tell someone to shoe the horse cause we're going on a trip riding on concrete. They believe me = they will do it. They didnt believe me = they didnt do it.

It is the religious mindset, they love to judge, but they have yet to judge themselves, they are on a mission, sadly the mission is not from God.

I can believe something

At the same time, lack faith in something,

True saving believe comes with the means of trusting in a hope which can not be seen, and having an assurance that thing is trustworthy

The demons believe in jesus, they however do not think he is trustworthy, nor do they trust jesus father, its why they departed to begin with

Belief does not always mean faith,
