How can anyone know what sin really is until they feel the inner feeling of shame?
Like a child learning right from wrong...Do right, no punishment, .....do wrong, get punished.

I thank you for this post. I have been shown that I need to control my thoughts and actions.
We all have a subconscious mind as well as a conscious mind. The subconscious mind has tremendous influence on our life and it operates just below the surface. It is programmed in early childhood, and sometimes the program is not christian. Mine had been programmed to think that I was basically wrong and caused bad things to happen. God told me I was wonderfully made and I could follow Him. A clash of ideas. We chatter to ourselves all day long, but don't listen to our own chatter. We can listen and pull our thoughts up into the conscious. There you can reprogram to follow the truth of the Lord.
I think the Lord wants us to control ourselves, even our thinking. We are to put God's word in our mind and use self control to follow the word.

I think you are talking of learning the need for Christ's cleaning, and that I sure agree with.
But after Christ cleans us of all sin, shame doesn't have a place in our Christian life. God loves us and we are free of sin and can love ourselves.
Yes GOD gave Adam and Eve the ability to choose to listen to HIS voice or not to listen to HIS voice,they chose to do their own thing,GOD didn't want man to worship HIM like a robot.
Sin is complicated. It is complicated because the sin is wired up wrongly, out of control
following passions and pressures they did not choose nor do they know how to stop.
Talk to people who are obviously addicted. They are part of a behaviour pattern which
they find impossible to break.
Paul describes this as being a slave to sin, so sin is the master, and the reasons why the
slavery started is long forgotten but the cycle is always there.
Without God intervening, sin continues to dominate.
But sin was not In the WORLD until adam sinned so then he Is saying sin must have been a choice.
GOD made man and knew what Is best for man but man having a choice chose not to listen to the voice of GOD which Is perfectly righteous so then sin Is the breaking of GODs perfect standard of righteousness(the law)
The more interesting question to ask would be, "Could Jesus also choose to sin in the 4 Gospels too?"

if he could not he could never be tempted. Thus the passahe he was tempted in all ways yet without sin would be meaningless
When addicted people are cured of their addition they are cured through their minds even though it is how their body works in response to a poison that is a key element in their addiction.
I once watched two families sitting in booths near me at a restaurant. One group had children of about the same age, one was obviously from a strictly rigidly Christian with even special clothes from their sect, the other obviously secular. The secular children were fighting and noisy, they were not enjoying themselves. The Christian family had been raised without radio or television, as i knew from knowing the rules of their sect. They were enjoying themselves in a poised way. I mentioned it to the waitress who knew them. She told me the children of the religion sect usually had not learned how to manage the outside world and as soon as high school they often chose the wild side of life.
We live what we put in our minds and listen to.
If you keep your mind on good things, you will do good things; if you keep your mind on sin, you will sin. Prior to salvation-if sin is a choice-then a person should be able to never sin. If that were actually true, then we wouldn't need Jesus. After salvation, I believe we can choose to sin or not to sin.
As far as our eternity is concerned, we have no sin, because Jesus paid for all our sins, however, I believe that we do still have to contend with sin as long as we live here in this world. Paul tells about our battle with our sin nature in the Galatians letter.

Why I believe sin is a choice.
Duh, of course sin is a choice, a decision we choose to do.
Having sex outside of a marriage takes people to meet, have a place to be alone, remove their clothing, do the deed. That is a lot of moments where you are thinking "this is wrong." But every warning you keep ignoring. And then when the sins have all been committed, that's when the guilt pours in. Which means, you know what you did was wrong the entire process of it. You just CHOSE to keep sinning for the self pleasure. And that is where all sins begin at, at self. So whether it's for pleasure, profit, benefit, SELF CHOOSES sin in every instance we commit a sin.

In the beginning adam had a choice to be obedient to the WORD of GOD but after adam fell,ALL of creation fell and not because of us but because of adam we were In the situation where we would come short of the glory of GOD because of the weakness of the flesh.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
How do you feel towards the reply that I got, a view that many Christians seem to share, that Jesus could actually sin.
1. No one is predestined to be evil or wicked.
2. Sin is indeed a choice, and the conscience is embedded in every human being (Romans 2).
3. No one is predestined for salvation or damnation. Obedience to the Gospel is also a choice. God commands all men everywhere to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
4. God expects each one to take full responsibility for their choices. And the Law of Sowing and Reaping is a universal Law which says that choices have consequences.
5. The modern liberal philosophy of *Victimhood* makes everyone a victim and no one a perpetrator. That is totally false. But it was on display when Donald Trump won the presidency, and all the Snowflakes went into meltdown, looking for * safe spaces* and teddy bears to cuddle with.
6. The MeToo Movement also was totally bogus, since each of those women knew exactly what lay ahead, when they decided to associate with scumbags for their own career advancement.
