The work of God is this...

Man's work is to BELIEVE...and the result is JUSTIFICATION...this is a work of God which is the foundational work of SALVATION according to God's eternal plan and purpose.
...For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,
...IT IS GOD'S WILL THAT YOU SHOULD BE SANCTIFIED: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is HOLY and HONORABLE, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. THE LORD WILL PUNISH MEN FOR ALL SUCH SINS, as we have already told you and WARNED you. For GOD DID NOT CALL US TO BE IMPURE, but to LIVE A HOLY LIFE. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, WHO GIVES YOU HIS HOLY SPIRIT.

Salvation does not STOP in the JUSTIFICATION...
...Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are confident of better things in your case—things that accompany salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:9-12
...And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because OUR SALVATION IS NEARER NOW THAN WHEN WE FIRST BELIEVED. Romans 13:11
Therefore, faith without works is DEAD.
...You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is justified by what he does and NOT BY FAITH ALONE. James 2:22-24
