As we read in Matthew 7:24-27, we find two different foundations with two different results, and not salvation by works, as some would suppose. Each house has a different material upon which its foundation is laid, and each house has a different final outcome. One house is built by a wise man upon a rock and it stands. The other is built by a foolish man upon the sand and it collapses.

Those deceived by their own self-righteousness in Matthew 7:22-23 were "outwardly" doing all the things that the righteous would do yet they did not truly know Christ (had no personal relationship with Christ) which stemmed from not truly believing in Him. Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. *Seeking to obtain salvation by works is not the will of the Father. The rock the wise man builds upon is true righteousness found in Jesus Christ alone. The sand the foolish man builds upon is self-righteousness.

*Only those who truly believe in Him are wise and hear the words of Jesus and properly act on them. *The foolish man twists the words of Jesus and acts on their own self-righteous works system and calls that acting on the words of Jesus, as demonstrated by those in false religions and cults.
I agree. Great insight! :)(y)

I am as far from Calvinism (as in Tulip) as one can be, now Luther had a few good things to say.

And being an ex-Catholic is not the problem anyway, better to be an ex-Catholic than to be one.
Luther and Calvin had similar false doctrines they learned in false Christian school and they studied Augustine and Augustus' false teaching.
How about repent of all of it and do what Jesus says?

The whole point of James using Abraham as an example is important because Abraham was already justified by
God before he took his son to the alter, but this act justified Abraham before men, because you see that in v. 23 he was called a friend of God.

Who called him a friend of God?.......those around him, he was seen as just by those around him because of his work.
Right. This is what I was pointing out a number of pages back. That this example from Abraham's life took place quite a number of YEARS AFTER his "Abraham BELIEVED God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." Romans 4:3

In all of those intervening YEARS, Abraham's justification was not in question in God's mind (this is NOT the point James is conveying). And he indeed was "called the friend of God" by other people (2Chron20:7; 2Chron6:16-17 ; etc...), which is what the "justified" point speaks to, in James 2.

I just copied it from somewhere, so not sure if it is copyrighted...hopefully it is okay to use.
Hi UnderGrace, here's another surprised cute kitten pix from the internet. I think the key word about using a copyright photo is "money", because the owner of the picture would want money if you were to make a profit from their photo.... I'm sure its okay to use not to worry, :) ,I think it is a good thing that you are making sure you're not breaking any copyright laws -- if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

You have the teachings of false teachers called Calvin and Luther and you think you are much better than the Mormons? How?
The above statement is akin to the Titanic sinking.....I follow neither one of those guys and I see you did not deny that you are a Mormon......I figured as much....you peddle the same dogma and make no mistake...Mormons are not of God and just another cult started by a fraud and based upon some supposed golden plates by an angel named MORON-I

My friend, being a mormon is quite a leap from scripture and Jesus.
The work of Jesus is very different and the ideas about heaven etc.
So yes this is actually for all of us an unbridgeable gap between us
and this christian forum.

Exactly.....(this is NOT the point James is conveying). :)

The entire point of James letter is to manifest outwardly what is true inwardly...... to lead the profitable Christian life for the benefit of others.

Amen and Amen!!

Love it,

I agree copyright is important and I would think in the case of photos making money would be breaking the copyright, I try to go stock photos but I can`t always keep track.

So cute...Thanks:)

What lie...Mormons founding is well established...a fraud name Joseph Smith and his supposed encounter with an angle named MORON-I and the book of MORMON coming from two buried golden plates.....another deceiver claiming a special knowledge imparted......

So.....are you a Mormon? Yes or no will suffice....remember, you push OBEDIENCE....SO IF YOU LIE you are not saved by your own dogma.....

Are you following the chosen man Luther? Why won't you admit it?
You should have only listened to Jesus.

Thankyou for clarifying you are not a Mormon.
This is where being simple and alying yourself with a group helps clarify things.

You think people are lying rather than asking questions or pointing out problems
with a position. It also demonstrates a defensive or open attitude.

Trying to be open, turning the other cheek actually does work.
God bless you friend.
