You cant put bibleverses which are telling an situation and construct an universell teaching. In no other book then acts you find this. And acts was written to tell the story of the first christians and the church.
No where one single writer of the bible taught this.

I know I got the Holy Spirit, when Jesus came into my life and gave me eternal life.
In order to become a christian today one must follow the example set forth in God's Word on the Day of Pentecost when the church was birthed. The instructions given on the Day of Pentecost point to the fact that the message/promise was given to all those in the future as many as the Lord thy God shall call. (Acts 2:39)

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Tim 3:16

Please share scripture that states people receive the Holy Ghost when they believe.

An interesting truth.....Paul spoke at least 3 languages......and being educated probably 4 to 5.......in the Minimum he spoke Hebrew, Latin, Greek and probably Aramaic which is 4....

1st Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with languages more than ye all............key word bolded ^^^^^^^^
Paul is referring to speaking with tongues. He could not have meant languages as he goes on to say he would rather speak five words with his understanding (Words he understood). One that speaks multiple languages certainly understands the languages he is speaking.

1 Cor 14:18-19
"I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue."

We are supposed to ask for the gift of the Holy Ghost
it is a logical fallacy to conflate the Holy Spirit with tongues. Satan also performs lying signs and wonders, people perform glossolalia and other deceptions without the Spirit, and

do all speak in tongues?
(1 Corinthians 12:30)

we are specifically instructed to greatly desire "the greater gifts" - implicitly, not tongues - 1 Cor. 12:31
where are we instructed to desire to speak in tongues?

God understands more than just English and maybe you are limiting God because of your bias
God understands and hears all prayers of all believers in every language spoken on this earth.
I do not limit God at all. I am the one who believes God here every prayer of every believer, even those offered without a single word being said.
You and your friends are the ones who insist that one MUST use some special prayer language. You and your friends are the ones who insist that I and others are falling short in our prayer life if we do not use a special prayer language.
It really gets old and under my skin when you infer that I am missing out, I am failing God, or am not glorifying God with my life
because I do not believe in this nonsense called praying in tongues.
God hears every prayer of a believer. Period. No special prayer language needed.

wrong I never insist any such thing. So get your facts straight. Nor have I ever said one has fallen short in anyone's prayer life. You get under your own skin because I have never said such a thing which makes you a liar. Your a hateful person who attack those who do not agree with you.

Basics of speaking in tongues is broken into three easy steps.

Step 1 close the bible and only listen to teacher you adore, those having itching ears.

Step 2 empty your brain of all organized thought.

Step 3 open mouth.

For the cause of Christ

What language do you use in prayer.
I use English and God hears every word.
If your God does not understand English, maybe you are praying to the wrong God.
here you go to help you with your short term memory loss

It does no good to engage dishonest people with bias when they refuse to accept the word inspired by God and the VERY DEFINITION OF SAID WORD.....

glóssa: the tongue, a language
Original Word: γλῶσσα, ης, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: glóssa
Phonetic Spelling: (gloce-sah')
Definition: the tongue, a language
Usage: the tongue, a language, a nation (usually distinguished by their speech).

Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue<---language....not the jibberish passed off as tongues in modern charismatic churches

You don't know Greek. You don't know what you are talking about. Your comment right here:

"Sure.....tongues = language....not some jibberish or babbling passed off as tongues.....and the co text is clear!!! So is cease, fail and vanish away!!"

This is not Greek. That is your opinion. If you knew proper Biblical Exegesis you would not build on 1 verse found 1cor 13:10 when the three chapters are to be seen 12, 13, and 14 are unit chapters You if you think your greek understanding changes the context of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit starting in chapter 12 and ending in chapter 14, you sir are in error.
