Sister. All you have to do is go to the law and look at the priest

The washing and anointing were 2 different events. Once these took place the Levite was a priest

The same happens to each and every one of us who are gods children. You are washed (baptized) then anointed. Once this is done we are saved and sealyou do not pray to get baptized by the spirit it happens the moment you say yes to God. It is part of the process of god saving you

All gifts no matter what they are are given after these events take place
I neither think it against the Holy Spirit, nor something the speaker is making up.

I think it is apart from this, it is a phenomena of the brain, that is the ecstatic utterances.

Ok, so back to my story with my Baptist friend. He understood the tongues before it was interpreted. How would you explain that? If it was made up how did he, a person who did not believe in tongues, understand what was being said? If it was just gibberish, as folks in this thread are saying, how did he understand what was being said?

It was to confirm to Unbelieving Jews that the NEW WORDs that the Apostles were Teaching were as much the WORD OF GOD and those Words in the Old Testament, for the JEWS REQUIRE A SIGN.

1 Corinthians 14:21-22 (NIV)
21 In the Law it is written: "Through men of strange tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me," says the Lord.
22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.

Mark 16:20 (NIV)
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them
and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

As far as I am concerned, tongues in the Charismatic Church and Pentecostal Churches, in 1906, fell for a man made COUNTERFEIT, after it CEASED after the NEW TESTAMENT WORDS were validated by the APOSTLES to ENOUGH JEWS.

Matthew 16:4 (ESV)
4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.

EVERY COMMENT that you can make, can be answered by my 9 Segment Study.

I have NO INTEREST in Discussing this, or Debating it with anybody anymore.

READ THE STUDY, if you want to KNOW WHAT I ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE and has been confirmed in my heart by the Holy Spirit.

IT IS A SETTLED ISSUE FOR ME and most other Non-Charismatics, like the expression goes: You are whipping a dead horse.

Then don't discuss it. No, I don't want to read your study. I skimmed it, I don't agree. People believe all kinds of things and say the Holy Spirit told me. You have confirmation bias. You overlook Scripture that disagrees with your bias. Since you don't want to discuss it then we'll call the subject dropped.

I am not YELLING when I put something in all caps. I do it to to emphasize my statement.

I do not care what FACE BOOK calls it, I have NEVER HAD A FACE BOOK ACCOUNT, and NEVER WILL, and I DO NOT PLAY BY THEIR RULES.

How Wude! The typical attitude of charismatics.

facebook has rules?

Were you there?

It could have been a foreign language.

It's not gibberish. Again,confirmation bias.

The Pagans in the Mystery Religions in Corinth, were using ecstatic speech in their version of tongues, at least 400 years before Christ (gibberish). IT INFILTRATED THE CHURCH TOO, as many in the worship of Zeus, or Aphrodite, or Apollo, became Christians. Here is Jesus teaching not to Pray like the Pagans.

Matthew 6:7 (NIV)
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling [battalogeo] like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

Notice. the Logeo in the GREEK languages is WORDS. Batta can be translated BABBLING. In the Mystery Religions in Corinth they actually taught their followers to speak in tongues with this METHOD:

Say Batta, Batta, Batta over and over again as FAST as you can, and the gods will turn it into into a heavenly languages that they can only understand!

Now what do you think JESUS meant when HE used the Greek Word - BATTALOGEO ? ? ?

How close were the Pagan Temples to the Church at Corinth? The Temple to APOLLO was less than a block away, and they were one of the main Pagan Religions that taught their followers to pray in tongues.

Sure is..........and no....stating facts......nice try though and I could as easily lay that same BIAS charge to charismatics.....

No, you're not stating facts you're stating your opinion. Nice try yourself. Yes, you could except the Bible doesn't say tongues have ceased.
