I would think a person would investigate as to why would God accredit the sign with those who refuse to hear the word of God as a law founded in Isaiah 28 .Which is clear and the theme of the doctrine. .The same one that confirmed it many years later (1 Corinthians 14) .Why avoid looking at the foundation avoid the outcome of the sign . And yet for all that make tongues prophecy (God's word) without effect by the oral tradition of men.
From my experience those who look to confirm the sign as being filled with the Holy Spirit simply are turning things as if things of God where loosed from earth confirming they were heard on high. It is why the doctrine was founded men refused to believe prophecy .
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips (mocking lips) and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.! Yet for all that they will keep this oral tradition they call a sign gift as if we walked by sight to begin with which is actually a curse they have named tongues also .Two different doctrines apposing each other .The doctrine of God as it is written and those who seek after a signs and wonders gospel as a oral tradition of men
It makes the tradition of God without effect.
You mash up the scriptures in Isaiah something dreadful,
God is speaking to those who reject His grace. Who make the sabbath rest yet a day, rather than the day God gives spiritual rest to His people. The Spirit. In the Spirit, speaking in the Spirit, walking in Spirit. Spiritual people in His image for God is Spirit.
This is the sabbath rest of God:
9 To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? To children just weaned from milk? To those just taken from the breast?
10 For it is: "Do this and do that, do this and do that, Line upon line, line upon line, a little here, a little there."
11 Very well, then, by strange lips and foreign tongues the LORD will speak to this people
12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place, so give rest to the weary"' and "This is the place of repose"—but they would not listen.
13 So, then, the message from the LORD to them will become: "Do this and do that, do this and do that, line upon line, line upon line, a little here, a little there," so that they will go, but fall backward, and be injured, snared, and captured.
The sabbath rest of God when we cease the natural man and become Spirit.
