Good evening brothers and sisters! My question is about christian women’s clothes.

So, what do you say about the way some women dress up? Does God condemn a woman that wear clevage / tight or short dresses? If yes or no, why? What should a christian woman wear?

What should you recommend or say to a woman that wears tight jeans/ short dresses / clevage?

Women should always dress in a modest fashion, yes, so should mend!

Any who dress to expose his or her physical allure is not in the Spirit………….please do not argue this. Note it says the intent to express is there………..

I'm not one to approach a random woman in public, at church lets say, and 'correct' her on her clothing. And it's pretty rare that i i may feel the need to say something to those i know because they don't usually wear things i' find objectionable.
I do believe there are limits on what a Christian woman should wear, and they are responsible for what they cause to happen, as the bible states about all. But men also have a requirement to fight temptations as well. It's a two way street, and both need to accept their role. I find many times Christian women feel it's their right to wear anything and 100% of the responsibility falls on men if they stumble (hello secular feminism).
So things that are too tight, too low, too high, are absolutely irresponsible to wear. Not only around other Christians, but also the poor witness to non-Christians as well, as it does tend to lend an idea to be interpreted in regards to your sexual character as well.

I would not wear anything that would make someone think of me in a carnal nature, something can b attractive w/o being provocative imo.

I think the more time you spend in intimate communion with Christ the Lord, the less desire you have to attract other people's attention, and the more you find yourself dressing more modestly.

A woman should be clothed in good works and adorned with a humble heart and love for all.

Eve was naked. In heaven God will clothe us.

On this sinful earth we should dress in a manner our Beloved would approve of (trying to keep our brothers from being tempted or have impure thoughts). However we should not condemn others whose sense of modesty is not our own. Islamic men require their women to be covered from head to toe.

I find this to be wrong. Men must learn to control their thoughts and even if a woman was to appear naked before them they first thoughts should not be lust but concern and a deep desire to clothe them.

It's not clothes but the heart that is sinful.

A garment of praise!

In heaven it seems everyone is wearing linen robes, white and clean. But there is one woman who's clothed with the sun. See revelation 12

I dont really comment on what other people are wearing. Maybe if they wearing ripped jeans I might ask them if they need new ones. If someone's dressing really badly maybe ask them if theyd like to go shopping with you and find a new wardrobe. That would be the christian thing to do.

I usually dress more elegant. I always say if u have a vneck where u can look down to the belly button and wear shorts that leave nothing to the imagination...thats not good
U of course shouldnt have ur cleavage out so they can jump out and slap somone anytime.
Just be elegant and sexy but not slutty.

Woman can dress up in beautiful clothing..

Woman should avoid dressing up to look sexy..

It is sin to provoke people of the opposite gender to lust..

In the end what does a woman want.. A man to lust over her or a man to love her? The choice is yours..

A difficult issue

Women often do not regard themselves as beautiful.
I have two beautiful daughters who think themselves plain.
They dress to make themselves feel good, however that is socially acceptable.

As parents we suggest what is too suggestive and what is not.
Once you play the game of desiring attention, things easily go wrong, but if you
are feeling low, the temptation is very strong.

As a guy I used to flirt, which was acknowledging the attention girls took and also
testing the waters. I wonder if this whole developmental process is not as we
should expect, pure biology playing out.

So in the game of signals, ones clothing should reveal interest and also modesty,
both what one is, and how you can gain friendship.

The world is full of people who will give away intimacy in the hope of love, while losing
both. We are a people who our priority is towards the heart and not our physical appearance
while this cannot be ignored. It takes time to get all these balances right, and for each
one it will be different. Being too physical is a problem that young attractive women often
fall into, and get miles too much attention from completely the wrong people in the wrong
way.

Here is some Bible:

1Ti 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

In other words: Dress modest, this goes to the MEN too btw. Dont be wearing no skinny jeans as a dude, I will look at you like a punk if you do!

In my previous life if I saw someone like you in the club, you best believe im going to see what you're about. Remember men are easily tempted.

Agreed accept for the punk remark. What is a punk in your eyes and why the judgmental attitude?

hahaha.

Its not a judgmental attitude, its just a poke at feminine dudes walking around dressed in skinny jeans, spending more time in front of the mirror than women.
Its not a good thing for a man. You do know that, right? The Bible is not a fan of effeminate men.

We come from different worlds I bet. Its hard to explain. Those in the know, know!

Agreed but you can't support one scripture and not the other....like calling someone a punk for how they are dressed. Especially when God is working on a person.

Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I Samuel 16:7 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/1sa.16.7.NKJV

Yeah same. I would never do that. I find it disrespectful, yet proper, but I believe its the OTHER Christian women in the faith who should be correcting the other women on that.

Likewise I feel its the men who should be checking the men.

Im just thinking about it from the golden rule perspective: If I was a beautiful woman dressed provocatively, and I had all the guys at the palm of my hand, and some guy comes in and says im dressing immodest, I would not listen to that for a second and just label him a hater and keep it moving lol.
BUT: If it was a Christian woman I respect, I would definately give it a listen and reconsider!

BUT THATS JUST ME! Every person is different.

BTW: I find it ironic that the isla mic people have us beat in this regard. They (both men and women) are dressing WAY more modest! The orthodox jews also got us beat. OY VEY! its time to tighten up!

Oi, Sarah, bem-vinda ao Christian Chat! :)

An exposed cleavage will mostly attract men who are looking for sex only. Christian women will be better off if they follow Paul's teachings.

It's a different issue for men and women.

Women know they can get a man's attention by dressing provocatively, because men are visual creatures. A man struggles with keeping his mind pure and his eyes from wandering.

Men, on the other hand, don't try to get a woman's attention with clothing so much. A man will flirt to get a woman's attention by using suggestive words, using body language, whistling or making kissing sounds, facial expressions (winks, stares, seductive looks, ogling her body), because he knows women are emotional creatures. A woman struggles with keeping her mind pure and her heart from being deceived.

The solution is keep your eyes on Christ Jesus and you won't be found in bondage to this seductive game.
