so, when Jesus said believe in Him, and you will be saved, you choose not to think this not an accurate statement.
o.k.
Another 7th day"er" or a Pharisee.....one that has no concept of context....again we see James yanked out of context to peddle a false dogma.....turn the light on and here they come

I think I misunderstood what you said to me. You were talking about other people and not me, correct? If yes, so sorry for the misunderstanding, and I completely agree with you.
It is ok.
I am very retorical. Thankyou for the apology, it is good to have agreement.
This environment often leads to this type of miss-understanding.

What is interesting is our faith rests on the works of monks and nuns over centuries.
Their dedication kept the word and its printing caused the reformation.

One could argue, the whole of scientific inquiry would not have taken off if it was not
for people believing in searching for the truth, because Jesus is the truth.

So I am humbled by all expressions of faith and the depths one can find in the most
unexpected places. It seems many do not have an open mind in finding truth and letting
the Holy Spirit guide them. God bless you

nope.

believing in Christ saves.

then a person will do good works, i.e. obedience.

the 2 are separate things.

we are saved by grace through faith for good works.

you are saying that faith and good works produce grace.

that is false.
Amen....as false as....saved UNTO NOT BY.....more religion....Lord, Lord have we not done blah blah blah......

Bad day for them

In Hebrews 10:26, to "sin willfully" in the Greek carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is CONTINUOUS ACTION - A MATTER OF PRACTICE. Now we don't walk along our daily life and accidently fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows a CONTINUOUS ACTION. The unrighteous practice sin - (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21) not the righteous, who are born of God - (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9).
Quote: "THE UNRIGHTEOUS PRACTICE SIN"

Is it RIGHTEOUS to OBEY and SERVE GOD?

Do you not imply that OBEDIENCE TO GOD has no bearing in salvation?...that those who promote OBEDIENCE TO GOD are WORKS SALVATIONISTS, SINLESS PERFECTIONISTS etc...

Do you SERVE God by just BELIEVING and not OBEYING His Laws and Commands? Can you serve without doing any WORK since you say(imply) that they are just FILTHY RAGS?

How do you GLORIFY GOD?

...This is to my FATHER'S GLORY, that you BEAR MUCH FRUIT, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
John 15:8

...I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. John 17:4

...So whether you eat or drink or WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
1 Corinthians 10:31-33

...IF ANYONE SPEAKS, he should do it as one SPEAKING THE VERY WORDS OF GOD. If anyone SERVES, he should do it with the strength GOD PROVIDES, so that in all things GOD MAY BE PRAISED THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

...Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND GLORIFY GOD on the day he visits us. 1 Peter 2:12

...For we are God’s workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance FOR US TO DO. Ephesians 2:10

Is it your purpose to GLORIFY GOD by just BELIEVING that you are saved by FAITH ALONE, VOID of any righteous WORKS such as OBEDIENCE TO GOD?

...“You have said harsh things against me,” says the Lord. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’ “You have said, ‘IT IS FUTILE TO SERVE GOD. What did we gain by CARRYING OUT HIS REQUIREMENTS and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.’” Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I WILL SPARE THEM, just as in compassion a man spares HIS SON WHO SERVES HIM. And you will again see the distinction between the RIGHTEOUS and the WICKED, between THOSE WHO SERVE GOD and those who do not. Malachi 3:13-18

...Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: FEAR GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, for this is the WHOLE DUTY OF MAN. For God will bring EVERY DEED INTO JUDGMENT, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Context pal...James is not teaching rhe drivel you are selling
Another gem of a response.
Imagine in an exam, discuss what James means by works? Response,..James is not teaching rhe drivel you are selling
It is like making a rude noise, or just shouting, it adds nothing but distraction :)
So God calls us to distract, be rude and not put forward His responses? Really, this is Jesus's example?

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
1 Peter 3:15

But then, with the greatest respect, gentleness and respect do not seem to be part of ones language.
God bless your enthusiam and vigour, it is a much appreciated demonstration what this kind of approach
leads one to do......

I do wonder why it creates a heroic following. Maybe this is the problem with Hollywood movies and
hitting the bad guy too much while ignoring the innocents and death along the way. :)

Faith alone without right action is dead.
Dead means non existant

The bible says we are saved by faith.

One must HAVE FAITH before they can be saved, Mere belief (dead faith) never saved anyone

Again, TRUE FAITH WORKS.

I trust what Jesus says. Jesus says 'if' and 'unless'.

The only way to feed on Jesus is to do what he says.

Being forgiven has to do with our salvation

...if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; Matthew 6:14

Matthew 18:35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."

When one obeys Jesus, he saves them and makes them perfect; then we are to live up to that.
So you water down the law and think your ok?

Jesus said not to search for food which dies but food which endures to eternal life

Your eating food which dies.. And because if it. You will not find life, only temporary life.

The cross is where Jesus' blood was shed; he is the Sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
We have to believe that his shed blood washes away the sins we repent of doing.
So then why do you thin you must work?

Is there blood in your work?

Well I do agree we should not be hateful towards anyone, and I will admit I struggle big time in certain situations, co-workers mostly, having said that, I always remind myself what Jesus said

"Father forgive them for they know not what they do"

Blows my mind He could have that much love to say those words.

Jesus saves!! Amen..... but He only saves according to His terms and this is where doctrine is important.

This thread gets messy at times, but I think people here do care and they really want you to see that you striving for salvation is over there is nothing more we can do on the plus or minus side of things to affect our justified status.

You understand and see the pitfalls of Calvinism so well, and stand so firmly for the very true Love of God, yet I cannot understand why you want to infuse works into the salvation plan?
I agree with @YourTruthGod that replied to this.
If you could show me where I'm wrong, I'd be willing to listen...

But I don't believe it's wrong to say that we have to obey God....
And do good deeds for Him....

If that's incorrect doctrine, then we're not reading the same bible.

Good Night.

You mere denial is not a defense of truth. We have to believe what the scriptures says. James says faith alone is dead and cannot save anyone.
What is the mirror reflection of a legalist? A legalist hater.
So where you have rules and check boxes you have lawlessness and anarchy.
Where you have obeying rules and hiding sin, you get showing sin and not being ashamed.

What is a wonder is both groups are in unbelief about Jesus's ability to change us.
The legalists conform because they belong to the group, and failure or repentance is
not acceptable, while the lawless hate any rule keeping and everything is just belief and
forgiveness with no moral responsibility.

The trouble with dealing with the lawless, they do not care how they behave, because it
is all forgiven anyway. Yes they will fake conformity, but this is just to convince more
people they have a message. And they will lie about following Jesus and obeying Him
because christians will smell them out, worldly sinners faking believing..

What can be good about applying humanistic reasoning in an attempt to justify your belief of God and his nature.....ONE VERSE ALONE seems to be passed over by people like yourself....

The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
So you're reformed in your theology?
I doubt it though....reformed persons are very big on doing good deeds....

I think we will have many disagreements, since I go against false doctrines. However, I strive to be kind to all as Jesus would want me to be. I know that others will be offended by what I say, but that is just the way it is sometimes.

Faith obeys God.
You post up above shows that YOU do NOT obey God.
