I'm sorry, but this is really a deceitful post.

NOBODY has ever said here we shouldn't follow or obey Jesus. Is this a deliberate deception on your part?

What we have been saying is that following or obeying has ZERO to do with HIM saving us. Doing those things doesn't save us or keep us saved. JESUS ALONE does that. We follow and obey BECAUSE He saves us, makes us HIS children, and we adore Him for that. Just as any child loves and adores their father.
Absolutely his modus operandi....he is as deceptive as they come......one of the worst I have seen on this site....constantly embellishing and ot twisting people's words and or sceipture...very very deceptive

Hi Divine, I was wondering whether I got the point you were making.
We are redeemed sinners, saints, who walk with our Lord.
Paul calls us to continually rejoice.
Is the idea of us continually rejoicing wrong?
I know we can be downcast and seeing life is hard, and others
seem to get on well and that makes us feel bad, but I am wondering
are you falling into the attitude of projecting on to others that which
is not there, and not trusting our King who works in all our hearts
to bring us to His throne?
God bless you
To tell you the truth, I am not sure what you are asking, and why. May I ask you this (to perhaps clarify some)? Are you asking me this due to my post just [two posts] above yours here, where I was addressing a point made in [member] Argueless's post? If so, I was endeavoring to follow his earlier request to:

--use Scripture only (as he does, he said)

--and, if I must give further explanation, to do it very simply

I believe my post [#95,090, in which I quoted a PORTION of Argueless's post and addressed that portion ONLY] "fitted" that request as much as possible. In what way are you thinking that it did not measure up to his "request"?

Note, I selected not to address his further comment, which contained the following words:

… do not be provoked to sin by these people's wicked schemings who nullify God's word and those who "CALL EVIL GOOD and GOOD EVIL"... [and a quoting of Ephesians 5:6-7, and] …LET GOD BE TRUE...

The word of God is for rebuking the brothers in falseness, like your beliefs in tongues.
Oh primary walk is one of shinning the light of love, righteousness and truth.
The ways of the world are always about point scoring and trying to beat someone.

Jesus's ways are about seeing need and providing support and help.
The classic problem is if one side desire slander and abuse it is no them, if one
responds with sacrifice and the other cheek. The reason is we are not defenders
of Gods truth, Gods word stands alone, we just witness to it.

As a sinner saved by grace, I stand as a witness of His work in my life.
Gods witness is all that finally matters because sinful man will always lie, deceive
cause strife and anguish, while claiming they hold the truth against the evil enemy.
Evil doers do not know God, it is the redeemed who walk in His ways, calling upon
Him for their strength who are lifted up, even though they die, yet will they live.
Amen

I believe in everything Jesus says. What does this say:

John 8:51 I tell you the solemn truth, if anyone obeys my teaching, he will never see death."
And do we not obey once we have believed and learned from Jesus...
How can we obey if we do not believe , we can not and do not obey all in one go...
Every day the LORD sanctifies us , sets us apart...Yesterday I may not of fully understood what my Lord was teaching me , so I did not fully obey Him , today I fully obey Him because I now have understanding...

None who follows our LORD would want to disobey Him , thank God for His Mercies and grace that is new each morning , why do you think He gives us new grace and mercy each morning ? because we drain our daily supply , even though we think we are doing O so well...xox...

Rose, this guy has proven he has no understanding.....I can quote Jesus and he comes back with some flippant reply saying I do not even know who Jesus said that to and why.....it is obvious that he is here just to bloviate and argue idiotic points.....

You really get hung up on the word 'obey'.

It is not perverted to preach obedience to Jesus.

'Obey' does not really mean 'don't obey', or, 'to obey is to not obey only have faith'.

Maybe he didn't think people would be that foolish James 2:20; or ignorant and unstable 2 Peter 3:16, 17.

No one in their right mind would think they didn't have to obey God. Before Jesus was even heard of, people were told to believe in Jesus---believe that we have to obey him, like we obey God.
Believe in the truth.

And, watch your life and your doctrine carefully.
Thanks YTG.
I find I sometimes lose my focus because of the cynicism and hard blows given,
which I need to see but take. I used to think people would be friendly and assumed
as such. Now I know sinners speak to harm, as deep as they can. And the more hurt
they are the deeper they will thrust. But in Christ nothing hits home, because we are in
Him secure and safe, kept and protected.

And the reason these people throw so hard and agressively is because they are so
damaged and hurting, they want to inflict this on others, especially those they blame
for this continual pain and sore, for which they have no cure.

So pity these poor folk, trapped, alone grasping at hope, while not having the victory
they desperately aspire to, but daily seem robbed of. And if they are robbed how dare
anyone claim to know the peace of God that passes understanding.

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

It is like the very thing one wants the other to receive consumes the giver.
So when we give blessing, honour and praise, that is what fills us.
So God bless you all, for in Christ Jesus we have love and victory through Him Amen.

Jesus said " Come to Me , and learn from Me "
That is how we obey , learning from Him...
When I got saved , I was a binge drinker , and every thing that came with it , foul mouthed , drunkard , abusive etc...
Only be reading the Word of God my behaviour changed , my drinking bouts became less and less , today I cannot remember when I was last drunk , hence all the behaviour that came with being a drunk has gone , praise the LORD and thank You Jesus...
We obey when we learn , it is not an immediate thing , some take longer than others...
The Word of God corrects us , it changes us through the teaching and guidance of the Holy Spirit , by Gods Amazing grace , we have been saved...xox...
Very well said. :)

Where 1 Thessalonians 4:7 says, "For God has not called us TO [G1909] impurity/uncleanness but IN [G1722] sanctification/holiness [G38]," the G1722 ['IN'] (re: the "sanctification/holiness" G38) is a "preposition denoting position and instrumentality, i.e. A relation of rest"... and we can also see the G38 word used in 1 Corinthians 1:30 - https://biblehub.com/text/1_corinthians/1-30.htm , where it says, "But out of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who has been made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification [G38] and redemption" (this is "positional truth" ['sanctification' positionally] which impacts our "condition" ['sanctification' progressively], or "walk").

Very good post! Thanks for posting! (y):)

Correction - Repent DOES mean a change of mind and does not mean sinless perfection.
I have read this a lot, except it seems somewhat limited.
Turning from wickedness, doing good, having sorrow for sin and the damage done,
believing in the cross for forgiveness of our sins, confession of sins, obedience to Gods will,
cleansing of the heart, sowing to the Spirit, crucifying the evil desires of the flesh.

Now these sentiments are clear in the OT and the NT.

Those who seem to be born churched people, with a nice life, seem to like the change mind idea,
because to be honest, they could pass as believers all their lives more or less.

Those who truly have delved the depths of sin and rebellion, who know the evil that resides there
and how it eats alive the souls of many, have no problems with true repentance because they
literally do not want to go back to the God forsaken hole they used to be in.

So I suspect this diluted, face splash repentance just shows the lack of true letting go these
"believers" have ever indulged in, so all they need is a face splash to pass as ok. God help them
when their secrets are exposed for all to see, and the true extent of their indulgences become
known. On that day nothing will be hidden, and whatever is shameful will be understood leaving
just a shell behind, which everyone thought was a fine gifted orator of God.
