Would you agree that Abraham obeyed God immediately, long before Isaac, when God told him to leave his home of Ur?
Genesis 12.

Sorry I'm on a phone...no scripture.

Yes.

Abraham was justified by faith when he obeyed God by getting out of his fathers house.

This typifies our salvation and how we also are justified by faith, when we obey the Gospel.

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” Galatians 3:8

  • “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”

This took place in Genesis 12, where the Lord commanded Abraham to get out of his own country, to a land that a God would show him.

Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him,
and Lot went with him.
Genesis 12:1-4a

This event typifies the Gospel command repent, whereby we turn away from our old life and follow the Lord.

This is how justification by faith works, through our obedience to the word of the Lord by which we receive faith.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

Abraham believed God and it was put to his account for righteousness

We can have “credit” in our account but until the account is paid there is debt.

The scripture was completed and his righteous was fulfilled when he actually obeyed God by offering his son Isaac on the altar.

  • And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
James 2:21-26

Works undergirded by an already extant living faith that is ultimately a Gift of God.

You have the cart before the horse. A common misconception.

Furthermore, such faith, being the gift to the foreordained before the founding of the world, predates any works on our part. A critical fact not to be overlooked.

Amen to that.

I've often stated here that works should not be a problem for us.
Why such a big fight over this?
I hear some say that FAITH is a work!
It's becoming ridiculous.

We need to be kind and loving toward everyone...this is what Jesus taught.
And it should give us joy since we're doing what our Savior wants us to do and
He was the best psychologist of all and knows that if we give love out,,,we get love back.
I think Lennon even wrote a song about this....
Some call it Karma...
Whatever we want to call it, it's a natural law of God.

Jesus said:
Mathew 11:30
"For My yoke is easy and my BURDEN IS LIGHT".

i also like this verse:

1 Corinthians 15:58
So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord’s service is ever useless.
"We need to be kind and loving toward everyone...this is what Jesus taught."
Hi Fran, you are holding everyone here to a "high standard of journalism", correct; well I believe as you do that Jesus taught His follower's, "to be kind and loving", also to love God and our neighbor as thyself. But Jesus did not teach His follower's to "love everyone", as you say.

Not everyone is deserving of our "love and kindness", would you not agree, or should we "be kind to all and love everyone", without prejudice. Are there not some cases where we should rather show anger and withhold love and kindness like Jesus also did with the money changes in the Temple courts?

Attempting to be kind I know it's late in your beautiful country paradise Italy right now....
Italy :)

Matthew 21:12
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves

I understand you believe the words of a false prophet
False Prophet? He was a prophet? Only thing I noted was he was a nice guy until you and your ilk pushed him to far with your constant demeaning mannerism.
This says a lot about your character........
Your ill manner has already been noted; thanks anyway.

all we did was call him out for his hypocrisy, he did it to himself,

he demanded people do what he himself refused to do, then he started his lieing, and when called out, refused to even admit he did wrong, Then in the end he lost it, guilt does that to you! All he had to do was stop lieing and start responding to scriture given to him instead of playing games like he kept doing

In reality, his true self came out.

I don't understand very well how banning works.
I've been told many times on this thread that I'm going straight to hell when I die.
And other stuff...
I use to Moderate. It seems they don't mind if posters belittle and defame one another here.

I can take the heat, I don't care.
I care. We are suppose to be of the Body of Christ the Temple of GOD.
HE is LOVE and as HE is so are we in this world because It is HE that is to be working in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure.
but I do wonder if that isn't just as bad?
What he said though did go beyond the pale...
we just shouldn't speak that way.
I agree! But what if GOD did tell him to say that. Or if he thought GOD told him to say that.
Then again maybe he just made it all up.
He sounded Ok otherwise...I'm sad to see him go too.
Yeah he was a nice guy until they pushed to him to far.

I will waste no more time on this.

Have a nice evening eternally grateful.

Not what I’m saying at all.

Not “works”.

The principle of faith is obedience.

This is how faith works, operates, functions to produce the intended divine result.

Not good works.
Not the works of the law.
Not works that earns a wage.

The work or corresponding action of obedience.

When the Lord speaks to us, inspires us, moves upon us, we now have faith.

Faith comes by hearing the word. (Rhema) Romans 10:17

When we obey the word from God by which we receive faith, it activates the faith to produce the intended divine result.

He pushed himself because of what he did

I tried to be nice to him, and i was up unstil he started to lie about others, then refused to do what he demanded others.

All i did was demand he fess up to his sins, and ask him to stop Lieing.

If you think that is perfectly ok to do, then Something serious is wrong.

Wow man, how far will you go?
