I grew up in the Baptist faith. I will be confirmed into the Catholic church at Easter vigil. I'm a believer in the holy spirit. A follower of Christ and a woman of God.

I grew up Mormon, left as a teenager and became a Christian in my later teens. I have attended a number of different types of churches since. Mostly Baptist when I was younger, more non demonimationsl in recent years, including a Calvary Chapel Church.
I still feel like I am trying to decide on one to be my home church. I just re-read “Why Men Hate Going to Church?” and some of the difficulities are laid out pretty well there.

I was baptized and raised as a Catholic, have been confirmed, and had attended weekly catechism classes for years. I no longer attend weekly mass but have attended other services in different denominations.
While I do not agree with all of the Catholic doctrine and practices I have felt more at peace in my mind and heart while attending mass than what I felt in other church services. Somehow, I have found the other church services to be spiritually lacking as if they were somehow incomplete. Regardless, I have felt closer to God while attending mass than the other churches I have been to.
I don't believe that praying to Mary is scriptural but do believe that many take comfort in praying to her as she is perceived as being caring and loving, and that God understands the human condition quite well and takes this into consideration.
I believe in the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, three separate unique entities comprising one God. I too am a follower of Christ and hope to one day be considered a man of God as well.
I pray that being confirmed into the Catholic church becomes a blessing to you. Perhaps you could light a candle for me if you think about it. I would sincerely appreciate this gesture.
No sir. I just realized I don't fully identify with any denomination, so I came up with a title.
Just kidding my good man. Jesuits are one of the orders that a Catholic priest are in.

There are some things about Catholicism that bother me, but the masses do look appealing. I went to one years ago and have been thinking of attending some again. I have been thinking I might feel more connected in a liturgical service than I do at most services.
I may check out a Lutheran Church, too.

Its been an amazingly difficult year for me. I lost my mom. A relationship ended and now I'm losing a home I love. I try to do all the right things the right way but things still seem to be going haywire. I've met every mortgage payment early and am amongst a group of homes being evicted to make way for a highway. The only peace I do feel is when I'm at Mass or in prayer.

I would be careful if this is the mindset of what people are believing in. Jesus clearly says:

Not sure where in the bible it says to pray to Mary, but having been brought up around the Catholic faith (which mums side is strong in) I am glad I know the unsettling practices that go on.
It does not say anywhere in the Bible to pray to Mary or anyone else But God.. It is a false doctrine and very un- Christian.. I am glad i left the catholic religon in my 20's and became a Christian..
Out of curiosity, what caused you to leave the Baptist church to join the Catholic church?
You will find a lot of opposition to the Catholic Church here on this forum. Many, including myself, have been baptized into it and have come to see the idolatry involved. The veneration and worship of dead saints are part of that. I will pray the Lord opens your eyes.
